I believe this warranted a separate post on its own. Although it is last gen Ryzen 5 3500u, I think for value for money and availability this is a pretty good deal in the current climate. I have found Lenovo deals etc have extensive waits for delivery 2-3 months and if you are after a laptop now this could suit.

Specs from JB Hi-Fi:

    SVA

It's a TN display. Run. Run away and don't look back

To be constructive and helpful, want to point us in the direction of a laptop for a comparable price with a better screen?

        • Reviews don’t paint a good picture of that screen either.
But US import, buy a new charger adaptor, guess it’s comparable.

@zander43: At under $1k I doubt you're going to get any kind of decent screen.

If you truly need a PS ready close to 100% gamut then you need to pony up for a gaming unit or better really.

          • @zander43: There's a big difference between a meh 300nit IPS display and a 220nit TN display still. The screen on this is truly awful, viewing angles brightness and contrast. For $50 more you could get a Thinkpad E495 locally, I'm sure there's other options for just a little more too.

            • @[Deactivated]: The Asus is a 250nit display, which reviews worse than that.
As I posted originally, this would be a good deal if you wanted quick local availability.
Every laptop at this price has a compromise.
As for a Thinkpad, again, there’s a decent wait. And it has other drawbacks.
              Each to their own.

    • Went there , having a look and end up not buying caused of the screen

    • Not the best for watching movies in groups but for a single person in front of the screen TN is perfectly fine.

    HP

    Run.

  • I agree. I bought one of the HP machines during the previous sale and the battery doesnt last 2 hours when watching a movie. Not sure if this is how long other laptop battaries last.
