Oppo Find X2 Pro Black (512GB, 12GB) - $1147.00 @ Officeworks

1110

Just stumbled accross this deal, which seems like a great price for a newly released phone. Seems to be the cheapest I can find it in a walk in store. As pointed out below, possible pricing error.

Comparatively, this goes for $1449 on sale at JBHIFI. Find X2 Neo can be had for $897.00 ($999 @ JB) https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/oppo-find-….

    • Dam lucky, i was 10 mins too late. Got to JB and its oos

    • Mostly because Huawei is a major telecommunications hardware provider

    • Huawei phones have no GMS, that is the major difference.

  • unavailable online…..

  • How's oppo experience, worth paying this much money for Oppo as I always bought samsung and iphone. Using s10 5g atm, worth the upgrade?

    • Much better than exynos version samsung

    • +1

Im using oppo Reno 5G. User experience wise samsung is better. Samsung allows you to change audio output for Bluetooth easily, not oppo. Occasionally i have issue connecting to even 1 Bluetooth device during call. Oppo's RAM management is too aggressive so even though i have 8GB RAM (More than my note 8 6GB) but recently app gets closed very quickly.

But of course this is just my experience

  • Still available for C&C from select stores (e.g. QV Centre Russell Street, Melbourne) and online in Vic, WA and SA.

  • Still available for delivery.

  • unavailable for delivery or CC, based in Brisbne QLD :(

  • Bugger, I got out of stock. Tried delivery and click and collect.

  • Will this be available instore officework?

    • Online Only deal my friend

  • Compared with the note 20 deal from this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/556426,
    Which one is better?
    Thank you.

    • +1

This. But if U like wireless charging and pen then go for note but I had the note 10 plus and sold it later

Pen didn't get used as much to justify it over S10 and don't use wireless as often

    • -2

      Note 20 < This < Note 20 Ultra

      • +3

        Note 20 > Note 20U (exynos) > this!

        • +1

true lol i wasnt goin to feed it but glad u fed the sammy troll lol

          • @agalea101: lol oppo fanbois are amazing. I meant this is better than Note 20.

            • @SpaceNinja: Hehe I knew ud bite that

It's all good my ozbro I'm just playin

I love all phones equally. Just feel a bit of a slap in the face with Exynos vs Snapdragon sitcho

              Sent from my galaxy s20

Man, are people out there paying nearly $1500 for an android smartphone?

At least with apple you can justify it by saying the buyers are idiots and the phones are """premium""".

What does this do that affects your day-to-day that's significantly better than a $500 android?

    • +2

This is 1147. Lol that's how I justify it

I was considering pixel 4a but been mirrin this for a long time.

And I'm Gunna pay top dollar for this then some basic phone

      IMO that's all

      Edited

      • And I'm Gunna pay top dollar for this then some basic phone

What do you mean by this..?

    • I guess this one has dropped down to $1.1k now, but yeah still hard to justify for me.

My $250 Oppo works just fine and will likely last just as long as this one.

      • The principle just barely changes because it's $1.1k vs $1.5k but I do agree a little, hence I put $1.5k in my post just for argument's sake.

Exactly right though, I have a OnePlus5 I got used for $300 and it's working great. I honestly can't imagine the things you'd need to do to get beyond the capabilities of a mid-spec android phone.

If you wanna take photos, buy a DSLR. If you wanna play games, get a PC or console. The very best phone still does a shit job at those comparatively.

        • +10

You're extremely close minded if you think (1) people have the same budget as you (2) people have the same performance needs as you from a phone (3) people want to carry a DSLR to take snaps for the gram (4) people only want to game when they're at home (5) you can almost understand why Apple products command a premium but can't understand why the same applies to Android.

          • -3

@spiff: 1) I'm not suggesting people have the same budget as me. I could afford any phone, I just choose not to because it's a dumb thing to spend over 1k on.

            2) I didn't say that either, I said I couldn't imagine what those needs are. Would be happy to hear about them if they exist?

            3) I assume you mean people don't want to carry a DSLR for the gram, which I understand. But there are plenty of phones below $1k that do that? Even my OnePlus is pretty decent in most cases.

            4) Then get a switch or a DS. Moot point really though cause I don't see people buying this for gaming, do you?

            5) I did say almost - at least there's an air of premium wank around Apple. I can almost understand it, not saying I think it's wise lmao. You're not getting that when you get an android (barring maybe flip ones or that sort of thing) so why bother?

        • +5

I bought a Mate 20 Pro from marketplace for $250, which was a score. If I didn't find the Mate 20 for such a great price then I probably would have spent more on a phone just to have a better-than-decent camera. I don't want look back in 20 years and regret having crap photo quality because I wanted to save a few hundred dollards. This is the only reason I would buy a high-end phone.

          • +1

@lucyrenegade: That's absolutely fair and one of the main reasons I upgraded previously. But you can still get a decent camera for below $1k in myriad phones.

            • @[Deactivated]: why would you spent 500 dollars when you can get a phone less than 300 dollars?

Why people spend over 3000 dollars for a limited edition phone while you struggle others spend 1500 dollars?

Why would people buy a porsche vs toyota, which both will take you from A to B in similar time?

Money is all to be spent. Difference is who ever owns it make the call.

              • -1

                @ghostdom:

why would you spent 500 dollars when you can get a phone less than 300 dollars? Why would people buy a porsche vs toyota, which both will take you from A to B in similar time?

                This is a false equivalency.

If the argument was that simple no one would ever have these conversations. The point is that you don't have to buy a porsche or a toyota (though perhaps a 10yr old hyundai would be a better example in this instance) because you can buy a Golf GTI or something and get a balance of expensive and good features.

I haven't seen any convincing arguments to suggest that balance point is at over $1k for a smartphone.

    • +2

120Hz screen blows those 500 androids away and you will never look back to 60Hz without hating it :), the main camera using SONY's top sensor at this moment for best photos that 500 phones barely can compete, you can charge your phone with just under 40' from 0 to 100%, etc. in general, it is worth that 547 extra :)

      • -1

I'm not saying it's not better. But functionally, do any of those things really make it that much better that you could buy two whole mid spec phones and have a cheaper phone for twice as long?

Just feels like everyone's coming up with excuses to spend 1k on a phone. Suit yourselves I guess.

        • +1

Why? Have you used this phone? If you haven't used any top of the line android phone in the past year, I would suggest you give it a try.
It's day and night difference to a mid-tier phone. Try this phone for 1 week then go back to your $500 phone, then we can talk.
And in my opinion, apart from IOS vs Android (personal preference anyway), this is twice the phone to the best iPhone offer.

          • -1

@johnttt: I haven't used any of them, no.

I just haven't heard anyone be able to put into words what is actually better. Mine does everything day-to-day perfectly well, to such an extent that I'd be very surprised if it would be worth upgrading for 1k+. The camera is the only thing I can really picture getting significantly better, everything else would just be minor incremental changes.

Nothing is slow, I'm not missing any features, the screen is good. What's so much better about a flagship android?

            • @[Deactivated]: mid-tier phones these days would outperform top phones from a few years ago which were also fine. You get used to whatever you use whether it's a 2k phone or a $500 phone, after a month you'd most likely be satisfied with what you use.

      • curved narrow screen

        no wireless charging

        no thanks

  • Gotta find a nice screen protector. Anyone can recommend one? I guess hard to find the tempered glass version?

    • +2

I would stick to the one already on it. Been using mine the last 2 months and it works just fine. Hard to find a glass protector that fits properly being a curved screen. No point using a soft one either replacing the built in one.

      • not only that, this oppo phone uses Corning Glass 6, so, really don't need to peel the original screen protector off :)

    • just go naked and be super careful .. with mega curved screen it is not worth the hassle of a protector

  • +2

Price matched at JB hi-fi in Artarmon

    • Lucky bastard. I missed it by the minutes :(

    • Lucky you. By the time i reached JB, price has already changed to $1447. Fxxk..

  • +2

    price back to $1447…

  • Back to 1400 looks like a price error

  • Is it really a deal in comparison to the Reno 5g which was $599 at Harvey Norman earlier this year?

    • +3

this has way better screen with 120Hz refresh rate 3K resolution, IP68, faster and better CPU and GPU, bigger storage, super fast charging, and supreme cameras

    • Depends if the curved screen edges and hole punch camera bother you. Plenty of us bought the Reno 5g because it didn't have those flaws.

      • Missed that deal . How's your experience with that? Display quality, performance?

        • Good enough. The display is fine, not the brightest but it does have good response times like any oled. Performance is good enough, it's all reasonably fluid. The only fault I've found is with Chrome, which can sometimes freeze when loading a new page. You have to go back to the homescreen and then tap it again to get the page to update.

          • @thatguyfromthatplace: Good for the price you paid. Hope something similar comes soon at that price.

            • @Mkm: Poco f2 pro is your best bet right now.

            • @Mkm: go to your local HN, they still have Reno 5G but a bit more expensive now at $647

  • Price back to $1447 , seems like some data entry kid is in trouble.

  • such a good phone!

  • +1

Oppo last year flapship Reno 10x zoom was selling $599 this year, don't be surprised this one will be selling $599 next year this time.

    • What was the RRP when it first released?

      • 1599 :)

        • Price reduced very quickly

          • +1

@Mkm: Yes, Android drops value very quick. Good phone tho, I'm using Reno 10X (not 5G), hopefully next year upgrade to this…lol

            • +2
            • @jassssone: how's it like using that phone? performance, display quality? Do you find missing something?

  • Anyone anticipate/experience order being cancelled?

    • not really need it, just purchased because it is good price (OzBaragin itch lol), either honoured or cancelled would not bother me at all but some of us will update here if they cancel the order

    • Just checked my account, my phone on its way to the nominated OW pick up.

      • Amazing hearing people are getting the deal…totally jealous

  • Over 1k for Oppo. What's with the phone market these days….. Flagships should be kept just below 1k

    • Thats what I am wondering. I also bought it , but I may be just returning it when it arrives. I am samsung user and that also costs about same money or more , but for oppo can't justify the price.

      • +1

the 3K res 120Hz 1billion colour 800nit brightness AMOLED is A+ grade, super fast charging (from 0%-100% in less than 40 minutes), 512GB storage, 12GB RAM, SONY's top tier sensor for main camera, visual engine to enhance video etc, these things you cannot pay Samsung less than 1k2 to have.

        • The specs look great , but can't justify the price for oppo, for samsung may be. I've been using samsung for couple of years and I think samsung has the most features among other android out there. I already bought this considering cheapest available at the moment, but I think I will be returning it looking at the comments and I think like last year it will get cheaper later this year or next. I am not sure if someone will prefer oppo over samsung?

          • @Mkm: I can easily say I well prefer Oppo over Samsung. Oppo's price will drop, it always does.

        • High specs doesn't mean much. Just look at Huawei after they can't get GMS apps on it they ain't as attractive and they still priced too high.

Oppo sister company Oneplus has much better OS and offers more value for money. Although the same cannot be said for their oneplus 8 or pro.

I would rather get oneplus 7t pro less than 1k but i don't need one

Whoever thinks a punch hole on screen for front camera is better really need to rethink. Phones have gone backwards with no retractable full screen experience

          • @neonlight: I mostly used samsung flagships so don't have much experience with other companies. I agree that using one plus 7t pro will have very good experience, without any notch or punch hole, I also wanted to get that but couldn't find any better deal which will work flawlessly in Australia network wise.

        • Hardware ain't shit unless you got the software to back it up. This is where other Chinese companies fall short. Great image sensors but bad processing. This phone does have top marks on DXO.

      • It's very good phone with top hardware, the price you got from deal is still very good as of now. I've been using many phones and can say the top flagship's hardware is pretty similar, the most important thing is whether you like their UI, which you will be using everyday, go to the store and have a try oppo's UI first.

        • I bought oppo a52 from recent deal here , and its really good phone for the price I paid , but i just use it as a hotspot. But when I consider flagship, I think samsung has best user experience and more features like always on display, samsung dex, samsung cloud backup, microsoft integration on windows laptop etc.

  • Who thinks this phone will be below $1000 by this time next year? Wondering if it is worth using 28 degrees or just use JB giftcard?

UPDATE: The Oppo Find X2 Pro from Officeworks got delivered today! Super speedy & Officeworks have also updated their online price from $1147 to $1447 as expected :)

    • Enjoy!

    • I'm still waiting for delivery.

    • I am now kicking myself for trying to price match at JB and failed, instead of ordering from OW before it was OOS

    • That's awesome, can you please share the receipt or invoice?

My local JB promised to price match, but the phone was removed from their system while processing, the guy said to call him back later today to give another try.

      • Did you need a Tax invoice from an officeworks order so you get the price matched? Do I need to leave the invoice / transaction number on the invoice or can I black that out ?

        • That'd be greatly appreciated and helpful to get JB to price match, and yes please, black out those information would be a good idea

          • +2

@Adamxl: How does this look? https://ibb.co/5YsXH46

            • @graceyym: Can't get any better, much appreciated!!!

              • @Adamxl: Happy I could help, let me know how you go :)

                • @graceyym: No luck, local JB said they don't match a price error, even I can provide receipts : (

Thanks for your time and effort massively!

                  • +1

@Adamxl: Thats a shame! Hopefully there is a price drop of sneaky error somewhere soon!
