I was refreshing their /ps5 page (register interest) but it didn't update with the option to preorder. Thanks for posting this!

    • Sony's website still had some consoles, last time I checked. Delivery time was also November.

      • I did a sony order a few hrs ago, how do we know if it's launch shipment or not?

        • +1

I remember seeing first shipment on the page when I ordered.., now it says they have closed.

  • Possibility these will be available in-store? I've been holding out for Target as I have $250 fly-buys points and a 5% discount card…

Edit: Actually searching through the website, I think i can add both of these and click + collect..SOLD!

  • +37

    RRP isn't a deal…..

    • +12

it will be when these consoles are hard to come by

      • +27

It still doesn't constitute a bargain. It just makes it a regular priced thing with scarce availability….

        • true, but if demand outstrips supply then people will start charging insane prices for their early consoles

          • @Shaunzeh: If? At the moment you can still pick these up via Sony website.

            • @eggaz: fair but just looking at it from an unaware parents perspective trying to buy it for little Billy for Christmas…. people will do more sinister things to get the money out of your pocket and into theirs.

            • +1

@eggaz: also people seem to be negging for stupid reasons. i'm upvoting your comment out of principle

        • Your other option is to pay above retail on ebay if you like?

      • +5

People really need to settle down and not act like they absolutely need to buy these things on Day 1. It's hard to get upset at someone who manages to buy 20 to sell at a profit when people act like this.

        • +2

I agree up to a point.

I'm buying one as a Christmas present, I don't need it on launch day, but if I hadn't ordered it for then I doubt I'd be able to pick one up in December.

        • I agree, it's like the iPhone craze all over again.

        • +1

Most big companies nowdays make the most money of people who have to have the latest thing as soon as possible after launch, like those people who used to queue outside Apple stores on new iphone release dates, quite hilarious. IMO paying full price for anything is against the Ozbargain spirit.

Why do the customers have to carry all the burden when there is a pandemic or something?

      • +5

Haha PS5's are not going to be hard to come by. Don't buy into the marketing hype. This is not a deal, this is literally the RRP and even if stock is exhausted day 1, it won't take them long to come back.

        • +1

I dont understand this either. Why is it my problem if a giant company like Sony can't manufacture it enough.

          • @baldur: They did, and they all sold out. There were more PS5's for pre order than PS4's were sold on release month. Covid times spending on games is huge, so they made enough, you might have just missed out. The price to pay for missing out is paying RRP.

            • @onlinepred: We don't know how much more though. PS4 had about 1 million. You would think they would up that to 5 during these unprecedented and challenging times? Amirite?

        • +2

          Reddit PS5 discussion.

          The hype is real.

    • +5

Yeah eb games sold out all their stock allocation until early 2021 , JB Hifi have as well.

      • +1

        Amazon now as well

        • +1

And Big W are out now by the looks!

      • Sony's website had stock last time I checked

    • +1

It'll be a bargain compared to people selling them for $1000 a pop due Christmas.

      • +6

Yeah, but scalpers jacking up the price doesn't make the current price cheaper…. RRP is RRP.

      • +1

A couple digital versions already on eBay with bids over $1k…

    • +1

      This belongs in the forums

  • +1

    "Pre-order - estimated delivery on 12th to 16th November."
This is more expensive than amazon though.

  • +2

Thanks for the heads up OP. Was sad when EB and JB sold out and managed to get one through Target click and collect. Just hope it'll actually arrive on launch day.

  • Will big w refund it if I wish to cancel it later (50$)

    • -1

I’m pretty sure the point of a deposit is a partial payment to hold the product for you. If you back out of the deal later you forfeit the deposit so that the store doesn’t hold the product for you for free

      • +9

        That’s wrong

        • +2

So the deposit is refunded if you cancel the preorder? What’s the point of a deposit then?

          • -6

@FireRunner: I am asking because I have ordered from 50$ deposit from jbhifi and big w both. Where as I need only 1.

            • @malcolm22: Probably best to look through their terms and conditions or ask a rep to get a definitive answer

            • +3

@malcolm22: You can cancel and get your deposit back

              • -1

@Owgasm: Great. Know about ebgames preorder refund as well ??

            • +2

@malcolm22: you deserve everything you get for being greedy

          • +7

@FireRunner: A deposit is a deterrent to stop people from pre-ordering at multiple places and deciding much later on whether they want the console.

Also putting money down on something generally makes you more likely to go through with buying it even if a refund is available.

    • +3

yes, you will get $50 back. even you buy the console and return within 90 days, you will get full refund provided the box is not opened

      • Thanks. I am worried for eb one more. Because I realized I ordered it in December stock sadly. Will be refund 200 ?
Bigw 50 is safe. I don't trust stupid even games , they are crooks.

        • I made the same mistake. Got into the Dec shipment. I got another one from Target for launch day pickup. Will cancel the EB games one tomorrow. Ridiculous keeping 200 locked when you don’t know when you’ll get your console. I just hope Target stick to the promised date 12 Nov

          • -1

@bindok: Any idea if it's allright to cancel eb one later in mid November - so we can be sure that we got one. Will eb refund at that time??

            • @malcolm22: I don’t see any reason why not. You can always return an unopened item with most retailers within 14 days worst case. You can still call them and confirm for your peace of mind.

            • @malcolm22: I called EB today to cancel my pre-order with them. However, they want me to come into store for a cancellation. Weird I don't understand why I need to go into store to cancel a pre-order I paid online using a CC.

  • +6

Lucky i am a Nintendo fan.

    • +5

Considering the shortages and price gauging during lockdown, I don’t think we are so lucky

    • +2

Way to go off topic fanboy-kid…. >_>

    • -1

How's the drifting going? I don't mean in the racing sense

    • +1

No joke, the games are $125 each.

  • +31

To summarize : whoever did not preorder a PS5 today will not be getting one this year.

    • -4

if this is true, sony royally stuffed up. having limits on consoles and making other consumers wait several months is disappointing

      • +9

Yes cause covid, Sony's fault lol /s
You say it like they don't want to sell more units or something..

    • +2

      (profanity)

    • +12

This is like that movie Jingle All the Way with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Turbo Man is out of stock everywhere and it’s Christmas!

  • Pre-ordered console on Amazon - worth pre-ordering a second PS5 controller at Big W? Or should I wait

    • +2

Wait on Amazon to post controllers I reckon. Though ps4 launch bigw did 50% off the controllers

  • +1

Does anyone have experience with Target click and collect for pre orders? I have an order at Amazon but also ordered through Target because click and collect seems to be safer in terms of getting it on release day and not relying on delivery.

    • +1

Did PS4 launch at target, awhile a go but was perfeft

      • Great thanks. Hope my order comes through

  • my order from target got cancelled

    • Arent most of their stores shutting down…?

      • said insufficient quantity

      • Arent they just turning into Kmart..?

    • did you do delivery or c&c?

  • +7

This is not a bargain, it is RRP. Amazon actually have a bargain

    • +2

      sold out now though.

    • +3

Small print for others: it is a bargain IF you have Prime and IF your Zip Pay is approved..

  • OP update post, target pre orders already exhausted

    • Did you select click and collect? Cause it seems to still be processing delivery

      • +1

yes. they confirmed my order, then immediately emailed to say that its cancelled due to insufficient quantity. Not sure if its store related though

  • +13

I bloody just paid Target preorder with Giftcards and now its been rejected. What the hell am i going to do with $750 worth of target gift cards!

    • Omg I'm shtn myself too cos I just did it too but 10 min ago

      • ok got confirmation- was pick up at Broadway Sydney

    • Wait until they’re back in stock?

      • +1

with all the hype and low demand, I dont know when thats going to happen. And i'm in Vic so no idea if Stores target stores will be opened :(

        • +1

True. All you can do is keep checking and hope they get a second allocated batch before Xmas.

        • +3

          Lucky there's low demand

    • +2

      It's not sold out forever

    • +1

That's the risk of preordering with gift cards.

      • +3

well you think PRE orders are firm sales lol

    • Sorry to hear man. Maybe try an xbox ?

      • -1

No. Not when it looks like that!

    • Target? Uh uh. Tarjay

  • Is it actually worth getting it on the day of the release? What games are being released exclusively for PS5 first?

    • Pretty much only Demon's Souls, which definitely isn't for everyone despite how fantastic it is

    • +2

old ps4 and ps3 games available via ps plus collection

    • +1

It is not worth getting it for exclusives on the launch, but it is worth getting it for new games that will run better on it (Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and so on) unless you have a different machine to play these.

      • Cyberpunk won't get a next gen patch in the near future unfortunately…

        • Damn, that was my only reason to preorder PS5. Now, I might just get it the next year. What's point of getting it early then if no games are using the new hardware?

        • wrong! you will get upgrade! Will have better graphic but more importantly ridiculous faster loading! Which is very important/blessing for open world games.

  • -1

Disc version will come down to $540 for me with my staff discount… not bad
