Got it, happy with it. No dead or bright pixels. A tiny bit dim on left and right sides but that seems par for the course these days.
So much smoother at 165hz even for office work. Not until you see it do you realise the subtle flashiness of the mouse cursor on the old 60hz.

    • +1

For reals, a lot of people say 165hz is only needed for games but honestly everything just looks so much better on 144hz+. Looks like the startrack truck is outside with my 2 being delivered right now!

  • received mine too. Looks great!

  • +2

I received my 2 monitors to S.A last Thursday! They're beautiful. No dead pixels in either of mine. Very happy with the performance and look.
If you're tossing up whether to keep on waiting or to cancel and get something else, wait.

Ordered midday-ish on the 1st August for those of you wondering. Worth the wait.

  • My ETA was 23/10 and it's being delivered on Wednesday now!
    Ordered 10am on the 2nd.

  • Just received mine today! I ordered late on the 1st so would have just missed out by 6ish hours originally. Havent had a chance to set up yet but keen to get home to do so!

  • My ETA was 30/09 and I got mine today!
Heads up, If you've received the Dell invoice with a delivery date, it should come within the next few days of the date :) (They do this for all dell deliveries at work as well)

  • Just got mine! No dead pixels, doesnt appear to have any noticeable IPS glow (but that may be due to me being an amateur with monitors). Overall very happy!

  • +1

    Just received mine :)

  • Sweet mine just arrived, will have to set it up tonight after work!

  • Got mine, looks pretty good.

  • I have 1 bright pixel dead in the top middle of the screen lol. Worst position. Oh well guess i have to send it back.

    • +1

  • Mine has arrived in Brisbane as well. Trying to rearrange my desk setup now. So far so good! Need to calibrate the colours now

    • Let me know if you find some good settings.

  • Wow, mine arrived too! Despite Dell website never updated my delivery date from the scheduled date in October! A welcomed suprirse!

    • +1

      OMG… THIS IS SO SMOOTH… I've been using 60hz all my life…

      I can't go back now…

  • Got mine too, some moments of stress as the woman opened the side of her van, had a look, looked at the sheet, looked in the van again, looked at me, looked in the van again, moving stuff around, eventually found it. Whew!

  • They were suppose to arrive today didn't even arrive and put the tracking status as delivery failed, was suppose to be delivered by Star Track. Never had this issue with DHL express.

  • Arrived in Melbourne at 3pm.

  • Had all 3 of mine arrive today (Melbourne).
Poor delivery guy seemed exhausted, said it was crazy how many of these came in. No surprise.
Make sure to express your appreciation to those working hard to get our bargain monitors to us!

Super happy with the monitors, no dead/stuck pixels across all of them, the perfect triple monitor setup to replace my aging triple 24" 1080p setup.

  • Mine will come tomorrow

  • Melbourne and mine delivered here as well.. looking forward to setting it up tonight.

  • Startrack tracking shows it's delivered, but I didn't receive the item. Tracking also shows it's signed by some random person I don't know. Called Startrack, they told me I need to contact Dell to chase this up, what a joke…

    • like what?

      https://imgur.com/a/ykmvTsZ

      15:55 Delivered

      16:48 Arrived at facility

      :S

      • Sorry to hear - the random who signed for your monitor is a jerk

        • Thanks.

Now this feels more like a mistake by the driver, since it's been scanned again after it says it's delivered. Guess I'll wait until tomorrow before I contact Dell.

          • @DWD3-Jin: My guess is too many OZBers purchased this and Dell simply released too many of them in a day.
There is potentially an SLA that driver has to meet, but just far too many to delivered. It will most likely be re-attempted tomorrow.

Generally doesn't happen, but it had happened to one of my buyers, on a Friday. I had to chase it up Monday morning. Lucky it was delivered Monday morning. The buyer initially wasn't happy, but he was okay when the item was delivered Monday morning as he paid for regular post, and I sent Express. It did defeat the purpose of sending it via Express as I wanted him to get it by Friday.

It was marked as delivered Friday literally minutes before 5PM cutoff so I couldn't claim next day guarantee undelivered compensation. Honestly, I wouldn't claim if it is just 1 day out, but it was annoying coz. the buyer was initially confused and unhappy.

            • @netsurfer: Yep I agree, that makes sense.

Tho I'd very much prefer them to just be honest and say that "we have too many orders and there will be a delay" and I wouldn't be mad at that. This is hurting their reputation and their own customer service staff who was very confused on the phone :S.

              Hopefully I get it soon!

              • @DWD3-Jin: Yeah, same, would prefer them to be honest because this "mark it as delivered to avoid SLA breach" causes confusion. It does appear that he needs to return to base around 5PM. Most delivery people don't do that, but a small number of them do unfortunately.

Last time I had to call to chase up something similar for a buyer, the CSR wasn't sure the exact situation. However, I didn't anticipate delivery because by the time the item reached QLD, it was already later than usual. That close to 5PM delivered message surprised me (and did turn out to be too good to be true).

However, in your case, the expectation to have it delivered tomorrow (Tuesday) will be high.

                • @netsurfer: Yep fingers crossed. Thanks for the comments, really helps with my anxiety :D.

      • That has never happened to me before but possibly someone brought it back into the post office. Might want to call up Tullamarine PO, check if they have your package.

        • Thanks for the suggestion. The detailed tracking says it's last scanned at the Tullamarine delivery depot so its not a post office. Since it's been scanned again after it showed delivered, I would guess it's still with Startrack.

They probably had way too many orders to deliver and messed it up. I'll just be little bit more patient and give it one more day.

    • The monitor arrived this morning!

I casually asked the driver if he knows what was going on yesterday, he doesn't know. It's probably not the same driver(even if it was the same driver, I doubt he was just going to confess :D) and I told him it's okay, at least I got it now.

Pretty happy with the monitor so far! Thanks everyone for your comments.

  • Got mine today!

    Sydney CBD area

No dead pixels! Looks great 👍😍

One dead pixel in the top left corner of one of my screens… Thankfully it's usually hidden by toolbars etc.

  • got mine today as well, look beautiful
    order: xxxxx0146

  • Got mine today :) No dead pixels thank god… All I need to do now is download the software so I dont have to bother pressing the buttons behind the monitor :)

  • I guess someone wants his wait time to be paid for S2721DGF

    • Think I saw some dead pixels there…

  • Just got mine! Anyone know why I'm not getting 165HZ - using DP

    • What's it connected to?

      • +1

2060 super. Ignore my post - fixed by changing settings in NVIDIA settings. Thanks Yuri

  • Does anyone have an ETA on a new deal on these? I've been deliberating on whether to buy the Xiaomi Ultrawide or wait for this for the past week.

  • +2

Got mine today, just set it up.

No dead pixels and IPS glow / backlight bleed look minimal. Stand has really good ergonomics.

    165hz is really nice coming from a 2012 1080p 60hz VA panel.

  • Startrack says "attempted delivery" today but I was home all day and no one came, also no card. Now the monitor is still in transit over 30km away. Does anyone know what Startrack does at this point? They didn't drop it off at the post office. Might have to call them tomorrow.

    • Are you in Melbourne? We probably have a similar situation.(see the comments above)

I think they have two many monitors to deliver today and they couldn't make it. So they tried to be 'smart' and falsely claim that they came.

      • Gold Coast, but that could be the case. It still hasn't updated so they must not have dropped it off anywhere. Hopefully it comes tomorrow.

        • +2

You can call them tomorrow to confirm StarTrack will attempt delivery.

The reason it wasn't dropped off at your LPO is probably due to either the delivery person couldn't deliver that many in a day or it's too close to the time the LPO closing time (I doubt it is the latter). Attempted delivery is a technical attempt to not get penalised for SLA breach. The penalty could be full delivery charge refund to Dell.

Yes, it is frustrating, but considering Dell would have gotten a very good rate from StarTrack and the whole Covid-19 situation, try to give StarTrack another day. People have given Dell more than 1 month for this. To deliver these monitors require a fairly big truck. Unloading the monitor and deliver it isn't as simple as delivery a box / parcel. Hope you get yours tomorrow / Tuesday.

          • @netsurfer: Thanks. I'm not too fussed, I just don't want to stuff around and pick it up from some remote location or worse yet it's sent back to Dell. Fingers crossed for today.

  • I got mine today unexpectedly.

  • I got mine and set it up - looks beautiful. Very happy and impressed with the quality! Highly recommend people to wait for it! Many thanks again OP! :)

    • +2

Yeah I’m stoked with it. I’m replacing an 8+ year old 23.5” dell so it’s quite the change !

      • +1

aye. same boat. taking back what I said that it might not be worth it lol

  • Looks and feels great! does anyone know how to lower the monitor screen? I'm afraid i'll be too rough and damage it lol

    • You can move it up and down on the stand :)

    • Man up and give it a push. It's just a monitor. If it is that fragile, it is better to know it now then later on.

For a monitor with a VESA stand like that, I would normally turn the monitor 90 degree to plug the cables in then turn it back. You might as well test the VESA stand properly.

  • I have tested mine just now, noticed that while in white/blue/green screen, the edge is bit dark, that is bit annoying. I am using HDMI cable instead of DP cable, is this panel issue or HDMI issue?

    • sadly panel issue

    • Yeah, just a limitation of this panel. All of them have it.

    • -1

If you are using 60Hz or 59Hz, change that to 120 or 144Hz (as 165 is not support on HDMI). Re-run the test.

The 59/60Hz implementation isn't great. However, if moving to 120/144 resolved that issue, it is somewhat okay (since you would be using 144 or 120 most of the time). The 59/60Hz issue could be resolved with a firmware fix. However, it is unclear whether firmware update is possible on this monitor and whether Dell would bother to release a fix for it.

It would be good if you post a photo.

If moving to 120/144Hz made no difference, or you were already testing 120/144Hz, then really need to look at the photo. It could be IPS glow which basically is a bit of panel lottery.

      • My laptop is 144Hz, so assume monitor is also using 144Hz. If this is IPS common issue, then that's fine. Thanks all.

        • Double check. OS may default new monitor refresh rate to 60Hz (to be safe).

  • Received my today. Everything is absolutely perfect! Been using a 24" 60Hz for 15 years this baby is like getting a new super model girl friend. Shhhhhhh… don't tell her. At least now she can't complain that I have extra 3".

    • +1

      Hi all,

I myself finally got the monitor today. it was a long journey but finally got there.

All seemed fine except, I noticed something that was bugging me on the monitor. which is on the bottom edge of the screen there is a faint horizontal line stretching the entire length of the monitor. The line is 1 pixel thick and is transparent, Its not dead pixel because its very light/transparent line. So you cant really see it until you look close up and its there(its on the very bottom second last row of pixels). Now that I know is there it is more visible as I use it.

I just wonder if this is normal and anyone who has the monitor can you validate the horizontal line showing on the bottom of the screen?

I have the LG 27GL850 and I dont see this line. No line or either sides top or bottom of screen.

      • Damn it, now that you mentioned it I noticed it on my monitor too! Exactly what you have described and I am not joking either.

Personally it doesn't bother me. I had to look hard at it when playing a 4K video to notice. Funny enough, it lands exactly on the grey outline so you can't even see it!

        • +1

What's the current refresh rate set by the OS? By default, it might be set to 60 or 59. If so, change it to 144 or 120 and try again. The 60Hz support for this monitor isn't perfect.

          • @netsurfer: Many thanks for the information. Since this is my first new monitor in 15 years I was expecting the greatest of Microsoft Windows would be able to detect it and install it properly. Took me a long while to find the refresh rate setting location to have it changed to 165Hz instead of the default 60Hz. Unfortunately the semi-transparent line is still there but it's barely visible to know it's there. You have instead resolved a much bigger issue for me accidentally!

      • Check the refresh rate currently set for the monitor by the operating system. If it is set to 60 or 59Hz, set it to 144 or 120Hz and try again. If you still see that in 144 or 120Hz, then you need to decide whether you want to keep it or send it back and get a refund.

Though, given that you have the LG 27GL850, it is likely you are already running 144Hz.

Any chance to get a photo of it?

        • Hi

I haven’t checked the refresh rate set on windows on the dell monitor. Currently have dell as secondary monitor with my lg 27gl850 as my primary. I already configured in windows with lg monitor as 144hz so I take it I don’t need to configure seperately for the dell monitor.

I will reconfigure and test it out some more. But I’m interested to hear any others seeing the line.

          • @masteroftrades: Didn't know that Windows 10 would match the second monitor's refresh rate to the first one. Considered we have people having issue getting the refresh rate on the second 1440p/144-165Hz to operate above 60Hz, it is worthwhile to double check.

Faint horizontal line stretching the entire length, kinda greyish colour? At 60Hz, this could appear on this monitor. While that doesn't appear to be the case at 120, 144, when using this say on a console, it will be interesting…

            • @netsurfer: I just tested on 120, 144 and 165 hz on the dell monitor which the line isnt there and it only appears when it is on 60hz or 59hz. By the way this was through the display port.

I tested out on HDMI with PS4 and the line is there. So seems like the line appears only hertz lower than 60.

So would you consider this as normal? seems like Woodlands has confirmed he has it so maybe its happening with all the monitors in this model.

              • @masteroftrades:

So would you consider this as normal?

Normal for this model: yes. Normal for monitors: no. When I tried to point out the 60Hz implementation isn't great, I got negged. We don't have enough people checking this and reporting their results. Most people would probably switch to 144 or 165Hz right away.

Thanks for testing it on a console by the way as that rules out it is a PC only issue.

My take is that this is a firmware issue (which would be correctable). However, I have never done any monitor firmware upgrade ever before. It's also unclear whether Dell would release a firmware upgrade (prefer to assume no).

Hoping more people can report their findings on this. DarkOz reported 165,144,120 didn't fix his issue though. It's also unusual reviewers didn't pick up this issue. It could be certain batch or firmware.

                • @netsurfer: I tested it on 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz and 165Hz and the line is still there. In saying that it's a very very faint line at the bottom of the screen in which I don't normally look it or even stare at anyway. If you are in Windows you can't even see it because it's at the bottom outline of the taskbar.

Personally I think this is a non-issue. I wouldn't have noticed it had masteroftrades not mentioned it. This is much better than a dead/lit pixel or two or as someone reported shadows on both sides.

      • I can see this on my unit too, same location on the screen. Funnily enough I have had the exact same issue with a Sony OLED TV, and have tried to get it repaired for years. It's near impossible to capture on camera, and each time a repairperson came to inspect the TV they insisted they did not see it and would not exchange or repair it. I eventually was able to have them exchange the entire panel but the transparent line remained. Since I can now see it on this monitor, I'm beginning to wonder whether it's just something with my eyes as no one else can see it. I have also spent those years trying to find the issue on Google and no one else seems to have reported anything like it. Curious to hear from other people here if they have seen this.

        • Could you please double check the refresh rate? If it is set to 59 or 60Hz by the OS, please change it to 165, 144 or 120 and check if you can still see that line.

There is currently insufficient number of results to draw any conclusion. For some people, this is a 59/60 Hz issue only. For some others, it could happen to all frequencies. No reviewers pointed this out so this could very well imply earlier batches don't have this issue. The current guess is that this is a firmware issue.

          • @netsurfer: At 59 and 60Hz it appears as a much darker and more visible gray coloured horizontal line. At 120 and 144Hz it's a transparent line - not really noticeable in day to day use unless you're looking out for it, and once you know it's there you can't avoid seeing it. It's the same result using different devices through HDMI. Do not have any DP devices available to test how it appears at 165Hz.

Visibility of the line depends on what colour is displayed on the screen. E.g. using the built-in diagnostics tool on the monitor, the transparent line is really only visible on the gray screen. The black uniformity is also pretty bad, but reviewers have already pointed that out.

      • is probably the trinitron aperture grille.

  • Hi y'all. I bought two of these. So far so good in terms of quality.

Have an old gtx 970 which I really should upgrade. I'm able to get 144hz on the main connection to the gtx thru hdmi.

The second monitor connected to the gtx through display port connection (the card doesn't have another hdmi) can only get 60hz and one resolution setting down.

If I connect the second monitor to another non gtx hdmi port (intel graphics input) then I can get the full resolution but still only 60hz. Any way to get 144hz on both monitors with my current card or do I have to upgrade? Not sure whether it's a cable problem either…

    • I'm using a single S2721DGF with a GTX970 connected via display port and was able to get 165hz straight away with no issue. So it's not a GTX 970 + display port issue. Possibly some kind of complication due to running two monitors.

      • +1

Thx for the reply. It was the cable. Had one display port to hdmi cable which was limiting res / refresh rate options. Got a dp to dp cable and now works perfectly.

  • Mine arrived today, also in Melbourne. Very pleased so far, no bright/dead pixels or any issues to report. 120/144 Hz feels like a dream compared to 60/75 Hz.

I saw the fabled "FreeSync: On" toggle in Radeon Settings for all of about 3 seconds before both of my monitors lost display signal… seems like I need to repaste my R9 290X again…

Until then, I'm back on the old GTX 670…

1440p, "only" 120 Hz, 8-bit colour with no adaptive sync support. Puts a bit of a dampener on the experience but alas.

The quality of this display makes the old LG 27EA33 it's paired with seems really, really garbage by comparison. It's an old IPS monitor, so of course I expected the Dell to be miles better, but wow.

Here's some 2k HDR videos on youtube to test your monitor. Ensure you set the video quality to "1440p60 HDR" (didn't for me at start).

Real 4K HDR 60fps: LG Jazz HDR UHD (Chromecast Ultra)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkggXE5e2yk&ab_channel=TheHD…

COSTA RICA IN 4K 60fps HDR (ULTRA HD)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXb3EKWsInQ&t=13s&ab_channel…

My settings are as follows with 165hz on DP and am pretty happy with the result:
    Preset Modes: Standard
    AMD Freesync: On
    Response time: Fast
    Dark Stabilizer: 0
    Sharpness:0
    Smart HDR: Game HDR
Brightness: 65% (Can't change? maybe due to HDR on)
    Contrast: 75%

If you have any recommendations or settings that enhanced the quality for you please comment below :)

    • Probably worthwhile just load up the RTING profile to check if it suits you better. I tried it out of the box and can't fault it. It might not be the best for all monitors as they have different factory settings.

For the unlucky ~18% of those who ordered on 02/08/20 but still have it marked as "Confirmed" via the order status page.

Check the status of your order via https://dellpleportal.dbschenker.com.au/ETA/ETAquery?Length=… to see if you get a different result.

I've checked several orders which are still marked as "Confirmed" on https://www.dell.com/support/orders/au/en/audhs1?NoRedirect=… but on the ETA query page show up as "Your Dell Order No 876161468(456903614) has an ETA of Between 22/09/2020 And 23/09/2020. Call customer support on 1 800 812 393, If you would like our friendly agents to help you resolve an issue with your order."

    • I checked my order ending in 4570 and got the same result: Your Dell Order No 876164570(456908602) has an ETA of Between 22/09/2020 And 23/09/2020.

I have been speaking with a service rep who advised my order will be delivered by the end of this week so I think its accurate.

      • same, hoping this is true

      • So I'm guessing you don't have any tracking details either?

        • +1

No my second order doesn't even say shipped, but my first order had a tracking number that did not track and I got it yesterday after being shipped on Friday.

So I assume there will be another lot of shipping today or tomorrow.

        • No did not have any tracking details. I've well placed in my apartment to look out for a blue Star Track truck ^_^

      • Just checked and this order has been marked as shipped.

    • Thanks! Following the courier link shows ETA of tomorrow for me.

edit just got sms that parcel picked up by StarTrack and delivered tomorrow. Which is good for Sydney-Brisbane.

    • this website is more accurate thanks

    • I just got a shipping update in SMS says it got picked up and it’s coming tomorrow :)
