no nope nada stop it get some help

  • +12

Bought this 2070 super for $800 (on sale) only 3 months ago. Great card for my purpose and I was prepared to pay the premium as I got it earlier than this great deal, and have used to daily for gaming (… I mean working from home).

    • +2

      Good ol tax deduction

    • Me too, bought 2070 super for just under $800 in April.

On a positive note, hopefully 3070/3080 price settle fast so upgrading to 3000 series won't hurt the pocket as much.

    • -1

Upvoted for what's in the brackets😂

  • +3

    And the exodus begins.

  • +15

    I dunno the 3070 seems a steal at its ~$810 price tag and promises > 2080ti perf…
Plus Big Navi hopefully dropping soon-ish. I'd wait unless you're in a rush for a GPU.

    • +4

Like on the 2080Ti thread - concerns with not getting FE here in Au, being gorged by 3rd party cards, hype when released causing artificial inflation of prices etc etc.
I hope I'm wrong but it looks like it's going to be a long time until the 3070 comes down to the ~$810 tag.

    • -4

No way in the world the 3070 will be $810.

      Realistic pricing:
      3070 = ~$1000 AUD
      3080 = ~$1600 AUD
      3090 = ~$2500 AUD

      • +3

$500 USD = $1000 AUD? Even with AUS tax I doubt that will be that bad

        • +2

Yeah it will - easy. FE, according to Nvidia, is meant to be $810. That is a perfect world scenario. As we now know, Nvidia aren't selling to Australia. So that price is out the window. AIB's will be more expensive than FE anyway, so add another $100. So up to $910. Then add in Australia tax and retailer price up. That's where you get $1000. Plus the fact there will be limited stock, so retailers will charge more to rip off the desperate.

          • +1

@theantipop: Also retailer has been selling GPU more expensive than the AIB's RRP anyway. So I think 3070 will cost similar to how much 2070 super cost a few months ago (before the 3000 announcement) around $1000-$1100 AUD (if they perform as claimed and all the hype still there).

But I think the $1k price is still worth it if the card perform as good (or better) than 2080ti.

            • +4

@d3n0tz: Oh, I think it's great value at $1k, for sure. However, just want to correct people and make them realise that there is no way they will pickup a 3070 for less than $950. As you mentioned, I can see the 3070 being around the $1-$1.1k mark in shops. Then the prices of the 3080 and 3090 will increase from there.

          • +1

@theantipop: AIBs always make cards that are reasonably priced compared to the FE and the MSRP.

As things stand, there are cards that should launch for less than FE prices. Some retailers will have slightly higher prices at the start due to getting stock express shipped to get day 1/early sales, and that's it.

            Stop going around saying this.

            • +2

@jasswolf: people like fiction - pretence is now the most sought after skill aka the bigger the liar the better.

just look at our emperor's new clothes…. and how cheap these new new super cars are gonna be… every new release nvidia virtually say the same thing

      • -1

        https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/products/store/

Pre-order it from official AU site when it's available.

        • +2

There's been confirmation from Nvidia that Australia will NOT get the founders edition and the Nvidia store will not be selling to Australia.

        • Nvidia has banned all pre-orders. Also it won't be selling direct to AU.

          • @NikeGS: Last time I saw the news, it will be sold to Australia.

            • @frankmanzhu: I said direct (Nvidia website). Won't be sold to Australia there.

plz look at the nvidia australia official website for the price.
        3070 = 809 AUD
        3080 = 1139 AUD
        3090 = 2429 AUD,

even the cheapest 3070 will still better than the 2070 / 2080.

        • +1
          • +3

@d3n0tz: Asus announced (granted not in Aus specifically, but in USA and UK markets) they will be matching the price of the Founders Edition model, with their stock 'TUF' series.

            Source

        • I don’t why you got down voted. Don’t know why people don’t believe offical site but instead getting source from third party site like tomhardware.com for example.

      • +1

I get the feeling that you own a 2000 series . I feel your pain but it is a good thing the prices are coming down.
Nvidia KOed the 2000 series and now we are waiting for AMD to trow it in the bin !

      • Before covid, the lowest I've seen the 2070 Super go for is $699 (the same as this deal). The official msrp of the thing is US$500 (AU$692). It's taken the announcement of a replacement that's leaps and bounds better for the dang card to (almost) go down to its recommended retail price. The most obvious conclusion is that the 2070 Super is (still) a massive rip off. A more disturbing thought is that the 2070 Super's pricing history is indicative the general pattern of graphics card pricing we get here in Straya. Despite getting downvoted to oblivion, theantipop's prediction that the 3070 would end up costing
closer to $1000 than $800 is, in my view, completely reasonable. As much as I want him to be wrong, I'm not holding my breath on it.

    • +1

yep, these prices would have been a deal 2 weeks ago, now they are just slightly overpriced stock old stock they are trying to dump before the value completely bottoms.

  • +2

500 and it is a deal.

    • +4

Nope, not even then. A 2080 Ti is now worth $700 at most.

I wouldn't pay more than $400 now, and I'd do so knowing that every time I used ray tracing, I'd be trading in on at least half the relative performance of Ampere.

  • +13

If I get this for my kids, will it improve that crappy, blocky graphics in Minecraft?

    • +13

Yes, but only if you download some more RAM from the internet as well.

      • +6

and turn on Ray tracing …

        • +4

And connect to 8k HDR OLED display

          • @qtvinsta: OLEDs are only for cardoons, dummy!

    • +1

Yup, it'll look like this immediately without any modifications to the java client required: https://youtu.be/J2E9luFtm1Y?t=268

      /s

    • +3

      No as this lacks RGB

    • Yes since, for some reason, Minecraft has Ray Tracing?!?!?!?!

  • +3

Yeah just no. Even if you absolutely need a card now, go get a cheap $100 nothing card and wait for the 30xx cards to readjust prices.

    • +4

I can't see any need for anybody to discount the 30x cards with demand going to be off the scale, and supply short.

      • +3

The 3070 is going to absolutely crush this card for a price not much higher than this. Buying this today is pretty much an anti-bargain.

If you had just bought brand new 1440p/60hz monitors and knew you wouldn't need anything better than this card for 3-5yrs or so, then maybe buying something now is acceptable.

        • +3

The 3070 is going to absolutely crush this card for a price not much higher than this. Buying this today is pretty much an anti-bargain.

Which means you can be guaranteed there's going to be supply issues as everyone rushes to get one.

  • +2

But for $110 more you can get a 2080ti equivalent with less vram

  • +2

Probably not worth it. With the 3000 series around the corner you can expect large price drops in the 1000 and 2000 series cards - especially if the leaked benchmarks turn out to be true.

  • +1

Nvidia… you did this to yourself you greedy bastards. Come on AMD, we are waiting!

    • +1

What did NV do? Should they have kept 30 series prices high to proctect the 20 market. They're in the market to sell their latest wares. Good on them for managing to make the next generation of video card a massive step up and cheaper then previous generation card. Kind of like Moores Law back in effect.

      • They are pumping out excellent and more efficient technology, great!… but come on, these things were almost double the price not long ago. And now a $800AUD card is about to outperform it. Add the fact that PC games still haven’t got the best of optimisation and require heavily in raw power, it’s like, what are we doing. PC folk (myself included) feel like we getting the run around still after all these years. I’ll probably grab a 3080 but I know for a fact, you are really not going to be missing much picking up the new Xbox or PS5, for gaming. Consider yourself lucky if you haven’t got the PC building bug.

        • And now a $800AUD card

We will wait and see on the price… theres no need for them to price it that cheap… Would be the dumbest business decision ever.
Expectation and reality are 2 different things

        • Google Moore's law.

  • +9

    Futu well know price jackers.

    • Some of the worst kind of price jackers of all time indeed

    • Can't argue with that. You're probably getting 5% or at best 10% discount.

  • reminded me of this….
    https://youtu.be/pKneUFwVkXI

  • Wow, what a rip off! If anyone buys an RTX series 2000 card for anything less than HALF price you're getting ripped off.
I guess people don't know that the RTX 3000 series is about twice as powerful for cheaper.

  • +1

what, no this is not a deal.

  • +1

I'm not sure how these are deals

  • +1

Not a deal, everyone trying to liquidate old stock before the new cards arrive. Even if you are in the market for this particular card, wait a few weeks and they will be sub 500.

  • +2

Just wait, retailers are going to get pricing assistance through NVIDIA.

  • +2

I feel bad for people who have recently purchased 20 series cards, but feel good for those who waited despite people mocking them and saying shit like "might as well wait for 40 series, no point in waiting".

    • +2

It will always be the case though… heck, right now… may as well wait for 3090 Super…

      • +2

There's a difference between waiting a few months for a new card to drop vs waiting 1-2 years

  • Finally comes down to what I paid for at the end of last year.

  • Finally… a 2 year old card at selling at original RRP

  • -4

Is nocure selling out or out of the loop?

    • +7

Just sharing mate, don't make it personal

  • Got a 2070 last year, maybe 5070?

  • nice try. no

  • I'm getting a 2060 KO for $370 (used for 1 month) is that a good price?!

    • +1

Yes. You probably shouldn't expect to see a sub $500 RTX card or big Navi anytime until Q1-Q2 next year.

      • Great. Incase i upgrade late last year hopefully this won't lose too much value on sale.

    • +1

I'd say it's a pretty good price. No one really knows how the lower end will get affected.

But at least there's less to devalue when the next line of cameras comes out.

  • I'd pay that much only for a 2080ti in light of the new 3 series pricing:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/graphics-cards/30-serie… (in case you have been living under a rock the last week or so)

  • Hahahahahahahahahaha… Good try…

  • Put notify me and pre-order it from official AU site when it's available.

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/products/store/

$809 for 3070 (claim to be 2080 ti performance) 50% faster than 2070 super.

    • So far although the pricing is up for au NVidia have stated they have no plans at this stage for founders edition cards to come to our market. hope that changes.

  • -4

Still very overpriced consider the release date is around the corner.2060 Super is also $499 at PC Byte with free shipping
    https://www.pcbyte.com.au/store/product/galax-nvidia-geforce…

    • ????

  • This is at best a deal for suckers/average folk who couldn't care less about deals. These cards should be discounted far more than they currently are, no reason to buy at this price unless you were absolutely DYING for a card to game on.

Even then, why not just go pick up a second hand card to see you through the next few months….

  • As others have said, not a deal with much better price to performance already announced and days or weeks away. Even if you have to directly buy from overseas you'll be better off.

  • Better price-to-performance coming with 3xxx series cards very soon.

  • Everyone who bought the 2070 recently are downvoting the comments 😂

    • More like people who are trying to sell their 2070/80s now.

  • pass

  • Given the timing and upcoming release of the 30 series, this is not a good purchase. Save the extra few dollars and wait.

  • +1

Since the announcement of 30 series, my working from home productivity is 0. By the time I can get one, I won't have a job anymore.

  • 3000 series twice better than 2000 series at only Ray tracing and Deep Learning Super Sampling titles. We might have to wait to see user comparison benchmarks of 2000 vs 3000 in non-rtx and non-dlss titles.

  • Definitely not a bargain, just trying to clear stock on to the poor bastards who haven't seen the news.

  • Even if the local price of new RTX 3000 series will be much more expensive than RRP, we still have an option to buy it directly from Amazon US which will be normal price plus gst plus shipping (no shipping if you have prime sub).
