Belong $25 Starter Pack for $10 @ Coles

190

Starter Pack Features.

  • 10GB Data (+10GB double data on the 1st payment date)
  • Unlimited national calls & SMS.
  • Unlimited data banking.
  • Unlimited data gifting.
  • No lock-in contracts.
  • Telstra 4G & 3G.
  • Flexibility to change plans once every monthly payment cycle.
  • Data slows to 64 kbps if you use all your monthly allowance.
  • 12 month SIM expiry (from the purchase date)

Here is a good option for getting the most out of this starter pack. Before you activate make sure you get a referral code from a friend already with Belong or the OzBargain Belong pool for an additional $20 credit.

3 Months 22GB - Activate on the $25 10GB per month plan. When the first payment date comes you'll already have 10GB data plus you get another 10GB (Double Data). After the first payment date switch to the $10 1GB per month plan for the 2nd & remaining months. The first 3 months cost is covered ($25 starter pack credit plus $20 referral credit) and data rolls over every month or can be gifted.

Double Data (1st month only)
DO NOT port/activate on these dates 4th, 12th, 20th, 28th. These are the start of new payment cycles. They are the same every month. One month worth of data is credited on activation, and another on your first payment date, 1-8 days later. So you effectively get double data for the first monthly payment at no extra cost.

A good option for sim slutting between the Kogan 90 days $14.90 plan now the Catch 90 day deal has ended, although not as much data.

Sims are valid for 12 months from the purchase date so you could buy a couple now.

    • Currently with belong and considering doing this but will they always offer double data tho? 3months with only 12gb data isn't gonna cut it for me

      • +1

It's been like this for a long time but who knows what will happen in the future.

Don't forget you're not locked into a plan, so you could leave after 2 months and it would only cost $5 per month.

        • When you port back to Belong, can you use the same email? If so, do you still get $20 referral credits after apply a random code?

How long does the email stay with Belong after numbers is gone? Does Belong delete the email with no service?

          • @Neoika: I don't know, still with Belong for the first time. I assume that when you cancel your account it's totally wiped.

          • +1

@Neoika: You can use the same email to port back in. Not sure how long the account lasts without a number but I can still log in to my old account after porting away a month ago.

I accidentally ported away the wrong number so ported it back in 2 days later and my old credit was still available in addition to the starter pack credit/referral.

        • Think I stuffed up. Got my bonus referral and activated on $25. Had $20 credit left. Got my extra data today and then switched to the $10 plan. Think I got charged the $10 immediately so only have $10 credit left now. Should I have waited until tomorrow Arthur Dunger? Though it does say my next payment is $0 so maybe not.

          • +1

@englfc: Should be fine. The remaining credit was like that with mine too.

It might be a starter pack but my experience and that of many others, will tell you they wish this nightmare company will end.

    • +1

That's been my experience with Telstra, so the way I figure it might as well pay less for poor service.
Read the last few pages of this poorly handled deal by Telstra.

      • Had the same exact issue last week with Telstra negging on one of my Telstra cashrewards and just noticed today my cashreward is back thsnks too cashrewards persistence with Telstra,.. so my opinion my Belong service so far has been much better then my Telstra services, Also Telstras live chst feature is pretty much like Belongs messaging service as you don't always get a live response straight away, they make you wait

I agree with Arthur your better off paying for the cheaper headache,, too me same sht different bucket

But certainly ive learnt the hardway with any new telco service signup always keep records, notes and screen shots of the signups and deals you do with them

Edit: also note very important Belong is a postpaid service not prepaid service and yes Belong make you pay upfront like a prepaid service so when porting out of Belong you'll need your Belong account number for when porting too another provider

    • What happened?

  • -4

Belong will recommend your service and Bill you then refuse to refund you until the Telephone Ombudsmen intervenes. They will do this each year on your anniversary of your imprisonment contract. They will send all claims off to the debt collectors and wreck your credit rating. Your involvement in any of their actions is completely optional as they are highly proactive in helping themselves to your money. Don't read the millions of reviews about Belong as you will feel an idiot for ever having joined them.

    • +2

To be fair you haven't actually explained what happened. Also your comment is confusing because Belong Mobile don't have contracts, you can leave anytime you want.
I've been with them since the start of the year and helped 4 family members join. I don't feel like an idiot at all.

I've put a link to the customer terms in the description.

      • +2

My experience has been great too. What people don't understand is that this is a post paid plan.

      • +1

Hey Mate, did you or someone you know on Belong Mobile want me to gift them some data? I have 400 GB spare and about to cancel my service. Just thought I would pay it forward! :)

        • id love some dave if your offering! :D

  • Thanks for all the info about data, wow… I found it same price here now of you can't wait 2 days. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/557467

  • Can you still go on the $10 1gb plan as described in instructions, I heard its not available on the website. https://www.belong.com.au/mobile/plans/small-sim-plan

    • +1

Yes you can, after the 1st payment date.

  • After the third month i can just continue paying $10 a month for however long i want? And keep my data.

Only reason i would do this is the Vodafone 3f and optus 3g in my area is horrible and most likely congested i need to go outside to make calls etc…

  • I recently (11th) ported to Belong and it says my next payment due date is 4th Sept. Does that mean I get free service from 11th Aug to 3th Sept?

  • When do I have to activate the SIM? I'm still in contract until Sept. Thanks

    • +1

You have a year but I've activated sims more than a year old.

  • I just activated today 13/08 and it says my next payment and 10gig is due on 12/09 - guess no double data for me maybe, I should have waited another couple of days…

    • Does the next payment show $0?

      • Actually yes, it says $0 due 12/09…now I am confused…also where on the account can I see the $20 credit I have on the account for using a referral code…it showed it at signup but now I can't see it anywhere?

        • $20 referral rewards shall show under history. Also under payment overview you shall see "credits applied $20".

          • @apple0604: Nope nothing there - during the signup process the very last step gave me an ooops something went wrong, try again later and it seems that in that step the $20 went missing…oh well, will open a ticket and hopefully get it sorted out. Thanks for your help.

            • @amberflamber: $20 credits won't show up straight away under payment overview. Vaguely remember it takes a day to show up. So check tomorrow. But that error message doesn't sound good. I had the same error before. But in my case $20 was applied by system automatically next day. I didn't have to do anything. In your case, my guess is that if your sim has been activated successfully then $20 should work too.

Also, if next payment due is $0, then $20 was definitely applied and it won't show until tomorrow.

              • @apple0604: Thanks for your help - I will wait until tomorrow and see what happens

                • @amberflamber: Yes do that. Two months ago when I activated my second sim I had the same error message and when I tried again half an hour later I got the message telling me that my service was active already. It is their system which is not very good.

        • It means next month it will use your credit. Which means until then your credit hasn't been charged.

          • @TomGum: Shame I am not getting the double data first month though…oh well…

            • @amberflamber: The double data works this way.

You get instant full data as soon as you sign up but not charged. Then when the billing cycle kicks in you get another full set of data. So based on your plan, you should end up with 20gb data and pay $25 that covers you from 13th Aug to 12th Oct.

              I hope that makes sense?

              • +1

@TomGum: Belong might have changed rules about their billing cycles and double data. In his case, his billing cycle is from 13th to 12 next month, not the fixed cycle, such as free use till 20th Aug and then the next billing date is 20th Sep.

                • @apple0604: I found the bill cycle to be random. I signed up and my fist payment shows next month. Where as I signed up my partner and hers show 20th Aug. Which means she only gets 7 days free and I get about 23 days.

Eg. I signed up on 11th Aug and it shows 4th Sept as my first bill.
Partner signed up today and it shows 20th Aug as first bill. Very odd.

                  • @TomGum: Has she switched plans yet? Might have to do with switching plans

                    • +1

@ballistykx: Can't change plans until the first charge goes through. That's the concept, yes?

                  • @TomGum: Yes very odd. This is not what it is used to be. I have my first service with them since end of 2017. I got error messages every now and then with their app. Had to contact them via their website by leaving messages. Then they told me always try to go to their website to login there. Also services had been good for me (where I live) till early Feb this year. It just kept on dropping.

              • @TomGum: I understand the concept, but my first payment is set for a month away and not 1-8 days away. I wonder if I had just waited one more day it would have worked the way it was supposed to…

                • @amberflamber: But this is good though. You get a whole month free, compared to the 7 days as others?

                  • @TomGum: Yes - I was just thinking that! It does say zero payment due first month..it’s a mystery it seems!

                    • +1

@amberflamber: I would much prefer to have more than a month for free than double data. Nowadays data is cheap, isn't it?

                      • +1

@apple0604: Yep, looks like it’s coming up roses for me today! From disappointment to delight - lol

                  • @TomGum: I just ported my husbands phone over too and his first billing date is August 20 - I guess it just must have been my lucky day today to get a whole month free - I will take it!

                    • @amberflamber: I hope you referred your husband. πŸ˜€ If you did your referral rewards should be instant as soon as his porting is successful. Your $20 shall show under history straight away.

                      • @apple0604: I was too scared - I heard about people getting banned and Iosing their numbers and I have had this number since mobiles were invented - lol

                        • +2

@amberflamber: Members were getting their accounts closed because they had multiple accounts in the same name. It had nothing to do with referring family members.
That's the whole point of the referral system. Belong want you to do this so they get more business.

                          • +1

@Arthur Dunger: Not sure about this. I referred my husband and one week later his service was cancelled. He used a $40 starter pack. He lost all the data and his number. He didn't have multiple accounts and I have one service with Belong and one service with Vodafone. Another friend also had similar experience but he had a lot of data and didn't used his service for at least couple of weeks.

  • +1

Arthur, just a short one to confirm I have received the double data as you described and now swapped back to the $10 plan.

Thank you very much for posting the deals!!

  • +1

Where to enter referral code btw? It only asked for my details (I stopped on the page of entering Sim Number though)

    • It asks you in one of the signup pages which if i remember correctly you need too hit a plus button of some sort to open a referal code box too enter the code, its sort of hidden so look very carefully on each page

  • +6

Hi Guys, I have about 400GB of spare data that I can gift to people before I cancel my service in a few days. Hit me up via PM with your number and depending on the amount of responses will depend on how much GB i can give you :)

    • Just curious why you're canceling?

      • +4

Its a bit of a funny (expensive) story, so I signed up to Belong NBN a year ago and it comes with the "free" $80 mobile credit, so my parents were over from NZ for a month at the end of last year so I set them up with the Belong SIM to use with the plan to cancel at the end of the month. I thought they might as well get some use out of the $80 credit as we had 12 month mobile plans with Boost at the time. Well I got an email from Belong saying that my 12 month NBN contract is finishing next month and that ill be on a month by month which is $5 more a month. So i logged on to the portal and found that i had over 400 GB of data!!! So checked my credit card statement and sure enough i have been getting charged $55 for NBN and $40 a month for mobile service!!! I have learnt an important lesson to check my credit card statement more carefully from now on!!!

        • +1

          Omg! Feels bad man.

I'm about to switch to belong nbn tmr actually on that $55 plan. How's the peak speeds for you?

        • Something I dont like with Belong your forced too use there direct debit setup and have a payment system setup (credit card or paypal), also the threat you'll loose your number not doing so and was shocked also too fing out this is a postpaid service but forced too pay upfront as a prepaid service

But I can't complain with there $10 plan and some of there freebies and unlimited data shaped at 64Kbps πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒ

  • I ported to belong today, can I change to the $10 plan tomorrow before my first billing date? and if so, how would that affect my data allowance/double data?

    • You'd want to wait to see your double data allowance shown up on the dashboard before changing to the $10 plan.

    • No, you can't move to another plan until after your 1st payment date, which will be the 4th for you.
