Called around my area and found out that all the stock at OW was gone…one mentioned that even the display models had been gone…with that idea in mind, i called around again but they were all gone as well.
Finally rang up Wentworthville, which was a bit far out and they had one…went to pick it up and while they were taking the security tag off the back, the guy accidently scratched it on the back cover…the marks on it were pretty big - he was apologetic about it and knocked it from 249 to 190 on the spot and gave me 50% off any cover of choice. .
so in total, i came away with a display model with case to cover up the marks for 215!!

Order the 32GB 3G model on OW and pick up local store for $399. Ironicly their website still lists 16GB 3G $588 and 32GB wifi only $678. WTF. There is no brainer for me to go the cheaper ones :-) Thanks OP and make me spend another unintended purchase :-)

Did you receive a confirmation email from OW online? That is the proof for your purchase.
Kotara was sold out of 16gb wifi but had stock of the other 3. I picked up a 32 gb wifi!! $299 is the max I was prepared to pay well done OP!!
Was unable to pricematch at JB HiFi. At first they said they would do the 16gb wifi for $249 for me but they didnt have any stock. They wouldn't match the 32gb wifi for $299 since no Good Guys/Officeworks have stock anymore. Oh well.
Nice - this is the tablet I was considering until I got a $149 TouchPad.

its not real money, like an actual gift card you can buy stuff or visa card. it's kinda of limiting as only for music and ebooks! so I dont think it's worth $100 dont think you can sell for close to that compare to say a myer giftcard!

Syncing this thing on a Mac is a pain, had 2 spend 4 hours figuring out…. but finally got it .. guys, just download android file transfer software from googling if you have sync issues

Nope, but is compatible with basically any bluetooth keyboard.
There is a iconia branded one, or logitech tablet keyboard for android 3.0+ if you are after hotkeys.

either copy the files to a micro SD card or USB flash stick (or USB HDD) and then just play it.
I can't recall the file explorer I use ('astro' something), it lets you browse the USB storage and then just double click it to play the movies etc.
I have a comic reader, media player, minecraft tablet and a heap of emulators on my Iconia (inc. 2000+ arcade games running under MAME, an Amiga emulator, C64 emulator, ZX Spectrum emulator, NES, SNES, SMS, Megadrive and N64 emulator plus lots of classic games - even nicer is you can bluetooth tether a Wii controller, plug in the Wii Classic controller and then play games using a joystick. There's a commercial program to bluetooth tether a PS3 controller as well, that'd be less to carry than a Wii controller and classic controller). Love me the old skool gaming.

No one in Adelaide posted yet? Maybe I'm the first. Bought the 32GB 3G from Good Guys @ Gepps Cross. Plenty left. Apparently one guy came in and bought 30. Speak to Damien or Viju. Tell them an asian guy came into the store after 5pm today and got a small discount off the sale price.
Yay! Got the last 32gb wifi one @ Chatswood for 299(though it is a display model) - they said they are going to have a stocktake sale on Monday and if you are lucky they might find a few more units. Will go oversea soon so another $27 off!

Hmmm …. Maybe not available in Western Australia. I tried the search, even changed the postcode a couple of times in the store selector box and no match for Iconia. (Get a few "icona" toasters etc though!) :)
But I don't know how smart there online system is … I'm at a remote mine site just now, internet delivered by satellite and thegoodguys.com.au site brings up a map with Yulara (central Australia) on it before it's overlaid with a google map centred on the postcode that I put in.
If it's very smart, it might think I'm in the Great Victoria Desert near the WA / SA border and so no delivery possible and so no "hit" from the search engine.
Drat too coz I just bought an A500 16gb from HN last week for $386. But that was for the missus so there should be no objection to me buying one for myself at $249, if the deal is going down here in WA as well.

I've seen some comments of people purchasing the tablet in WA but from Good Guys.
Some comments above state that the Iconia has been removed from both the Good Guys website and the Harvey Norman website. That is perhaps why you cannot locate it on the website.
You can probably call some stores tmr to check.
I haven't had the best experience trying to pricematch at HN though. I just received a lot of crap about under cost / out of stock.
anybody have any luck peeling off the barcode sticker with the SNID?? damn that thing is tough, using my nail to poke at it millimetre by millimetre. Please someone tell me there's an easier way.
Last time i claimed something needing to send in the SNID, I just cut out the cardboard. After doing that, there may be several layers of cardboard that makes it thick. I removed the top layer (the layer with the sticker attached) and sent that entire layer in. Claim went through.
Slid a sharp knife under the sticker, however this damages the box. I had no luck with trying to peel the sticker off.

I got the sticker off perfectly, in one piece, with no visible marks on the box (you can't even tell where it was)…
No real secret, just a thin knife almost parallel with the box to start it, and then slow and steady ;-)

At 8:40AM, Good Guys Osborne Park WA was the closest store which had the A500 16GB wifi (Joondalup,Clarkson,Malaga and Midland, were out of stock). I placed an online order soon after.
Picked up item at 9:40 Am, salesman suggested that I get a second one.
Jokingly, I asked how many could I get, he asked someone and then came back and said "as many as I would like".
This was of little interest to me, I was happy to just get one (after just missing out in the HP Touchpad fiasco)
Ahhh… Reading through this thread, it seems like the Iconia has now been discontinued (or at least the A500 and A501). Damn I wanted to hold of just a little longer till the sales before xmas for a better bargain, but seems like now I've missed out until HN and JB drop their prices and they probably won't be priced as low as this lot were.
I guess the other non-apple tablets will drop price too - transformer and/or xoom…

I have done the claim at about 23:00 on 27th and there was quite a delay, but it worked.

Mine come with 3.0.1. Even if the one you got has 3.2, there are still ways to downgrade, root, install CWM, because I just did that, LOL!
Yeah I hope so, been reading some people that got default of 3.2 couldn't root even after downgrading.

I spent all last night driving around for the A500 16GB but no one had any left. They must be sold out all over Sydney in both the good guys and office works. I guess you snooze you loose.

I have been checking the prices closely to grab one of these for my son's birthday.
At this price, I will have to grab one now, but I only confused how to order one online as I tried a couple of sotres and I can't even locate the damn thing. It's not listed under tablets nor I can use the search box using acer or iconia returns no good results.

I also gathered that you can order over the phone but that means I have to call each store individually to check stocks and I am at work now and can't spend too much time on this.

They've taken it off the website… the only way you can get it from Good Guys now is to go into a store and hope they have them left.

How do i do that? i tried erase all data tried the little pin hole reset button, nothing works. Off to good guys now to hopefully get exchanged or refunded
