Nice freebie but no delivery available at my address.

    • I keep getting a message like this.

      • Seems to work now. Think it was a Google pay issue.

Kept trying and it went through for me

      • +2

Went through for me after 10 or so page reloads. I just knew I need hay straws very badly.

  • site iS doWn

  • +1

Made it to the checkout but 503'd :(

    Edit: Checked out! Thanks OP!

  • +3

Site is not optimized for being ozbargained 😂

  • +10

I was checking out and saw someone else's name and address already preloaded on the checkout page

    • +5

Yep, same for me. Made me back out from checking out. @Rohan, if you ever see this. Just know your details were shared with a complete stranger.

      • +1

sheesh, seems like a very exploitable and devastating bug, hope it gets fixed soon

  • +1

It's working for me - I clicked the apple pay icon on iphone.

But I backed out before finalising the purchase. I'm wary of these sites harvesting my details….

  • +1

Thanks OP. Hopefully the taste good. Not a fan of paper straws

  • +1

Who's from heidelberg here ? 😂 He is trying to snatch my order by prefilling the shipping 😪

  • Site down?

  • website struggling to handle the OzB rush lmao

edit: Kept opening new tabs and my order went through. Took a few mins

  • +4

Serious security flaw with other people's details on checkout page?

  • site unavailable

  • Gave up after trying to check out 4 times…

  • -5

SHOP part of the site is now Permanently offline!

Looks like the Owner of Haystraws took the site down whilst people were ordering, and he/she could not handle the orders!

due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems

The site is probably just being Ozbargained right now. If the site was actually taken down, no one would be getting through

  • +1

    Not available to WA.

    • +5

      You drew the short straw.

  • +1

    Damn, down already

  • Eventually went through.

  • Note that hay straws are pretty thin and delicate. Not suitable for drinks like smoothies.

Also don't get misled by the phrase '100% biodegradable'. It means that these hay straws willl ONLY biodegrade in the compost with special treatment. i.e. Cannot 'biodegrade' naturally.

    • +1

I dunno man, reading the description these are literal just bit of straw that have been washed. I’d argue that hay is 100% biodegradable and can ‘biodegrade’ naturally.

Some products do claim 100% biodegradable but that is only true under certain circumstances. This is not one of those. It’s hay. From a field.

    • It means that these hay straws willl ONLY biodegrade in the compost with special treatment. i.e. Cannot 'biodegrade' naturally.

      That needs explaining.

Are you saying that plants don't biodegrade?

      • +1

These products are not plants in their original form. They're likely coated with "bio-degradable" films. These films may need special treatment to compostable.

Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

  • I got through. Let's hope it actually arrives lol

  • +1

Ordered successfully. Took a fair few attempts, kept getting 503 error but it eventually makes it through after reloading page several times.

  • +3

    site is biodegraded.

  • +1

Managed to get an order through. After many attempts.

    • +1

      me too

  • -4

Looks like we are STRESS-TESTING his site for free!

I hope these Straws actually arrive!

  • Just keep hitting refresh whenever you get stopped. Took about 4 minutes to finish the order

  • took about 10000 clicks and refreshes but finally got there

I am so looking forward to my 10 straws!

It was on the abc landline once I remember.

  • +1

    They have another website?
    https://www.haystraws.com/pages/shop

  • +5

I kept getting someone else's info in my cart, it told me their address and name. Just a warning, seems to be a security fault.

    • Me too!

      • +6

It is a caching error due to the misconfigured server saving their information to the server, it happened to the steam website server for an hour. Even more reason not to fill your details to thir form, if they can't handle this, I wouldn't trust their cybersecurity.

  • website down by the looks of it

  • +5

    Stainless steel straws are better

    • +3

And only $4 at Kmart for a pack of 4!

    • And it kills lol

  • +1

    Working again, just ordered

  • -1

Neg removed. Was able to order 1 min ago.

  • I just ordered one also. Hope it arrives.

  • HOSTING COST >> promotion cost

  • +1

Ordered 30 seconds ago no issues! Will be interesting to see if the item is received…

  • For those who are getting a 503 error:
Proxy directs to available web server, no available = 503

Just wait and it will come back. The shop did not take itself down intentionally, just chill

READ THEIR PRIVACY POLICY!!!! Sounds shady as hell!!! They take your device info.

"When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device".

    • +2

At least they have a Privacy policy… what do you think you tell websites about you? check out https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/ or https://www.deviceinfo.me/ - this is open information

    • +1

don't use google chrome, install privacy addons.
They already know your time zone based on your shipping address, they already know your IP address because you're using their website (your IP address isn't like a phone number, it's less sensitive than you think).

    • +2

There's not a site in the world that doesn't alreaady do this. It's basic information gained when you do anything online anyway.

  • +1

Just placed my order no problem. Was forced to put a company name for the shipping which I thought was strange. Edit: going by the reviews they usually supply hotels, bars and restaurants.

  • Finally went through after several attempts.

  • I think I watched this product a couple of weeks ago on Dragon's Den UK.

  • Ozbargained. 503 error ;)

    Edit: never mind. Works now…

  • 503 service unavailable

  • tough site to get through but finally got there … phew!!!

Freebies being posted on Ozbargain = free load testing.

    • +1

Their load testing is below 7,500 clicks (Error Msg evident). Poor Load capacity.

If you're concerned about plastic in the ocean, stop eating marine life.
Half of the plastic out there comes from discarded fishing nets.

  • +6

Expired. They are now charging $2 for the sample.

  • -5

    Hi Ozbargainers!
We’ve had an enormous amount of sample requests! To cope with the increased load, and to ensure legitimacy, we’ve had to put a small fee on the sample packs so we can get them out to you ASAP!
While you’re here, why not buy 100 for only $7!

  • +1

Mine costs $2 plus $6 shipping

  • +6

    $2?! Those crooks.

  • +1

What's a bet they won't send ANY free samples to anyone?

Now they can SPAM and call us for free, as they have our personal information.

    SCAM.

  • +5

I woke up at 5am and tried and the website worked fine as no one was on the website and my order went through fine and I received an email later on confirming my order.

Now they put this text on their website later on

    Hi Ozbargainers!

Honestly trying to get money now and taking advantage of their free advertising by Ozbargain.
