Google just announced the Chromecast with Google TV for $99, but a little less known is a deal that allows you to tack on 6 months of Netflix ($95.94 worth of credit) for a grand total of $139.99, bringing the effective price of the Chromecast to $44.05.

Seems to be a long-running deal (through to December 31, 2021).

Tips:

  • If you're a Google One subscriber, you'll get 3% back in store credit if you're on a 200 GB plan, or 10% back in store credit if you're on a 2 TB or higher plan.
  • You can purchase three of these bundles per Google account.
  • The deal is available to both new and existing Netflix subscribers.
  • The 6 months of Netflix offer is based on a Standard plan ($15.99/month). Netflix works off a dollar-based credit model, so if you're on a Basic plan ($10.99/month), you'll actually get 8.73 months worth of credit, but if you're on a Premium plan ($19.99/month), you'll get 4.80 months worth of credit.
  • If you've redeemed the Netflix offer, but end up returning the Chromecast, Google will refund you $99; meaning you'll still have scored $95.94 worth of Netflix credit for $40.99.

Note: Previously out of stock, and now back in stock! If it goes out of stock again, keep refreshing the page as Google has progressively added stock on previous occasions.

    The US google store is also sold out of their Netflix and chromecast allocation. I’m a loser and called their support team, but it appears they know little about when / if this bundle willl be back in stock.

    Same thing here. showing sold out, refreshed a few times and no luck… went about browsing in some other tabs and before finishing up thought id try my luck and refresh the page.
    Refreshed and white snow was back in stock, quickly added to cart and checked out. Orders confirmed ships October 23-24 from what I saw but didn't pay too much attention as wanted to check out before it was too late.
    This was at about 2.15pm Melbourne time
    UPDATE: Checked my confirmation and shows delivery by October 29-30

          Stupid thing is it states purchases from 1st Oct 2020 until 31st Dec 2021! So they clearly plan on running this deal for a long time and it is still top of the page when you browse to the chrome cast and telling you to get the offer and also on the main offers page.

        We only get Fire stick Lite in Australia, so this is better:
        4K
        Has Google Play store, which IMO has more Apps than Amazon
        May use more power as there's precaution not all TV can power it via USB port
        Bundled with 6 months standard Netflix subs in the form of a credit ($96)

            Chromecast TV only = $99
            Chromecast TV bundle = $139 with $96 Netflix credit. It's a credit so you can choose which plan you want.

        I don't believe so. This was a problem I've had in the past. Somebody gave me Netflix vouchers and I wasn't able to apply them to my account. To do it I had to:

        • Cancel my iTunes payments.
        • Let my account lapse.
        • Add the credit to Netflix.
        • Use it up….
        • Let the credits lapse.
        • Turn iTunes payments back on.

        This was a long time ago, but I don't think anything would have changed. I'm pretty sure now if you cancel iTunes payments then you can't re-enable it.

        I'm not entirely sure re. using a different account on the same chromecast or using the same account on a different chromecast. Lol.

        If it's like previous situations where they gave out 6 months netflix credit (like Telstra TV a few years ago), it is just a code. You can use the code on any Netflix account and stack the codes on the same account.

        My understanding is that you would have to let your Turkey sub lapse, and then resub as an Aussie account. But it would be worth working out if you're betting off doing that, or selling the credit at a discount.

      There is an unfortunate catch with this deal - if you have a 4k TV and plan to watch some 4k Netflix content…

      The new Chromecast is 4k, and there is (some, more and more) 4k content actually out there now. But from when I checked, the "Netflix Standard" subscription that this deal comes does NOT include 4k - it's only HD.

      Of course, this will only affect Netflix content, but still, it's a slight catch…

        To elaborate on hazmat, it will put ~$96 on your account. Once on your account, you will be able to apply it to the 4k Netflix plan.
