they should do free cruise from xxx to port of Melbourne…..

"Enjoy all meals and fantastic entertainment onboard, all included in your package."
    correction:
"Enjoy all meals, possibility of meeting with Covid, and fantastic entertainment onboard, all included in your package."

plus possibly $3,000 hotel quarantine after trip

  • +1

Hmmm, way too early for me too hahaha.

  • +2

Well…After what I witnessed about Ruby Princess Covid outbreak, don't think will consider Cruise anytime soon.

    • +1

      what did you witness?

or do you just mean the ruby princess debacle generally?

      • Nah Diamond Princess Plague boat

  • +1

Imagine being quarantined in a room with no windows with 3 other people for 14 days. If you really want to go for a cruise then I'd recommended going AT LEAST for a twin balcony room, at least it would be less unbearable if you have to quarantine for 14 days.

    • Imagine being quarantined … for 14 days

      How about a few months

      • What do they on the boat for that long? Lol. Crazy.

        • Tic tac toe.

    • -1

This doesn't make sense, it's intrastate travel and not even interstate travel. Assuming QLD remains good with COVID control, quarantine shouldn't be a bigger risk than going to Schoolies.

  • Lol.

  • +7

they should include the funeral cost too

  • 5 Days/4 Nights All Inclusive

    including gastro ?

    • +10

      that would be all explosive

  • +7

Yeah nah. One of the most (if not the most) polluting methods of transportation, plus exposure to whatever the virus of the day is.

  • +6

Yeah, I wouldn't get on one of those floating petrie dishes if they were paying me the $299

    • +5

Out of curiosity, if they were paying you, what is the minimum you would accept to join this cruise start to finish?

  • I rather do a very risky investment with that money than being stuck on a remote island with corona onboard…..

    • stuck on a remote island
…Like Whitsunday Islands? It's staying in Oz!

      • could be diverted to NAURU if Corona happens on-board

        • No! Australians in Australia would be treated / quarantined in Australia.

          • @INFIDEL: Username checks out

            • @TheJoker: What an ignorant comment!
Who knows what you think my username means. But you're obviously wrong!!

An Infidel is just a non-believer of the dominant belief. That can apply to many here.

How has my username got anything to do with my comment?
I simply clarified about Australian health care support in the case of covid infection within Australia.

      • Gilligan's Island.

        • That would be fun😅

  • +6

This will NOT go ahead. Dont be fooled into booking.

    • +8

      Challenge accepted.

      • What are the odds on both sides?

      • Bookmarked to come back and see the results later!

        • I'm sure the results will be positive.

  • Death wish

    • nah, more like corona wish

      • -1

It's just the flu isnt it?

  • -5

Book a spot for George Pell and Dan Andrews. They both need a holiday!

    • +3

      Is this the "Love Boat"?

    • +3

Scomo is pining for another bugger-off to Hawaii, at least Dandrews is toiling away.

      • -5

at least Dandrews is toiling away.

He could have at least provided 'protection' for the returned travelers. before he unleashed his security guards on them…

        • +5

You really hate Dan, don't you JV?

Even before the quarantine debacle, you were whinging about how dan was locking down Melbourne for too long?

          • +1

            @[Deactivated]:

You really hate Dan, don't you JV?

            hate is a strong word.

            • +3

              @jv: Good thing i didn't bold it.
              😋

            @[Deactivated]:

you were whinging about how dan was locking down Melbourne for too long?

            where?

          • @[Deactivated]: If Victoria doesn't want Dan, we'd gladly trade Koala Killer for him.

  • Corona Incubators?

  • +2

    It might be breathtaking, literally.

  • Well, I had been waiting for such deal since March or April this year, but finally my wait is over… seriously

  • ..hey don't knock this deal…

Let's look at the bright side.

    1. Get away from the cold ….. wait… could catch another… ..
    2. Social distancing laws don't apply once in international waters ….. wait…. something is not right
    3. 5 Days/4 Nights only $299…. wait…………….. come back 14 nights in 5 hotel ($3000+ extras)*

    Okay NO DEAL.

    • For those that say if leaving port and coming back to same port point 3 is not valid….. yeah, I don't think wise idea QLD Gov't will give this exception given Ruby Princes debacle in NSW.

I feel sorry for all the business and company impacted by COVID.
We almost got rid of it :(

    • -4

      BLM

    • +1

      Covid or the businesses?

  • A ripper deal for those people that think there will be a vaccine by the 14th December, or have already had it.

    • No need for one "I have an uncompromised autoimmune system"

  • +3

Even if anyone was interested in this (which seems unlikely), I would be looking to book direct with P&O rather than through Scoopon. Haven't read any terms and conditions for it, but the chances of getting a refund out of Scoopon if the situation changes seems poor at best.

  • +3

$299 for quad share interior, $399 for twin share interior, $499 for twin share balcony. (And other prices in between) Average deal even pre-covid.

    • +2

Most of their potential customers will be people who had their cruises cancelled due to covid, and now have 'cruise credit' to use up. No sense giving them a discount, they're already on the hook

  • Nice try, see how many idiots will jump in the fire pits.

P&O should focus more on healthcare services rather than milking people. US used cruises as hospitals, they could do that too.

    • They offered to do that straight up here.

Aus politicians who were keen to conjure blame to the cruises, didn't think it would be a good look to then choose to use them.

      • Sorry I didn't know about that, it would be a good idea to cross and help this country. We should be more of supportive if they do additional health services when our public and private hospitals are not holding all the patients. It comes to me feel that medicare needs to be changed as well.

        • P&O do give quite a bit to Australia.

Just a month or so before they were evicted, they gave a $50,000 cheque to support bushfire relief for those affected over Dec/Jan. And when the tourist communities reopened, they were there e.g. Eden straight away to boost tourism to those regions that wanted them.

And even when they were locked down in Shellharbour they were giving care packets from the ship to locals who had lost jobs or were locked up, and the local community gave them a warm send off as a result.

The only real negativity has come from the politicians throwing blame to deflect from their own department mistakes. And sensationalist parts of the media jump in for their own reasons.

  • This could be a trip of a lifetime. Nuff said.

  • Here we go…

  • Great Deal here. Only the courageous, young at heart, chance taker, and the adventurous type need apply.

I'm sure there would be no short takers here since these are the Aussie spirits thru and thru after all. Oi oi!

  • Im from Victoria they might not let me into Brisbane in December the way we are going….

  • You would think that if they wanted cheap money to keep them afloat they would at least offer ridiculous prices.

    • I'd say they know their loyal (mainly older) market. Saw some being interviewed, saying they couldn't wait to get on board again.

Check back closer to cruise date for any bargains. In this Deal, Scoopon is taking it's cut.

  • I cruise A LOT. I can almost guarantee you this cruise will not go forward. Between scoopon and P&O, you could have difficulty getting cash back, rather than a scoop on or P&O credit if the cruise does not go forward. There will be plenty of offers once cruising actually does go ahead.

  • -1

Government surely won't let this go ahead. Who's going to foot the bill when they end up with another floating cesspool filled with pensioners.
P&O should just write off 2020 as a loss.

If pensioners choose to go back on this (and it seems they "can't wait" to go cruising again) it undoes all the hard work the rest of Australia has been doing for them, the at risk age group. 20 and 30 year old's staying at home aren't doing it for themselves.

I just don't understand the logic. They have a pension, house, everything and still think it's acceptable to go cruising…

    • Erm, lots of 20 and 30 year olds also go on cruises. Especially P&O.

      • -1

        I agree

  • I believe those who have recovered from the COVID should take on these trip.

    • Because you couldn't possibly get it again. Oh wait?… I think you could and it could be far worst than before.

  • +1

Came here for the comments. Lmao

  • Wow! I can't believe they are selling tickets to their floating petrie dishes so soon!

Everytime i think certain industries or companies could not be more greedy, they outdo themselves with flying colours.

No consideration for speading the virus from port to port. Only one person on board needs to have it and days later everyone will.

Greed and profit before human safety.
