          • @firestint: You can take any referral link and find out the person's username by changing compEligible=1 to compEligible=0 in the URL

Don't sign up this way though, just remember to copy the original link.

  • Can someone please pm their referral code that is actually still eligible for this? Thanks

From an eToro Customer Service rep:
    Quote.
Please be advised, that your account cannot be credited as an eligible trade has not been made.
In order for both parties (you & your referral friend) to be credited, both parties must complete an eligible trade (open and close at least one position).
A position has to be open&closed with the eligible duration of the being open.
The clients under ASIC & GAML regulation are eligible for the referral bonus based on the following conditions:
    - Trading volume: we require both sides to reach a trading volume of $100 USD within 30 days from the first time deposit.
    - Delayed compensation: the rewards will be credited to both the referring and referred friends' accounts seven (7) days after the qualifying terms have been met.
    Unquote.
So for this deal to work, I would have to identify and contact my referrer since both parties must complete a USD$100 trade.

To further supplement, this was the response I got

"Please be advised, that your accounts cannot be credited as an eligible trade has not been made properly. We do not accept as trading a position that was opened/closed with less than a 2-minute duration of the being open.

Kindly note, the clients that are willing further to participate in the "Refer a Friend" program, have to be familiar with our latest Terms & Conditions updates.

So now you have to wait for at least 2 minutes to close the position?

    • It says trade within 30 days since first time deposit, which doesn't necessarily mean the referrer must have made a trade in the last 30 days since they would have traded already since their first deposit. That's how I'm reading it anyway (could be wrong).

  • Looks like they change the policy.
    This post is outdated now.

    • I don't think the policy has changed much however, if you click on random referral, there's a high chance that you get an referral code that is inactive/did not do any trade.
The bonus still stands, provided both parties complete any trade.
I'd definitely suggest whoever is interested to request for a PM from active traders for a valid referral.

      • I've noticed from clicking the referral links that sometimes the web page heading changes depending on the link.
Most of the time it says "Join eToro and get $100 when you start trading" - I assume these are the valid ones.
And sometimes it says "Join your friend <username> on eToro!"

Actually you can take any referral link and find out the person's username by changing compEligible=1 to compEligible=0

I suggest updating this deal to highlight the new T&Cs, and the very least flush the referral database to force active referees to re-enter their referral codes.

    • Agreed, especially T&Cs need to be updated.

    • I have

      • Updated the post with new policy PDF document
      • Completely purged all referral entries from our database
      • Updated the description of the Referral program.

Please re-enter your Referral data once more and make sure you have fully read the PDF document.

  • To new users looking to sign up, make sure your referrer has reached "a trading volume of $100 USD within 30 days from the first time deposit."

I'm wondering if it would be better to change the referral system to require a PM like some others on this site, to prevent issues with people putting invalid accounts (happened to me when I signed up, I lost my bonus)

    • I agree, this seems to be a better option. I am not going to add my name yet given I haven't made the trade of $100USD.

On a side note, after some investigative work involving Chrome history and copy pasting of URL, I found out that I used qlee99's referral code. No such user on Ozbargain though, if you're reading this could you please PM and let me know if you have made the trade required from your side?

      • I tried tracking down my user too, but their account is still empty on eToro. If you haven't signed up yet, let me know.

  • I had account opened, signed up and as soon as I traded, received referral bonus $100 USD instantenously.

To those who don't really want to trade but want the bonus, put any trade (say AAPL stock) with LIMIT set as something that you believe won't execute in some time (Say AAPL current stock value $120 so you set limit to be $110 or $115 or something). When the order is placed, you would get referral instantaneously. Once money received, you can cancel the trade which would be waiting for LIMIT price to match.

    • I don’t think this is right as T&Cs now say you have to open and close a trade

  • <—Edit: Got a PM Thanks all! —>

Hi everyone! Who would like some extra referral USD?

I have the app and the cash ready to sign up and invest the $200 USD and then try out a trade of >$100USD.

Can someone please pm me their referral code that is definitely eligible? Or is the random referral button likely working again as it got reset? Either way if you PM me you could have some greenbacks please help haha :) Just got my free Stake GoPro share too…

    <—Edit: Got a PM Thanks all! —>

hie, just wondering if you received your referral bonus of $100?
if yes, can you please pm me your referral link?

  • +2

Finally, I got an email saying I received $100 bonus from RAF program. Just checked and there's an extra $100USD now in my account. I made the trade last week Wed or Thu for the reference.

  • So once both sides have opened trades worth of up to 100USD, even if they are closed, they both receive the bonus?

    Thanks

    • Yes, both must have made a deposit of at least USD 200 too.

      The below wasn't in the T&Cs, but I got a reply from the customer service rep as follows;

"Please be advised, that your accounts cannot be credited as an eligible trade has not been made properly. We do not accept as trading a position that was opened/closed with less than a 2-minute duration of the being open."

Despite the above, I got the $100 just now, after waiting for about a week.

      • Did you put in another open/close trade longer than 2 minutes after you received that email from the rep?

        • +1

No I didn’t but I was going to. They gave me the referral bonus anyways. They are so inconsistent

  • Thanks to whoever used my random referral, got a bonus :)

  • Has anybody got a confirmation that a person with the username exploreitwithme registered to etoro? Unfortunately I forgot to record the random referral and I am contacting customer service for the bonus $100 :)

  • I didn't get my bonus after 7 days so I contacted support and they gave it to me no issues, phew!

    • May I ask what was the issue with your case? and how did you contact support (via query ticket system, email or live chat)?

      thanks!

      • They didn't explain what the reason was, they just gave me the bonus after I contacted them. I contacted them by opening a ticket here https://www.etoro.com/customer-service/

        • Thanks for getting back! I lodged a ticket there as well but haven't heard from them for 4 days, guess I will have to wait a bit longer :/

Hi all, just wanted to let everyone know that I recently had a case where someone had used my referral but I did not get my referral bonus. My referee got his/hers and thankfully s/he informed me. Otherwise I wouldn’t have known. I just had to contact eToro support and it was sorted pretty quick.

So not sure if mods want to change the referral system to send a private message to the referrer to get the code.

  • +3

Wow I just got a $100 bonus, is there a way to keep this post in the front pages? Every OzBargainer would need a $100 promotion from time to time :)
Thank you to that good person :D

    • Agreed! And that’s $100USD roughly $140AUD.

  • Am I safe to use a random referral or should I request a pm?

    • Tried to PM you but think you've turned it off

    • Random referral previously worked for me though I had to contact support to get my money. You can also use the method I mentioned above to get the person's username from the referral link https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9457380/redir

You can then check if that person's username is the same on OzBargain in case you need to contact them (Mine is the same)

  • T&C now says you need to trade wit ha buy and a sell unlike before that it only requires you to buy and can hold the stock.
I am not sure if this is required for both the referrer and referee or only for the one you refer.

    • +1

I believe it’s both referrer and referee needs to make a buy and sell trade.

Someone here mentioned that you only need to hold the trade for at least 2 minutes. You might even make a profit in 2 minutes :)

      • At least this is what worked for me and a few other friends - deposit AUD $300 (which is more than USD200), buy something, sell it after 2 minutes. On average it took about 7 days for the bonus to come in.

      • The problem is the those who joined long time before T&C was changed was not required to sell and they were able to refer successfully before.

There is a big possibility that they are not qualified to refer this time which will cause confusion.

Someone mention he trade, buy and sell in 5 mins time and he was not given the bonus as it is too short and reason was not genuine to use eToro rather just want to get the $100 bonus and run.

        • True, becoming hard as many old users used to deposit only to get the bonus. But hey, making USD $100 worth trade is not that hard just trade anything and close again.

  • +1

My most recent experience after they changed the T&C, to require a trade of $100, it didn't track correctly anymore for both of me and my friend (it was OK before that change in October). Luckily it's not a random referral so I was able to ask support to fix the issue for both of us. So, try to remember the link you used, just in case, if you're using random.

  • PLEASE use the referral system

I've changed it to PM system so if you need to ask the person their name etc if it doesn't track you can.

  • Hi,

if i want to buy us stocks, do i deposit in aud with st george card or usd with citibank or 28 degrees card (less conversion fees)?

    thanks

    • you deposit in AUD and eToro will convert it to usd to their accounr with their own exchange rate(they included their fees on their exchange rate)

    • It would be cheaper with the conversion fees if you use it our Citibank card rather than using eToro (based on other Ozbargainers comments above).

  • Thank you for your replies. Would 28 degrees cc be ok too (not in credit yet) and i can just bpay/ bank transfer the amount into 28 degrees after to not pay interest?

    • I am not sure about the conversion fees used by the 28 degree cc.

An alternative way with low conversion fees is to use TransferWise, a kind of money exchange bank account. TransferWise has one of the lowest conversion fees, in fact they use the “real” conversion fees seen when you google the exchange rate. They have a deal where first transfer is free:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/590944

    • I think regardless of what transfer method, the final conversion from AUD to USD is done by eToro.
You could do a bank transfer to local eToro bank (might be NAB), and the conversion to USD would be done by eToro.

I have funded my eToro account using Citibank Signature card, with no additional fees on Citibank.

      • +1

Not if your bank account already holds USD and you transfer this USD into eToro.

The Citibank and TransferWise option lets you do this (ie. you convert AUD to USD using Citibank or TransferWise own conversion rate, and then transfer this USD to eToro).

      • That's not true. I tried 28degree, Macquarie credit card and Up debit card. If you specify the deposit in USD, it's the card doing the conversion (e.g: if you do $200, it'd appear as 200 USD in UP and the conversion rate they're using to AUD). I use UP these days, as their rate is slightly better than 28degree when I tried (but it's hard to compare as the rates fluctuates and the differences is only a little)

  • Can someone confirm using transferwise successfully ? I was trying to find in google but i read some had issues using transferwise where it was not credited and having difficulty withdraw back to transferwise.

    • +1

I've read about withdrawal issues with credit cards and wire transfers, so I'd recommend sticking to debit cards. There is no reason why the Transferwise debit card wouldn't work. In fact all debit cards listed on this wiki page should work fine without issue and no fees. Most of these cards also use the Visa/Mastercard market rate which is pretty much the best rates you can get (Mastercard is a tiny bit better). I personally used an 86400 card without issue but haven't yet withdrawn, just make sure to select the option to fund your account in USD and not AUD to avoid eToro's own conversion rates.

      • The best I tried so far (when trying at about the same time) is UP that I think use something close to TransferWise rate (but not as real time). Tried 28degree (Master) and Macquarie (Visa), they give a bit less, but yeah very similar. Withdrawing is not an issue neither, went back to my Macquarie card, which is the first card I used.

  • Interestingly, the one I referred just tried to put an order for $100 at market rate when the market is closed, and it's triggering the bonus already. Not sure what would happen if he then cancelled before the market opened (as he really wanted to go ahead with it)

    • You think you can close that trade.

Their system sends referral bonus in batches at the same time in a week, looks like a manual job.

      • I'd think so. In case of that friend, we both get the $100 bonus right at that moment (first time I actually saw instant pay, as usually there's a delay, maybe because of the batching as you said). Once the bonus were in, they're not going to take it back if we cancelled the trade itself. But anyway, US shares has no commissions unlike ASX, so even if we buy $100 of big company's stock and then just sell it again at market value few minutes later, it'd likely be few cents differences (for the bonus sake).
