        • Try another jb. It’s a legit offer, just seems some staff aren’t aware or can’t be bothered.

        • Ask for the manager, that's how I got it over the phone.

    • Yes

    • Just got declined for a new number at JB Malaga…by the the manager

      • Ported to voda in the morning from belong… JB malaga declined port citing the 30 day rule.
Tried JB Joondalup home and ported no problems. Service went active in 5 mins but Telstra system was still processing the provision. Went home and got provision complete email from Telstra. Will be collecting the Gift card tomorrow.

      • JB Adelaide showed me the memo and it says port ins only

  • Confirmed working at JB Claremont, Perth. $59 for 80gb $500 GC. $89 for 150GB $600 GC or Samsung S20 ($999 retail).

    • Any deal for the S20+? Or just need to get it upfront? Thanks

      • No apparently if you sign up to the $89 plan on a 12mo contract you can get an S20 instead of the voucher. I didn’t look into it as I don’t need a new phone

        • No worries, thanks.

        • I called one of the local stores. I asked about this, he said it's only comes with a gift voucher, can't get a phone instead of a gift voucher unless just buying outright with the voucher :(

  • What information do you need to sign up?

    • 100pt id

    • Drivers license and last 6 digits of credit card is sufficient. No idea why someone said they needed to give their passport.

But also the rest of their credit check is surprisingly invasive… phone number of employer, previous address from years ago. Bit much for a cheap phone plan lol

  • Just letting you guys know that I’m at JB Hornsby now and the deal is legit. Blown away how cheap it is. Just left Telstra after 15 years for Kogan about 6 weeks ago. Guess who’s back(soon) lol.

Update: Telstra system is down so it’s all been done manually. But the deal is accurate. Nice one OP

    • So r u porting back from kogan to telstra or is it a brand new number you are signing up to

      • Just porting back from Kogan with the same number.

  • Plan is available but when I went in they were having issues Telstra-end so they told me to come back in a couple hours and see if those issues are fixed up by then.

    • Yep had the same but they filled out a paper contract to ensure I get the offer no matter what. And will activate it for me later today or tomorrow when the systems are working. Maybe worth going and asking them to do that to ensure you get the deal?

      • +1

When I go back I will definitely ask for a paper contract, thanks man

      • Just went back and they told me because of the systems my service will be stuck in limbo between Telstra and Optus for an undetermined amount of time. I ended up not going through with it because of that reason.

I did mention getting a paper contract but they said that's fine but the $10 credit must be applied today for it to go through. What a bummer.

  • Got confirmed they have no time for this deal over the phone but can leave a text message to get this done in the next few days. Seems JB is indeed prompting this deal.

Update: No message has come to my phone yet.

    • They had time for me this morning, in Victoria.

      • I came to their store this morning in Brisbane CBD had got refused by the staff so I rang the other store to confirm this deal is valid.

  • +3

Signed up on Tuesday for the consolation $400 gift card, after attempting to have the previous $500 honoured, and was told even the $400 offer was being rescinded. Now for them to bring the offer back days later, doesn’t feel good.

    • +1

That’s worth a call through, I think you may be able to get the extra $100 considering. Worth a shot.

    • +1

try calling and cancelling the previous plan. There should be a cooling off period of 10 days?

    • +1

Same here I signed up on Tuesday as well as they said the 400$ deal will be expiring on 30 sept and now they brought this back for one day.

I already called the store I signed up with and there’s nothing they can do :( anyone has any ideas if it’s possible to get 500$ instead of 400$?

  • Interesting that after this weeks earlier debacle with huge phone queues that there doing it again. Must be desperate to meet a quota

  • Signed up via phone 13 52 44, wait was one hour almost to the dot. Confirmed today only offer.

  • It's really weird how the Philippines is not included in the telstra international add on pack but on boost they have the Philippines included without any add on.

  • Rang on Monday morning, left message. Didn't received a callback yet as of 11am today (02/10/20).

Did not want to chance them not ringing back so I called 13 52 44. Waited roughly 1 hr, application was processed and approved within 15mins.

If port in, have your account number from other provider ready.

Also needed to provide current employment details, last place of employment, current and previous address, drivers license number, last 6 digits of credit card.

  • Thanks OP for posting this deal.
Confirmed and filled out paper (systems were down at the time) and agent said they will sort it out when systems are back up and running and gave sim to hold on to.
Also confirmed plan includes 5g access and 80gb total data and a cool $500 gc. Now I need to figure out what to do with the gc.

  • called up got routed to local JB - dude gave zero forks but took my details and left message for call back and promised deal will still be honored no problem.
works for me. tomorrow is better for me anyway.

  • called 135244 and was able to get deal over the phone.

    • How long was the wait

      • not much. 14 min wait and connected

  • +1

This seems too good to be true, am I missing something? Basically a $208 plan if you're happy with the voucher which I'm sure a lot of people are with new consoles coming out soon. I know mine would be going towards a PS5.

    • Am I missing something, if you're using the voucher on a PS5 then it's just a $708 plan?

      • +1

Well yes but if you look at it that way, if the plan is $708.00 then the PS5 is -$500.

      • Yes it is only a "deal" as such if you have something from JB you are going to buy anyway… I have held off because while I do want a PS5, I am unsure on availability (vs other stores) and prices/bundles/deals (from other stores)… so if I get this deal I lock myself in to getting a PS5 from JB… Or just hold onto the voucher until we need a new TV or laptop as a backup I suppose.

  • Great! it is back again. Can I port a Belong or Boost number, or do I have to port out to Voda/ Optus? In which case, do I miss out because of the one month waiting period? Thanks!

  • Called the 13 52 44 number and tried to port over my Vodafone SIM and wouldn't let me because of the 30 day waiting period and tried a new service but apparently the deal doesn't include new services…

    • What happens if you buy a new voda/optus sim and port out using this deal?

      • Should work, I just happened to port from Telstra before. Probs should have mentioned that.

    • It does include new services, at least if you left a message for them on Monday. I had my guy on the phone ask his manager.

  • Can’t believe it but in a week I amassed $1800 in GC. Almost a free iPhone 12

    • How did you do that?

      • Must've signed up multiple numbers. Unless his family members will be using them I'm not sure how its sustainable though

    • One for myself was already on their medium plan. One I’ve cancelled already that’s the 99/month and another one for a family member

      • cancelled $99 plan? so you have to pay extra to Telstra then. how much?

        • Yes they initially got me to pay the whole ETC. I bargained it down to $100 given I have a few services with them

  • +2

I got this with two services in Brisbane, I was also offered the $99 plan, 150gb of data and $10 off a month with a $1000 credit towards a Samsung S20 FE with the preorder headphones.

    • +1

Was the $1000 credit for the 2 services or for each? Seems like a decent deal if its the later.

      • Per service. its a standard offer today apparently.

    • which store did you get the $1000 credit in Brisbane please?

    • what store was this mate?

    • +1

I was offered this same deal at the Springfield store after I mentioned I was going to use the $500 gift card for the FE preorder. $0 upfront for the 4g version and $149 upfront for the 5g. Works out being about $150 cheaper over the year for the phone and plan. I have to go back and confirm the plan when their systems are back up, but if the deal is available to the public I'll be sure to post it.

    • Was the Chermside store. I was told about it because I mentioned I was considering that phone but wasnt sure.
      Sorry for the late reply.

    • Thanks for the tip-off - grabbed one yest before closing! Same deal in Sydney. $0 upfront for the S20 FE 4G and $149 upfront for the 5G. Phones should come unbranded.

  • Done in store but telstra having issues at their end so had to do paperwork. Got the sim but porting not working yet and will have to come back to collect the gift card.

  • What do people think are the chances there will be a similar 24 month plan on the Pixel 5 later this year with a low upfront cost for the phone?

  • I'm in Vic and entered post code 3056. Already been on hold for 40 mins. I hope someone picks up finally but no way of knowing who's in front of me in the call!

  • Signed up and was able to use the gift card on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 plus received the bonus Galaxy Buds Live. This was at JB Brookvale.

Very happy here. Sexiest phone 2020.

  • So is it true i can grab a new number then call Telstra (which im currently with out of contract) and they will just merge this new plan to my existing number and remove the new number?

  • I just called up and got put through the call centre and they're saying for new customers signing up (i.e. not a port-in), it's $69+300 gift card :(

    • It does include new services, at least if you left a message for them on Monday. I had my guy on the phone ask his manager.

  • Called up, Theres definitely some sort of hour long hold wait. Because once after an hour it connected in about 30 seconds.
Worked well though, and got the $500 + $10 credit and 80 GB.
She mentioned the number has to not have been with Telstra/Boost in the last 30 days for those thinking of porting in and out quickly FYI. Although might still be worth a chance to try because unless you say you were with it, not sure how they would know…

    • They can check in their system.

      • Yeah fair. Lucky (or unlucky because of coverage) I have been with vodafone for a while.

  • does this plan have 5g?

    • Yes but need 5g Device too.

  • went to JB Homebush DFO, too many people waiting and seems like each person takes over 30mins due to system being extra slow today.

anyone in NSW able to sign up over the phone today?

  • I was able to sign up to this deal in the Adelaide CBD store. All the in store advertising said a $300 gift card and no port in credit, but the staff all knew about the deal.

Same issue as everyone else, Telstra system wasn't accepting SIM serial numbers, so did the manual paperwork and have to go back for my $500 gift card. Confirmed it was $10 credit for 12 months and 80gb data.

    • Hey so I'm confused. I just did a port in and was told I will get the credit gift card and additional data.

I just wanna make sure I didn't get screwed over

  • Any existing Telstra members managed to sign up again?

    • I got this on the previous deal..

I am an existing Telstra prepaid customer.
Once signed up and new SIM is received, you go on Telstra mobile chat, and ask them to change the new post-paid number, to the existing pre-paid number.
Be clear on this request. The Telstra rep may not understand. Be persistent and clear to them.
Or close the chat, wait, and try asking again to another Telstra rep.
You also need to activate the new sim prior, or while you are chatting. The activation took less than 5 mins.
The Telstra rep then does the changeover on their end.
I successfully moved my existing pre-paid number over to the new post-paid plan.

This also means the existing pre-paid service is deactivated and you lose any data you still had left.

      • I'm post pay so not sure if that'll work.

        • it works on Telstra post-paid, providing you are willing to give up that plan

          • @yellowfever: Thanks for that. Just spoke JB aswell, looks like I'm going to need to port in a number from somewhere else to get the deal, but it's a moot point at the moment as he's saying the Telstra systems are down.

            • @EnnZed-Shopping: don't listen to the muppets at JB. They don't know about the ability of the steps noted in the comment above. You just need to sign up a new plan. And then do the porting via online chat.

But also don't rely on me either ahah

        • +2

tested this out on telstra chat, i am on post paid month to month but no contract.

i said i got a new sim plan on 12mths contract and new number, want to use my old number on the new sim and cancel the old month to month, they said no problems they can do that for you anytime.

          • @bl33su: Did this earlier in the week. Signed up for $69 plan with $10 discount etc. with a new number but added to my current Telstra account (out of contract post-paid plan) on Monday. Contacted Telstra chat on Wednesday, they cancelled my out of contract plan and once the cancellation was completed they assigned my old number to the new plan replacing the new number.

            • @Nobby47: how long did it take to get your old number across to your new plan? I have been waiting for a few hours now, getting nervous

              • @PGee: Took them about 30 mins on Telstra app chat to cancel my out of contract plan. Then I contacted them again and took them an hour to assign my old number to my new sim card for the new contract plan. Have you got it sorted now?

  • Too bad, I am still within 30 days quarantine. So no deal for me until then.

  • +1

I just realised that if anyone wants the $69 (plus $10 credit) and $500 available for port-ins only, just go and get a pre-paid simcard and then port into Telstra.

  • +1

I’m in Vic, 1hr30 into the call but signing up 2 numbers from Optus. Have been on for approx 30 mins with the rep.

Edit: 1 hr 38 all up.

  • Has anyone able to do porting from Boost?
Is there any validity period for JB Hi Fi voucher? Like does it has to be used in 12 months or 3 years?

    • +1

Porting from Boost not allowed. The store reps are checking it even though you are out for a day or two they wont allow(unless 30 days are completed). Voucher has no validity period.

  • I have signed up this morning. Thanks. Just head to the store.

  • btw those in Vic signing up over the phone how do you get your JB $500 card? They mail it to you?

    • +1

Get it sent via the email supplied on signup after the sim card has been activated.

  • I just bought a cheap Optus prepaid Sim because it looks like the $69 with $10 credit and $500 gift card is only available for port-ins (this may have changed since the morning). Can i tell JB that I have an existing telstra account and i want this new service put on onto my existing account? (As i plan on "combining" the two services after so i get existing number on this new plan)
