EKO 65" 4K QLED TV at the introductory price of $749 from BIG W.

EKO TVs have a pretty good rep in other OzBargain threads. This appears to be their first QLED model and has a "normal" price of $1199.

The plain LED models are usually $699 so for an extra $50 this seems a no brainer to me.

The only downside I can see is the 12 month warranty. We bought using a credit card to get the extra 12 months warranty that most cards offer. Alternatively you could pay with discounted gift cards to save another $37 and take your chances with ACL and BIG W in the event of a problem within the second year.

I picked mine up this afternoon and the guy at the loading dock said they'd already sold five this morning, which was totally unprecedented, so the word is out.

Will update when it's set up but if its a total dog I'm confident I can get a refund from BIG W without any dramas.

I don't know if two faulty tvs in two different models that Big W will certainly refund/replace is worth negating the deal.

      • I think it's justified. People have reported it for both the 65' and 75' version of the TV.

It brings awareness to the issues these TVs have.

Really? Where? Only seen your comment of the two videos.

Why neg the 65" post though when you own the 75" which you haven't?

The frame looks way thicker than the product pictures lol

I've made a quick video demonstrating the issues faced (note this started happening the day after i received it); https://youtu.be/ItANqYy4H-w

No lag or crashing with my friend's frameless 65" QLED. Have you tried a factory reset in the settings when you can boot in?

It seems like another guy has reported a similar issue on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtpPYBNl8Fs

Different model, that one isn't Android TV.

      • damn bro, that says its a piece of shit, even of a few people experience it, basically tv lottery

  • What's a good torture test to evaluate a panel?

I tried this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ej8Jwc6TrIg and a few others and could only see nice solid blacks and virtually no blooming?

Only criticism so far would be colours are maybe a touch muted but its still at factory default.

Did I get lucky or I'm not looking hard enough?

  • Does this android TV support the Nord VPN app?

  • I was looking at the 65" TCL model. But then I realised the only manufacturer with kayo and android is Sony. Kayo/foxtel will probably work on this EKO but they will work on Sony.

    • TCL has the kayo app.

  • My parents order was cancelled and refunded due to no stock.

  • I'm guessing this is edge lit at this price point?
I seriously dont understand why the backlight type isnt listed ever, its basically the most important spec these days with LCDs.

  • Purchased and returned.
Slow and extremely buggy. Had lots of issues with using the remote / Plex / Screensaver randomly turning on whilst watching a movie.

    • you get what you pay for

It's not like this was a high end TV with a significant discount. This is and will be it's rrp, ignore the $1.2k never would of sold for that
