Make sure you keep the room as dark as possible when performing the test.

    • +1

Yours does look worse. However, are you looking at it at a direct angle? Your photo does kinda look like it was done with a long shutter so the IPS glow issue would be amplified in the photo.

While the IPS glow on mine is better, the backlight bleed is pretty bad (for an IPS). So, kinda feel likes let the backlight bleeds more so it feels like less IPS glow. I cannot complain on the IPS glow on mine (still there, but good enough for IPS), but the backlight bleed is not ideal. But, it is IPS so when displaying black, it is full blast of backlight.

I know this will upset a lot of people, but objectively, you get what you paid for. This price is okay / decent for this monitor. However, there is no doubt we are paying some premium for high refresh rate.

      • Yeah you're right it wasn't dead on and my phone struggled to focus in the dark room so it was definitely amplified. You make some good points, I think I can live with it considering the price and I am generally in a naturally lit room anyway

    • +1

I'd say that's moderate. Not the best but I've seen way worse.

      Here's mine for comparison.

As you said it looks much worse in photos, I barely notice it in normal usage.

  • Order # 629xx

Ordered 02 AUG 0955pm via Paypal.

    Just got mine now!!

  • I'm getting a really bad IPS glow at the bottom left corner, how do I contact dell about it?

  • +5

Looks like the page is finally back but the price is at a whopping $899. Codes like AUAFFILIATES15%OFF and SUPER7 bring it to $710 which is more in line with it's competition but still a hefty premium over this deal. Hopefully it'll go on sale in a few weeks.

    • +1

Mid October apparently. But I'll be keeping my eye on it starting next week.

    • was down to $510 and sold out again.

  • Missed my star track delivery yesterday here in Perth Their depot is too far away. Can only schedule for redelivery next week Tuesday

    • Yeah, I had to call them.

  • Hi all,

I am having trouble to get the speakers to work for this Dell monitor.
I have windowos 10 and have selected the audio output for the speaker.

Windows does detect sound whilst music/video is playing but no physical sound can be heard.
    Any tips to further troubleshoot?

    • +1

I just figured there are no speakers, but there'
      Is a headphone jack

    • -1

Look at the spec sheet mate

      • No speakers. Just 3.5mm out

    • There is no speakers mate.

  • Any fellow 2721DGF owners having same issue or can provide some advice on the issue?

Sometimes when I power on the desktop, there will be a "no DisplayPort signal" displayed on the monitor.
I need to power down the desktop (hopefully doesn't damage the desktop), wait 10 seconds, and power back on from which the BIOS then boots up as normal.

It's a bit random, my old monitor never had this issue (was running on HDMI).

    • Hey I think that happened to me.

I put it down to me doing a Windows update and resetting my Pc… On reboot there was no display.

Had to turn off the PC a couple of times and then it worked.

Not sure if it's a hardware thing or firmware thing.

      • Thanks Circly.

Happened to me yesterday first bootup in the morning. And first bootup this morning.
Next power down / power up works however seems a bit strange.

        • +1

I'll monitor (pardon the pun) this behaviour and report back if it happens again.

        • Can confirm its happening again.

It was after another Windows update though.

Switched PC off once… Nothing, no DP detected. Turned off monitor and back on. Nothing., no DP detected.

Checked my DP cable was connected properly, seemed to be.

Then after a minute or so it just connected and the windows logo was up.

So I don't know if it's related to windows updates or not. Seems more like a coincidence.

          • @Circly: I've had that a few times with my older 1080p Dell - I think the PC has frozen or not booted correctly, then a few seconds later login screen pops up.

            • @gizmomelb: PC isn't frozen, HDMI still works. Turned off fast start-up (power button settings) and did the nvidia firmware update. Didn't work.

Though it hasn't happened since I powered down the monitor for a few minutes about 3 days ago… but I doubt it's fixed. Input Auto Select is also off right now.

Seems like a few people have this issue. Thread 1 Thread 2

          • @Circly: It hasn't happened since I've left the power on without powering down the monitor. Previously I had powered off monitor, turned on desktop then powered on monitor.
So it's in sleep mode when I power on the PC, takes like 4 or 5 seconds for monitor to register the DP signal, then works as normal.

Give that a go and see if it works.

      • I just knew it took a bit longer than usual to boot compared to my previous main monitor. Like by about 4-5 seconds.

However, never have any issue in having to manually power off the PC.

    • +1

I had issues where one of the two screens wasn't working but a quick Ctrl+Shift+Win+B would fix the issue (it restarts the video driver).

Hope that fixes the issue for you.

Got mine delivered the very day after having my Laser Eye PRK Surgery. Eyes still bloody blurry so haven't set it up yet. So good! :D

  • After using it for about a week I have to say I'm extremely impressed with this monitor. The colours look amazing and the response time is the best I've experienced from any monitor. My only complaint really is the viewing angles, it's worst than even my VA screens if you look at it from a diagonal direction. But hardly an issue in normal usage. Mine has some BLB in the top left and somewhat extreme IPS glow in the bottom left but the right side is near perfect. Black uniformity overall looks excellent on my model with no clouding visible. I'm also impressed by the contrast ratio, this does not look like a 900:1 contrast ratio but maybe I got lucky?

It works great on Xbox One X (and Series X when it's released) due to being able to support 120Hz at 1440p with freesync on over HDMI. Only issue is with PS4 Pro (and I'd imagine by extension the PS5) with the lack of 4k signal support, so it can only support PS4's 1080p output. Hopefully Dell adds the required EDID in a fireware update.

I had to tweak the settings on mine to get it looking normal to me. I went with custom and set the RGB to 98-93-100, and added 2 points to red offset and 1 point to blue offset. Also bumped the contrast ratio up a tad to 77. It's probably not colour accurate but compared to my other factory calibrated monitors the colours look near identical.

  • Monitor received. First impressions are it's a great monitor. Took me awhile to get settings calibrated like DPI scaling etc. 100% DPI on 2560x1440 was just way too small for me.

I was really surprised by the amount of stuck pixels, as they were black stuck pixels. Found about 8-10 all up, but after a extremely gently touch, they all disappeared. Haven't found any dead pixels yet.

I've left the picture settings on standard and turned brightness down a little. Will probably change these when a general consensus is out on the best configuration.

  • Just received a $60 voucher from Dell for use on purchases over $120. Use by 5/12
Came from this deal as I haven't bought anything else. Doesn't specify but I assume due to the delays?

Looks like mine just bricked itself after a week or so. Two months of waiting for it to arrive, then for it to fail is pretty disappointing.

    • +1

Good luck getting a replacement. Mine was DOA. I've been trying to get a replacement for myself since last week, Thursday. Here is the latest response I've received.

"With regards to the replacement monitor, the parts availability issue is currently due to warranty replacement stock no longer being available, eve in external part warehouses.

As an alternate, we can request for brand new sale stock to be used as a replacement, however, these also ship form outside Australia, and due to incoming flight restrictions within Australia, delivery of the replacement monitor may also take 14-21 days.

If you would be okay to wait 14-21 days for a new monitor to be delivered, simply reply to this email thread with your confirmation, so we can arrange this for you. If the turn around time provided may be too long, then we can go for the refund option instead as this can complete within 3-5 days after collection of your current unit."

After waiting 2 months for this monitor. I'm not ok with a refund.

      • Oh no. That really sucks to hear. I just sold my Samsung monitor too. Bricking after a week is not cool at all, DOA is even worse.

      • Just a quick update - dell have approved the claim for a replacement monitor. I’m awaiting a date however on their site it’s a 10 day turn around for the model currently. https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-27-gaming-monitor-s2721…

        • Unfortunately, I doubt they will send you local sales stock. They're arranging a new system to be built for me and the estimated turnaround is 21 working days according to the email I received today.

          • @melenvision: Yikes. That’s truly disappointing if so. I haven’t had confirmation of a scheduled delivery timeframe yet. Once I do I’ll update it here.

          • @melenvision: Looks like you’re right. I’m battling with a dell manager now and they’ve offered me a refurb if I want it sooner than 21 business days. And even then it might be longer than that.

So disappointed after waiting 2 months for this and then it fails so quickly.

            • @tkotk: So after they picked up my old monitor on Monday, to my surprise a new monitor arrived at my doorstep today after reaffirming me it would take 14-21 days. So hopefully you'll get yours soon too.

              • @melenvision: Works all good?

                • @Circly: Yes, no issues. The box came sealed unlike the first time and the power button actually works now.

Played for a couple hours last night on Xbox One X flawlessly but then today the intermittent black screen issues struck as had been mentioned on WP. Unsure what mix of settings has sparked it so going to play around for awhile. It's interesting my ViewSonic of similar specs so hopefully find a solution.

    • Holy heck, played again this afternoon and every time defending our ships on Squadrons it started going absolutely bonkers blacking out, but on attack it was fine. So very strange. Have it set to 1440p@120hz on Xbox One X in HDMI 2 I believe. Going to have a play around on HDMI 1 and then play later on PC to see how it goes but wow it was super frustrating blacking out that constantly

      Monitor is gorgeous otherwise

      • Apologies for replying twice to my own comment - couldn't find a way to edit comment.

For those playing at home / if anyone stumbles across this problem too with Xbox One X, so far the only solution I have found is strictly not have the Xbox Display Settings set to "AUTO" in Video Modes. For some reason this disables being able to have 1440p@120hz, but allows 1440p@60hz or 1080p@120hz without the black screen flashing all the time.

A little annoying in regards to Xbox, but hopefully it's not the case with the Series X

  • guys if this monitor is not what i expected can i do a refund without any issues. Only thing stopping me is the potential restocking fees

    • Dell does have a change of mind policy if you return it within 15 days of invoice date. You could try speak to them if it's after 15 days and see if they can waive the restocking fee. What about the monitor is not what you expected?

  • Anyone else get stuttering when playing youtube videos at full screen at 165hz? Using a Gtx 1070 here.

    • Changing to 120hz for normal use seems to have fixed it. It will still run up to 165hz for gaming.

      • How does one change between refresh rates please?
Also, does this monitor support daisy chaining? I can't seem to find a DP1.2 setting for it anywhere.
Edit: When I press and hold the DP input option for 8 seconds, the box pops up for enable/disable DP1.4. But I can't select Enable.
        I"m running a:
HP 840G5=>HP Port Replicator USB-C Universal Dock->DP to the HPZ27n IN port ->DP to the Dell S2721DGF
        Both screens are replicated.

        • +1

I go to desk top and right click and then click on the Nvidia settings.

From there you can change display refresh rates. I assume it's a similar process for AMD.
