Just in time for xmas… good price.

    • Yeah!

  • Do these do the marketplace games?
With only 4gb, im guessing no.

    • They do but you're limited by your storage space. Most you can store is a couple of demos really.

very good price for an xbox, was gonna post this. :D

    • better post is one right above this one…$188 at Harvey for the 4gb slim xbox 360

  • Arent there games on Xbox now where you have to download content onto the drive first if you want faster loading or better graphics, then will 4gb be enough space?

    • -1

you can just buy a 500gb 2.5" data hdd for about $50 on ebay and chuck it into the console WITHOUT voiding your warranty, as you don't have to open up the console to do so

      • -1

there is also now a way to load all your games from external HDD lol, say bye bye to optical media

      • you can't get a 500gb unless you RGH (voiding warranty)

you can get specific models of 120, 250 (ie existing capacities only and I think WD only)

  • To those worried about the HDD, there was a deal listed a few days ago:

You can also buy from eBay around $50-$80 (unofficial).

  • whats better a xbox 360 @ $200 or a PS3 @ $250

Assuming games are not an issue - with access to both @ no charge

    • +2

A PS3 would be better for playing blurays & DVDs whereas 360s only play DVDs

      • thats what is was thinking. considering the rate of positive votes i was confused as PS3's have gone for $200 recently

        • +1

i got both…. i still reckon graphics are better on the 360 (when comparing exact same games, there IS a difference).

the playstation cut sequences between actual gameplay look good, but actual gameplay the xbox definitely has the edge.

yeah there's going to fanboi's for each one, but specs dont lie and neither does direct comparisons in person.
also microsoft sucks, but you gotta admit their online 'Live' kills the PS3 equiv. there's no comparison.

ps3 for all in one entertainment 'jack of all trades' with bluray, but 360 for better online features, and graphics…. and buy a separate bluray for $100.

        • I am not sure the argument 'Specs dont lie' is valid here. The PS3 clearly has better specs than the Xbox360…. however if you look at the games here - http://au.gamespot.com/features/xbox-360-versus-playstation-…

it is pretty obvious that generally the Xbox versions do look better due to better lighting. This is likely a result of an easier platform to work with rather than the specifications.

PS3 Exclusives like Uncharted 3 probably could not run on XBox….. but that said most games are multi platform these days and as you said the 360 versions look better.

    • I'd say a PS3 was better but personally, I would probably buy the xbox because most of my friends have an xbox and TBH I'd rather play with friends on XBL than play by myself or with random 13 year old kids spamming the mic on PSN.

    • there is speculation of xbox 360 being obsolete by next Christmas, that said I still wouldn't hesitate at this low price

  • You guys think I should buy now or wait for another Xbox 360 deal?

    • A real OzBargainer wouldn't ask that question :)

  • Where do u get PS3 for 250??

    • You don't.

  • My first gen xBox360 just RRoD tonight (for the third time). I'm not paying for a repair when I can get a replacement for $200! + It will have HDMI. :)

    Thanks PLA74 for the info.

  • $188 at Harvey Norman until 12th Nov or until sold out.

Hmm… that link is named badly because it does not link to a Kinect model.

    • whats the bet they dont have enough stock to fill demand tomorrow.

      • Yeah, I don't know when it started. :(

        • main point is:

Offer ends 12 November 2011, unless sold out earlier.

      • I got one at Bella Vista this morning. They didn't know about the special in store but followed the website price.

    • Thanks!!!

I went to my local Harvey Norman (Cleveland, QLD) and looked at the pile of them…

I think someone tried to hide it to buy later (there was only 1). Needless to say, I found it and bought it.

  • Are the new slim models more powerful than the old white ones?

    • yeah, which is why new games don't support the old one

      • If you don't know the answer then just say so.

What you're talking about is compatibility. I'm talking about performance.
e.g. when I was a pc gamer and upgraded to a more powerful pc, the frame rate with the same game went from 25fps to 65fps. Gameplay was much smoother and free flowing, making even multiplayer better.

you can't install any old 2.5" hdd into a 360…

  • http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55862 I picked this up and thought it was a better deal with the free rugby world cup game to boot, Still love the game by the way and if you don't like rugby fortunately the trade value for that would still be a few good dollars…
