I just picked one of these up from bulk rubbish at the front of my apartment block. Same specs, except 4GB RAM. Works perfectly :)

      Lucky you!!!

      Nice :)

      What's your apartment block address?

Now you got me wondering about the Panasonic LCD TV on footpath outside the block of flats nearby.

CRT our on the nature strip near mine if you want it

If it’s a monitor it might be worth something? No idea why but some of the gamers I used to work with were obsessed with testing crts a couple years ago.

    • At that price point you're far better off waiting for a Techfast deal

    • That’s more than twice the price and not SFF. Only one in stock.

    • Yeah the Dells have a rep for being hard to put a GPU into.

More difficult? Aren't there meant to be businesses going under left right and centre?

    • +2

Pandemic is making logistics much harder, so they're probably sitting in offices unused, instead of being recycled.

Plus I'm sure a lot of businesses wouldn't be upgrading, either due to financial circumstances, logistical difficulty, or simply because their employees are all or mostly working from home.

A lot of machines that were due to be recycled are going to employees for a WFH set up

As an alternative, SFF HP 800 Elitedesk G1s with the same specs (apart from 500GB HDD) still pop up every so often on eBay listings for under $200 (if you ignore all the ridiculous listings seeking top dollar).

From my research the HP 800 G1s have plenty of space to put a low profile GPU in the x16 PCIe slot. Some Dell SFF PCs force you to put any dedicated GPU in the slower x4 slot, due to the power supply unit limiting space near the x16 slot

    • I have a HP 800 G1. You can also fit 2 x 3.5" HDD and 1 x 2.5" HDD

On the Optiplex you can only fit 1 x 3.5" and 2.5"

  • Looks like 480GB SSD and 16GB RAM is $375 on the same listing. That seems like better value?

    • Yes, I think $85 extra up front is a better choice

  • is the Dell monitor any good? any suggestions? trying to set up my Dad up for web browsing.

    • +1

      TN panel :(

      • +1

I think the substandard resolution is the bigger put off

    • +2

Dell monitors are traditionally decent quality (at least with regards to build quality, input ports and built-in USB) but it's not even full HD…

    • +1

No probs for web browsing. Should be reliable.

      Not full HD though.

17% dearer but better value imho:

    - Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF
    - i7-4770
    - QC 3.4Ghz
    - 16GB Ram
    - 128Gb SSD
    - Win 10

    • OoS though

      • They come and go, keep an eye on the listing.

  • This deal is okay granted 8gb ram and ssd, but was probably better with previous sff deal. You could upgrade to same specs for less imo $167 eBay deal

    • The deal is now $209 but I'm still tempted as I can use the 8Gb DDR3 I have in my current computer and finally upgrade to the 16GB I got ages ago. I've also got a 750GB SSD to put into it as well.

  • Is this GTA5?

  • Anyone know what stores I should keep an eye on for refurb laptop deals?

  • Seems expensive for a circa 2014 computer without a monitor.

Also nobody cares about 'Grade-A' for a desktop PC. This isn't a mobile-phone.
