Thanks Op. In case this ebay seller runs out, Reolink AU (which price quotes in USD strangely) have a sale for nearly identical prices once converted. Free delivery from NSW. https://reolink.com/au/flash-sale/. Also CR has 2.1% cashback with Reolink.

I'm hesitating due to narrow field-of-view on their cams, but think this workaround to incompatibility with other camera software could be useful for anyone integrating: https://github.com/thirtythreeforty/neolink

      looks like there's also a stack-able 5% off code on Reolink's official store: YTB5OFFHOMECA

    • Yeah if only they Lens is configurable like other brand and can achieve higher field of view around 90 degrees.

      • The B800 has a fov of 97 degrees of that helps you. Unfortunately the D800 does not.

        • Kinda of useless with B800 doesn't have RTSP support.

          • @[Deactivated]: Why not just use their NVR? It's not very expensive for what it is.

            • @masuta: I mean, I already spend money on my own custom NVR which does local object based detection so …. RTSP just make everything easier to integrate with my existing home assistant and raspberry pi camera viewer.

  • Interested in something that simply records movement at front door. Just a 20 second clip or so. Does this stuff work like that. Almost pulled the trigger eufy cam. But the price here is even better.

FWIW I have 1tb of OneDrive space through work that I could potentially record to.

I got a cheap Orion camera from bunnings, but the grid connect app is super shit, I need to scroll through 12 hours of video to find things.

Would you be better to go for a doorbell cam to get wide angles ad body height? Depends on purpose, but for security a clear face pic might be important. Got my mother a Ring 2 which she's really happy with.

      • Thanks mate. The ring products look great, but Not keen on the subscription with ring.

    • We have a Reolink Argus 2. It has a very wide angle and captures our front door and driveway/yard really well. Detects movement and records clips to microSD. Think you can opt for cloud but haven't looked into what services it's compatible with. It's also battery and wifi so no wires at all.

Downside is it only supports 2.4GHz wifi and you have to recharge the battery every couple of months.

      • I have got the same but with the solar panel at the front door, must say I'm very happy with it.

      • Thanks mate. How do I find the app? The grid connect one is crappppp

        • App is just in the app store and is just called 'Reolink'. I find it to be pretty decent actually. Fairly polished as far as apps go (although I have no frame of reference for security camera apps)

    • I have a Genbolt cam and the motion detection is quite good. Records 15 second clips when motion is detected. You can also set times when it is active or not. Usually around $50 on Amazon from time to time. App is pretty good but more settings in the web interface of the camera.

      • Thanks mate. Does it record to Dropbox, OneDrive, etc?

  • Doesn't look like they have cameras for DVR.

    • DVR? Do you mean to say NVR and these are compatible

      • No, the cameras with power plug and BNC. Is for DVR that's what I need.

        • +5

Ahhh yeh that's a pretty old format these days. If you want that you need to Swan cameras or a XVR Dahua camera. Better just using the existing BNC to pull through catX and install a new PoE system

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: Yeah few years old now, thanks friend for your info.

            • +1

@spock: You can also run Poe and data over BNC if you're really heavily invested in old cabling.

  • +1

anyone knows if these Reolink cameras support RTSP?

    • +5

I think they all do except the B/D800. Could use Neolink tho to pull the RTSP feed through to your software

      • +1

        Thanks mate.

Thanks also on that Neolink suggestion. I am not aware of this previously. I will explore this one further.

For those considering the hardwired cams, Check if the wiring is PoE…I’ve done a few cam systems over the years and PoE is so much cleaner and simpler.

  • Bit the bullet and got the 8 cam with 16 channel NVR

    See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/552336 for the RLC-410-5MP @ ~$5 cheaper ($51)

  • Can I use RLC-511 with nvr / blue iris?

  • https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07H3QVZQ2 -15% atm

Waiting for a 522 plus NVR deal though

    • Best it was from amazon is $390 on lightning deal.
Really keen to grab it around $400. 4 x 5MP and NVR.

  • I have reolink RLC-520 that will have condensation inside side that causing foggy picture. Not sure either I got a dud one or bad design.

    • I guess Easter enters through the numerous holes on the side of the camera housing and get a trapped inside.

Also how did you find thr camera mounting plate, was it as bad as this review https://youtu.be/O2bH9uIjmAg ?

  • Got the Argus 2 for $100 (wanted to get the starlight sensor) and a Holaca solar panel from Amazon.

    Thanks mate.

  • Has anyone that has used ubiquiti unifi g3 cameras made the switch to this brand? I'm interested, because unifi g3/g4 are getting to be overpriced and falling behind other cheaper poe brands

  • Awesome cheers op I picked a replacement for my old 2mp avtech.

  • +1

BTW Argus 2 has currently 15% discount on https://reolink.com/product/argus-2/. Stack with code 'affsusargus2batcam10offw29' for further 10% off making the total USD 76.49 or around AUD 109. It's free shipping as well.

    • So you could use mains, battery and solar to power this but not PoE?

      • Power input option as per the specs:
Battery: 5200mAh rechargeable battery (Battery life varies based on settings, usage & temperature).
Solar: Can be powered by Reolink Solar Panel
DC Power: Can be powered by 5V/2A power adaptor

The camera doesn’t have Ethernet port, so no PoE indeed. For PoE look at the wired options.

      • You could use something like these:
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Pack-Active-PoE-Power-Over-Eth…

I haven't used them with with a camera, but I have used them with a few other USB powered devices.

Why not get it from this deal, Its cheaper cos its $125 less 20%. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264507080702

      • This is just in case it runs out.
