Battery is tiny on this one, with 46Wh for a 16 inch screen and powerful components. Techtablets only got around 5-6h in his battery life testing for the 4700u model, which is pretty poor.

  • How's the warranty works?

    Back to sender in overseas?

  • Waiting for Honors laptop

    • This has a much better screen.

  • Great deal for the specs. Does the Windows 10 Chinese work comfortable in Australia without any restrictions?

  • Are these touchscreen?

  • Anything with dedicated graphics?

How fitting that a ripoff of Amazon's website is selling a ripoff of a MacBook.

    • +1

How is banggood a ripoff of Amazon? That's like saying any of Amazon's rival marketplaces are a ripoff of them

      • -4

Compare the page design. I honestly though I was on an Amazon page.

        • +3

Yikes, you should vist your local specsavers, not opsm spec okay lol

    • A rip-off of MacBook for a third to a quarter of the price with better components? Sounds like an excellent deal to me. This is… OzBargain, you know? Are you sure you're in the right forum? It's not OzSplurge.

Looking at the link details, it seems like one of the USB ports in only a USB 2.0. Come on, we are in 2020, who even uses USB 2.0??

    • Thats a major ew

    • +1

Meh I'm sure nearly everyone has a logitech dongle for an mx master

      • Good point. Uses MX Master to click "post comment"

      • What you mean you dont connect using BT???

    • ALL latest released laptops at this price point—from Lenovo to Dell to HP to Acer and ASUS—have a combination of USB 3 and 2 ports. The USB 2 ports are meant for input devices.

  • Deliver before Easter 2021?

  • RMB 3599 / 4299 on Mi.com, which is AUD724 / 864.

    • cant figure how to buy it from their website

      • +2

They dont ship outside of china

        • China has a GST equivalent of 17%; I'd think banggood would've qualified for that refund. Postage is ~$60 or thereabouts, plus warranty costs, S/H and Australian GST.

It's a good deal for Banggood; just about a OK deal for consumers IMO.

    • Cheers couldnt find it myself grabbed one.

    • Do they have a 14" with Ryzen? Couldn't figure it out from their site. The one you linked is not even listed under notebooks (clicking on Redmibook 16 only shows Intel configs).

  • As much as i like xiaomi phones, all the other type of products that carry their brand doesnt seem reliable. Better value and warranty from recent Lenovo and Dell deals.

    • What other products have you used in particular?

      • toilet seat, gloves, air purifier

  • +1

No webcam? That seems like a bit of a weird omission..

  • +1

Screw it, I've been waiting for the perfect ryzen laptop for like 6 months now - pulled the trigger on the 4700u.

    • The MagicBook Pro from Honor have the H series renoir apu (more threads)

      • +2

Yeah I'd still prefer this for the lower thermals.

      • +1

Lower thermals, lower power, and presumably quieter fans… but a pretty powerful package.

  • No webcam?

    • web cams are over rated. Most Teams or Zoom meetings I use my phone and can still use my laptop for other things at the same time. If you really need a web cam a $50 USB one will beat most laptop web cams.

  • Can I use Amex to pay ? I need to spend some money on my card to reach $3000 and get bonus points.

    • Ignore this. I think PayPal is allowed

  • Killing of webcam for thin bezels is such a poor form.

    • +1

Do you really need a webcam on the laptop? Using the one on your phone instead not only saves you a few bucks but also screen real estate while webconferencing.

    • Some laptops have the webcam inside a popup key on the keyboard. Could've had the best of both worlds.

  • Wow this benches better than my 3570k. How times have changed

  • +1

These are pretty heavy (1.9kg) so beware

    • True. With Ryzen 7 4700U and a 300nits 100%sRGB WVA IPS 16" screen, I'd say it's a pretty good budget config for video/photo editors (who, like gamers, are not typically going to be taking it around that much).

    • +2

Wait for a sale on the Redmibook 13 or 14. Similar specs but of course smaller.

  • No webcam, small battery, soldered RAM, questionable warranty process and you'll need to re-install Windows. As much as I love Xiaomi products, there at better deals available.

    • Which ones do you have in mind?

        • Worse screen though (in nits and sRGB, and also slightly smaller). Also, no ready to ship r7-4700U option.

          • @wisdomtooth: At least it has a webcam…

            • @stephendt: Do you really need it on the laptop though? Doesn't your phone already have one? All laptops reviews I saw in which there was a webcam complained about the image quality. We may be going through a bit of a tech transition, in which you either use your phone's front facing camera, or you use a good one (perhaps even your phone's back facing one).

  • Am I missing something? US$765 is A$1066.6 in XE.

    How is it A$1088.6?

  • Anyone knows if this has a glossy or matt display?

  • Is everyone paying shipping insurance on this?

    • If you pay with paypal, you already got insuranace right?

      • Good question I'm not sure.

  • Can Anyone confirm their Gocashback Au tracked this purchase at 10%? Because it looks like it should be 5%.
