  • EVO 1TB $195 before cash back.

    • Meh just get the MX500 at a lower price, no need for unreliable cashback either.

anyone got their cashback from samsung yet? still waiting for mine after 3 weeks :\

    • Not over a month yet 😑

    • I've done the cashback thing a few times and have never seen the money come through. Not saying it didn't… but I've never seen it.

Interested to hear from people who have seen the cashback come through eventually.

Last one of these deals I acted on was the Samsung 500gb for $80 odd after cashback. Good deal imo.

      • I received them all, the first one I submitted on 21Jan and received on Feb, some submitted on Feb received on Mar.

        So all around 1 month.

The only one have problem was I put the wrong account number and they emailed me to ask me to update but no response afterward until I found another email address to forward to them again.

      • I've claimed cashback and the free Gear VR with the Galaxy s7 way back - Haven't had any issues with Samsung ones

The only one I've had issues with is ASUS, was supposed to get an EFTPOS card as cash back for my router but I never received it, they responded stating we need to check / we'll send it in [x] days to all my emails but it never went anywhere.

    • In the same boat here, but only been 2 weeks. The last thing it says is "Validation complete", is that the same for everyone else too? Also what happens if it still hasn't come through when the promotion ends?
      Cheers

    • I have gotten all of mine eventually (couple of cashbacks, one Rainbox Six Siege) but have had to spam them a few times to get it in the end for a couple of them.

    • Still waiting…

If you try the cashback, the validation will fail if you use the serial number printed on the box. For some stupid reason the serial number on the box is only 14 characters, but the serial on the device is 15 characters.

    • you can get the serial from the drive itself or it will tell you in the Samsung magician software

    • If you can use the serial number on the box, somebody can steal it and claim it.

      • You also have to submit your invoice

  • Is the Samsung 970 Plus 2TB a good deal?

    • -1

No. 2TB NVMe drives should be around the $400-500 mark. I recommend the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, but unless you edit massive files often then a SATA drive is perfectly fine. Crucial MX500 is a great one and it's like $100 cheaper. And the argument for next gen consoles is a little silly, because PCs aren't on the same architecture and texture streaming relies on random reads rather than how fast it can read a 5TB file.

      • I thought better reliability and bigger capacity so I don't have to worry about it for a long time might worth a little premium

        • better reliability

Where are you getting this from? These days the other manufacturers are getting a lot better, and Samsung while being top of the line charge a large premium for it. And what do you mean bigger capacity? When I said massive files I meant sequential transfer speed, not capacity. All of these are 2TB drives.
