What's the throughput like with all your data tunnelled over to the CCP? \s, I think…

    • -3

Don't use any Chinese product as they are spying you including your smart pans.

      • You could just spend the money where it counts and go with a solid solution like unifi.

        • What will be key difference?

          • @udarawic: Performance is awesome no doubt about it. The software is the best part, I guess it just depends how much you care about your network but it’ll be an investment that’ll last a long time.

    • +2

That's what the 5th core is used for..

    • +2

if your views of the ccp are influenced by western media to such an extent I would recommend getting the Xiaomi Redmi AC2100 with the MT7621 chipset which allows you to flash openwrt/pandavan opensource firmwares.

Good product but too expensive, RRP A$60 in China

    • +10

      International logistics costs are high.

      • +8

        International logistics costs are high.

Yeah I don't understand why people compare with RRP from China when they live in Australia. They think shipping and handling is free?

        • A$93.40, does it include GST?

        • +3

if Sellers on Aliexpress can make them much cheaper ship to Austrlia then the logistics are not expensive. That the Labor costs and other costs are much higher in Australia are the overheads for local stocks not the logistics costs.

As I mentioned below, you can get one for $70 posted and include GST on Aliexpress which is an indication that international logistics aren't that expensive.

          • +2

@xmchen: But 1 week delivery vs 1-2 months?

            Also GST?

            • +2

@superforever: I did say it's a good price for local stock. What I said above is that the International Logistic Costs are high is not true statement. $70 posted from China include GST( $64 pre GST)

          • +4

@xmchen: It’s because China Trade claims they are a developing country and get their postage subsidised by other countries like Australia. That is why it’s cheaper for a parcel posting from China to Australia than posting a parcel from your place to the next street in Australia.

            • @Nomoneynotalk:

That is why it’s cheaper for a parcel posting from China to Australia than posting a parcel from your place to the next street in Australia.

Ah that is why even a few dollars item have free postage.

            • +2

@Nomoneynotalk: I agree with you totally but the seller claims the higher prices was due to International Logistics Costs…and I agree it's a good price for local stock.

Does International Logistics Cost means cost from China to Australia in this case?

            • +1

Well significantly higher wages of the delivery man factors into it also. AusPo is only doing letter delivery every second day now, but stamp prices keep going up. Prices go up, services go down. And CEO salary goes up astronomically. That guy sure earns his keep.

              • +1

@lostn: Is it correct to say that once the item arrives in Australia the it would be the same man factors of Australia Post? If that is correct then the cost of postage would be China to Oz + AusPost to you.

                • -2

Yes, but you're comparing local post to international post. Delivery from China is cheap or free.. because it's damn slow and backlogged. You get what you paid for. When you send something from here to abroad, it gets there much faster and costs more. That's because in China/HK, the package sits in a facility to be sorted, and because of volume of parcels it takes weeks to get processed unless you pay for more expensive shipping, which ends up costing about the same as we charge. Here we're better equipped to handle the load, but of course that costs more.

          • @xmchen: Firstly, you wait for 2 months for the item to arrive. If you are unlucky, often the case from China, it may be faulty. My experiences showed I was not very lucky. Four of six earphones were faulty, besides items were not as described. They accept return, but consider the troubles.

            • @Gali: I am not sure what's your point…I have been saying it's a good price for local stocks if you read my comments above. and I do recognise that the waiting period is longer.

All I am aguring was that the Seller's claim of justification of the higher price was "International Logistics Cost" which clearly a false statement as
"International Logistic Costs" aren't that expensive.

You could agrue that the higher price can be justified by higher Labo costs, higher storage costs, higher warranty costs and etc but using "International logistics costs are high." is clearly not true.

Further, I have ordered at least 200 items from Aliexpress over last 5 years and I have only 1 item DOA..in the case that the seller refunded me straight away. The price for the items are from $0.05 to $300 phones and don't have much issues to this point. If you have bad experience, it's could be a bad luck or the seller are dodgy.

        • plus australias sky high tax

      • +1

Not true, see my comment below. But good price for an Aus Stock when compared to other Aus sellers.

How much better is the AX3600?

  • +1

    chinese only?

  • +1

    How are the vpn settings?
    Multiple assignments like asus?

    • VPN is non-existent for me. The AX1800 only supports PPTP and L2TP. One reason I bought it was for VPN and OpenWRT but they don't support this router…yet.

  • +1

Possible to set up with ax3600?

much cheaper from Aliexpres and you get get one for $70 posted incl GST..No Deal

If you are ready to wait 2-3 months with covid flight limits…

      • Last major AliE sale was in the last week of August, and everything I ordered from around then (and one item a month prior) are all in AU customs as of 5-10 days ago, going through clearance.

Another AliE sale this week, so it's a case of a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point: if the demand is there, the shipping is normal. November sales traffic should be great, because air freight is normal, just nothing much is going to hitch a ride on international flights.

Good luck with your naysaying though, hey

        • +1

Pehpahs you were paying for express/priority shipping or it was AU stock. There is no way the cheapest standard one will be delivered in less than a month these days. None of my about 10 orders in the last couple of months were delivered in less than 2 months. They go pretty quick to status "Departured country of origin" and stuck there for 2 months. Basically, these parcels left Chinese clearance and simply are waiting to be loaded to a plane next to hundreds of thousands of other parcels/mails.

A huge portion of international shipping is handled by regular passenger flights which simply don't exist to/from Australia since covid19. Those 10 flights a day is nothing comparing to what it was before.

          • @niiko: I took the free shipping, via AliE's own logistics wherever possible. Your info is outdated.

I'm familiar with how international freight typically works but times have changed, and unsurprisingly, so too has the freight business.

My parcels are tracked as being in AU Customs, having gone from Singapore to Sydney, so there is a dedicated route and distribution point for SE Asia to Australia, as there needs to be for the flow of many goods.

            • @jasswolf: Yeah, outdated, a few orders from early-middle August are still in "Departed country of origin" status. Considering previous experience, it will take another month to be delivered.

              • @niiko: I ordered between the 21st and the 26th of August, and I used AliE free shipping wherever I could. They are not showing the status you're describing.

There are fully-functioning freight routes, you just have to be smart about timing and paying attention to your shipping choice.

              • @niiko: Here a example. This was actually a bit quicker because it landed in melb first. If its in Sydney it takes a few extra weeks but as you can see. Dam quick to get to Australia. All my ordered are like this now if there over $50. Under $10 and its a bit slower

                https://ibb.co/TTVpFdM

              • @niiko: I have an item ordered two weeks ago arrived yesterday but the one I order on 8th May are still somewhere out there..

Orders from begining August are arriving at much faster paces.

      • +2

Not anymore. My stuff arrived pretty quickly using free or cheapest shipping options. The hold up is aus customs and auspost. Things arrived within a week but stuck in Syd for 2….. My recent ordered are arriving alot faster then some from June/July

        • Bingo, this is exactly what I've seen as well, and even my earlier, 90+ day orders appeared to run into most of their issues once they hit Australian shores.

        • Mine are a mixed bag. Some are marked departed country of origin but apparently haven't really finished departing. Some land in Aus and take a long time to clear customs for no good reason. Some (most common situation I'm seeing right now) apparently clear Aus customs in reasonable time and then apparently just sit neglected in some Sydney warehouse for god knows how long. Clearly Aus is the biggest problem, but I won't rule out the possibility of the tracking info just being bullshit, I doubt it but then it wouldn't be the 1st big blatant systematic lie from Aliexpress.

  • +2

Thats cheap for a new xbox

  • +2

It's over $20 cheaper on AliExpress.

I know people might say AliExpress takes ages for posting, but about 50% of my orders to Banggood have been had delayed delivery times whilst the item itself was listed as in stock.

I recently cancelled half of my last order for that same reason.

Infact, I've got an order from July 25th sitting here, and the "Estimated to ship before time" keeps going up, it's been estimated to ship before 1-2 weeks for two months now.

  • anyone tried this website? based in sydney and claims that shipping will be 8-12 days

  • For anyone comparing buying them from China, Firstly, you wait for 2 months for the item to arrive. If you are unlucky, often the case when purchasing from China, it may be faulty. My experiences showed I was often unlucky when buying from China. Four of six earphones were faulty, besides items were not as described. They accept return, but consider the troubles and loss of money and time.

3-6 weeks, not 2-3 months. Comments like yours are actually artificially slowing this, perhaps even costing Customs staff their jobs.

What earphones, out of curiosity? I had 2 faulty amongst a dozen, one vendor shafted me but it's a fixable problem with glue and a little material, the other gave me a full refund due to it being bought from the AU store.

      • They were the AirPod like TWS earphones costing about $50 each. They gave me full refund, I sent back 4 postage about $50. The whole process took about 3 months.
I am not sure whether my comment or your comment is artificial. It’s your call, I will be responding to this further. Keep buying from aliexpress etc, no one will stop you.

        • I think both are true in terms of the customer service experience, I just wanted to avoid a dodgy product if at all possible. AliE is definitely not where you want to be if the product isn't salvageable and they don't take your word for it.

Shipping wise, it's close to normal again.

All the cloud managed device must do that, no matter what brand. Some peoples without knowledge just scare themselves.

  • Was going to get one until I found out the instruction for Xiaomi routers is in Chinese. Someone correct me if I'm wrong with the link to say otherwise.

    • Correct, no Support for English in the interface. Apparently they've promised an English release next year but given no specific timeframe.

"The Xiaomi mobile app is available in English but the router is in Chinese."

    • yep…all Chinese but not hard to undersand…once you go through initial setup, you can use the web interface with Google translate

    • The beauty of this product is that they are Mesh ready. I ordered two back in Jul and arrived mid August and works well as a mesh network. I have ordered another two recently to make a 4 routher mesh network. I remember reading it somewhere the max nodes supported by Xiaomi are 4 so did not order more.

My kids are extremely happy since I got the mesh network as they used to complaining the internet drops out with the modem provided by TPG.

      • @xmchen I've just been reading up on mesh networking and have a couple of questions….1) to create a mesh do you need to purchase extra wireless routers or is there a node or satellite accessory that you can buy instead? 2) do the extras router/nodes simply require a power point or do they need a lan cable also?
I'm seriously considering purchasing this router and would just like some clarification. Thanks.

  • What exactly is a 5 core enterprise chip?

I would not recommend the product nor the seller : banggood. I bought Xiaomi Router ax3600 over a month back from banggood. The router hangs 3-4 times a week. I approached banggood to explore my options under warranty. Apparently they need a video of the issue. And if no video can be provided they can not help. See below:

    Thank you for your e-mail.

Sorry, there is no video to prove the quality problem, we can't provide you with a solution, thank you for your understanding

If you have any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

    • +1

Why would you expect to have warranty? Its almost always non existent when it comes to a grey import. It's the risk you ran, to save some coin. Importing 101

No thanks! Don’t need the Chinese Communist Party to know what website I am looking at!
