Not for $1000 I would rather go find any job I can get to save that up.

    • yes I dont think its paying very good

Paying around $1000. Would you do it?

I could only afford to pay $200, will they accept that?

        • I think he means they are paying him $1000. I still wouldn't do it but if he is the paying them? Tell
          em they're fooling themselves!

          (edit," sorry.. 'her' )

@EightImmortals: I should have added a 'j/k' tag when posting?

            • +7

@Hithere: Never. Explanation is the death of comedy.

  • I'm young and healthy, so I'd do it assuming they provided accommodation for self-isolation and that kind of thing.

    • +2

It depends what phase it is. But one of the points of Phase III/IV trials is to prove efficacy - so self-isolation is the complete opposite of what we want trial participants in these phases to do.

      • +1

But it works better if you don't get exposed…

Another one of your ridiculous posts.

Like seriously Pam. Do you not have better things to do with your life than ask OzBargain what to do when you lose your car key?

    • +6

You forgot the the best one.

      • She's a doozy

  • +8

Think of all the face masks you could hoard and corporate events you could attend for that cash… maybe even buy a space key for your car…

    • -3

at least face masks keep the bad smells out

  • +3

well like most trials there will be 50% of the people given the vaccine and 50% of the people given a placebo..,.

so you'll have 50% chance of not getting the vaccine . good odds

  • The real question is do people have to declare it as income?

    • probably yes

      • -3

        Then pass.

It's not worth getting injected with poison.

        • +2

          It's a vaccine. Not chemo.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: They're injecting an untested vaccine into human to observe the side effects.

            • +1

@whooah1979: That's not the definition of a poison.

Also, they're observing more than just side effects. They're observing all effects.

        • +1

  • Are you even sure this is legitimate? Half sounds like a scam.

    Plead "Not Guilty".

  • I have been asked to take part in a vaccine trial. Paying around $1000. Would you do it?

    Which one though?

    • -2

I dont have all the info yet, not even sure if I want to request the info. Dont really want anything to do with this virus, but a part of me wants to help eradicate it

      • +1

Dont really want anything to do with this virus

Ok then, don't do the trial then.

But interested if you knew which vaccine it was.

      • +8

a part of me wants to help eradicate it

The other part wants more money.

yes I dont think its paying very good

And you don't know if you want to take part because you don't have all the info yet you're not sure if you want the info because you don't want to be associated with the virus, the virus that you want to help eradicate.

…but only if it is worth your while.

        • -1

its not about the money, there are bigger issues to consider

          • +7

@screensaver: How can you possibly consider "the bigger issues" when…

I dont have all the info yet

How can you get all the info if…

not even sure if I want to request the info.

@[Deactivated]: Please stop highlighting Pam's lack of logic and completely inconsistent statements.

We are all very much enjoying these glimpse of the bizarre and fascinating mental wilderness that has grown within her unchecked by reality or sound advice.

              Don't ruin this for us.

      • +2

No you don't. You want $1000. No one with half a brain would subject themselves to any form of medical testing if they are fit and healthy. So I think you should go for it.

        • Ive had a good year, I dont need the money. As for half a brain, no treatments can be found without testing, so we would be without many medicines.

  • Why would you not put a poll for this question?

    • -1

couldnt see the poll link, did a quick look for it

    Im in for 100,000

  • +1

You could pick up a superpower as a side effect. That's gotta be worth a grand.

    • +4

Disability pension is not a super power…

…but it is worth more than a grand.

      • +1

        LOL

But I still think they'll make you sign an indemnity waiver or something.

  • lets face it, we all might have to take the vaccine one day to get back to a normal world

    • I don't think anyone here holds the contrary opinion.

      • -4

except anti vaxxers, scaredy cats etc

    • +4

Yes. One day when the feds take away our civil rights.

    • +1

Are you not already immune to reality?

  • +1

I’ve had 2 things try to kill me in my life, and that poison won’t be one of them. They can shove it where the sun don’t shine….
If others choose too all the best i hope you don’t end up looking similar to Shrek 😂😂

    • I'm a bit out of the loop, but is referring to vaccines as poisons standard lingo if you are a non-believer of vaccinations?

It was said earlier as well.

      • +2

There are people that don't want small little critters injected into their bodies.

        • +4

          Critters refer to living things.

Even live-attenuated vaccines are not actually "live" and that's about as close to living as any vaccine gets. Viruses aren't living things therefore you are not getting critters injected into you.

      • Big Pharma want exemptions from prosecution regarding the Covid vaccine, The have paid out Billions in the past, it’s going to be rushed, Fauci (American) has said the best they can hope for is around 50% but hopefully up to 75% effective, With Corona Virus it’s infinite. i heard him say it from his own mouth. He also stated that the measles injections are around 97-98% effective with little side effect as a comparison

        • Ineffective vaccine does not equate to a poison.

Yes, there is a potential for side effects but to call a clinical trial a poison mill would also mean historically, everyone taking the final market version of a vaccine as a trial would have also been taking poison, ergo all vaccines are poison.

          • @[Deactivated]: Everything is a poison if you take too much of it, even water.

            • +1

@Mechz: The definition of "too" is that it is excessive.

The definition of excessive is that it is dangerous.

      • It is going to be a massive rush job, and no one will know what the long term effects, if any, will be. Also, for the vast majority of people, covid will be a minor inconvenience, and (apart from Melbourne), we have naf all cases here anyway.

        • +4

People are just having knee jerk reactions.

Vaccine = fewer covid deaths. They ignore the potential that a poorly made vaccine could potentially lead to a higher total mortality and/or morbidity rate.

Just as the lockdown issue. Not that I have an issue with this lockdown specifically but there are scenarios where the action of locking down could in fact cause more deaths than covid itself. Think starvation, suicide, riots.

People are so fixated on the covid issue that they forget there are other ways to die.

          • @[Deactivated]: You have me confused mate which probably isn’t hard but you said

Ineffective vaccine does not equate to poison

Then on the the other hand you say

Vaccine = fewer covid deaths. They ignore the potential that a poorly made vaccine could potentially lead to a higher total mortality and/or morbidity rate.

The second reply was more to my point initially.

            • +1

@lost in transit: Two separate statements, both can be true at the same time.

An ineffective vaccine can both be ineffective because it does not work or the side effects outweigh the benefit (if any).

So, this trial vaccine could be plainly ineffective but a faulty vaccine pushed out into mass circulation could cause more harm than good.

              Hope that helps.

    • We have a live one folks

Take one for the team, it's about time you gave back to this community.

  • There is no need for trials. The Russian have done.
    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/dr-fauci-says-russia-risks…

    • And there was another nut bag Dr in Australia spruiking something stupid the other day, like red bean soy sauce or something equally as useless. I’ll see if I can find it, but when I read it, I thought, WTF is this guy on about…

      • +2

What are you on about? It sounds delicious!

        • Better than that Miracle Mineral Supplement!

          • @DashCam AKA Rolts: Nothing wrong with MMS either.

            Keeps my pool clean.

    • Well there you go, His will be rushed also. i have nothing against personal choice, if people want to try it it’s up to them just be careful, try and get as much info as you can.
Hopefully it wont be forced and the proper long term trials are met.

  • Precise verifiable details please or this didn't happen.

    • -1

      its by invitation only

    • +2

      It's a handpicked random clinical trial. ;)

  • +1

Poll is missing the option " HelloSpam should do the trial, donate proceeds to charity and post live hourly updates on progress"

    • poll rhymes with troll, randominternetfacts

  • +2

    You're on a roll.. #pollmoll

  • I wouldn't be a guinea pig for a measly $1,000. There are plenty of homeless people, prisoners and people living in 3rd world countries that should be offered this vaccine before us.

    • We also have around 10% of the working population on unemployment right now ….

  • The nitwit name must have been taken

  • If you doing it for the money imo it isnt worth it - if your doing it becuz you are trying to help fight this virus and make the world a better place then it currently is then i'd say go ahead.

  • Just a said comment reply to all who reads it how much would they have to pay you to participate in a COVID19 vaccine trial?

I would consider it if it was over the 10k mark

What have we suddenly ran out of people in prison and defence force?
