    This or the Xioami ?

    Both VA & 1440p

    • +3

Xiaomi is 3840 pixel width, Viewsonic is 2560. I'll pay a bit more for the extra resolution.

    • +2

      They're very different.
Xiaomi is Ultra wide with aspect ratio of 21 :9 (think 2x 24 in next to each other)

This is a 32in 16:9 which is your standard monitor scaled up to 32 in.

      • is it really equal to 2 x 24"? or 2 x 27"?

the height is 1440p so it is more taller than a 24 inch ie 1080p

        3440 = 2 x 1920 but with 1440 height

    • +2

Xiaomi is an Ultrawide with 21:9 Aspect Ratio while this one is just 16:9 so depends if you want a bigger screen or a wider screen

    • +1

Xiaomi is ultrawide, meaning it is 3440x1440 (21:9) vs this one being 2560*1440 (16:9). This monitor has a lower PPI (pixels per inch) meaning it can be a bit blurry / rigid. I would go with the xiaomi monitor 100% as it a higher pixel density as well as the fact it is an ultrawide. I upgraded to a (kogan) ultrawide from a 1080p IPS monitor and the extra screen size is a massive plus for everything. For productivity it was an unbelievable difference and I will never go back to a non-ultrawide for a long time. Keep in mind it will be slightly harder to run due to the extra pixels so take this into account.

      • but what if you have 3 x 24 monitors

would going 1 ultrawide be less productive?

and it is hard to put 2 extra monitors e.g 24 inch on both side of the ultrawide since most people's desk would not be long enough..

When you say harder to run on ultrawide, are you referring to just gaming or general desktop usage as well?

    • Neither: wait for the Samsung G5, which should sell at $400 during sales to start off with.

    • http://www.displaywars.com/32-inch-16x9-vs-34-inch-21x9 It really depends on your usage. If you are watching videos, youtube, PS4, Xbox etc then this 16:9 is a better option. If you are using FPS games etc then 21:9 is a better option. Both are equally good for productivity.

      • Also, I am using this monitor since last week and it has amazing colour and clarity (coming from Asus 23.6" 1080p)

      • for general purpose 16:9 is best since most content are in that ratio..

you can still play FPS games on 16:9, you just loose some peripheral view which may or may not be all that important anyway.

    Amazing screen for the price

VA panels (such as this) suffer from ghosting you wont find on IPS/TN panels, which can be a negative for gaming applications. Otherwise, grouse display.

    • i have 3 of these view sonic monitors they are 10bit (8bit+FRC) panels .. Best colours and black levels of any monitor on the market… ALL VA's suck for fast movement gaming!! However they are great for games like home world 3 coming soon or games like league of legends

      • would VA or IPS be best for single player RPG's?

        • Well i play Guldwards 2 on this thing and its fine but FPS games are a no go. stick with IPS or TN

IPS or TN are better for ALL GAMES! .. VA's are better for black levels.

IPS = good colours, hit and miss on black levels and great viewing angles but expensive.
VA = good colours, great black levels and good viewing angles but has ghosting in fast moving content and games.
TN = horrid colours, bad black levels and horrid viewing angels but super responsive NO LAG or ghosting at all compared to both IPS and VA

144hz, 120hz are good to have and all but DO nothing for the ghosting on VA panels.

      Otherwise, grouse display.

Yes, it has quite pheasant image quality.

    • I bought a Samsung JG54 monitor, same specs as this one basically. Was upgrading from a 8 year old Dell 29" TN ultrawide. I couldn't believe how bad the ghosting was in all fps games. Blows me away that they can sell a "Gaming" monitor that fking sucks for games. I'm not one to fuss but holy crap it was terrible.

Sold that then bought the Dell 27 IPS deal on here. So so much better.

    • My phone is OLED and it suffers from ghosting in low brightness. Is that the case with VA panels or it's the same no matter what is the brightness?

  • +2

If its not IPS, will definitely wont pull the trigger….now back in lurking for IPS 27-32inch around $550aud

  • refurbished ones here..Only $350
If you don't mind a few dead pixels..
