Same! What do you think are our chances of them honouring the deal from Monday since that's when we called?

      • -1

No idea, though surely there must be some concession for us poor Victorians?

  • Whats the phone number to call through to get deal over phone??

  • +2

In store now, definitely 80gb, 59, $500 gift card for port ins.

    • What state are you in? Only Vic seems to be confirmed atm.

      • Vic

  • I ported away from Telstra yesterday so going through the 1 month wait. I haven't had any luck porting back under the 30 days.

    • Who did you port to? I'm in the same boat.

      • $4.90 Kogan ~ 30 days?

My expiry is in 14 days ~ so I've been prepping

        It will come around again….

        • Ported to amaysim for a month. Guess im not desperate to port back in, and as you said guessing there will be a similar deal next month.

          • @robbiey: At what stage do they reject you? Before or during call to Telstra? If before the gate keepers are JB employees, try another store. If Telstra, then they have you on record as all calls have notes and they check the notes

    • Go to another store

On the same boat… I ported to Vodafone 2 days ago.

I was thinking whether to grab a new number at JB… port my own number to a Telstra prepaid later and then merge accounts.

    • Same, ported from Belong to Vodafone just now. Some people have ported out of Telstra network for one day (or bought a new number on floptus/vodafail same day) and ported to these Telstra deals in the past. So may be try your luck?

    • +1

Just sign up new number and you can get Telstra to replace the number on the plan with your existing one.

  • +1

Hey guys, I just called my local in Vic regional and confirmed the plan is available.

Don’t worry OP. Great deal. Some of the Mods must be having a bad week or something. I highlighted a deal from Didi earlier that is giving away $40 credit for new riders and was flagged a ‘referral spam’ . I Didn’t even include my own referral code! Makes absolutely no sense as someone did exactly same thing with this 86 400 post highlighting about doubling the sign up credit from $10 - $20. Give this some thumbs up if you agree 👍🏻 Hopefully it doesn’t get flagged as an ‘accusation’ and gets a proper response from them instead as it’s a genuine question.

    • Please see mod note in description for explanation.

    • And to further add to Moochers

I highlighted a deal from Didi earlier that is giving away $40 credit for new riders and was flagged a ‘referral spam’ .

It was removed due to Already in the Referral System, not referral spam.

Got a question? Just ask us in TWAM (not in the middle of a JB post). No need to create a narrative that mods are having bad days.

      • Thanks guys. Appreciate the response. I know you’re just ensuring the integrity of each deal. I Will send a private message if there are any future queries like this.

        • Thanks ozisaver, TWAM is the place for questions about moderation. It will be private between you and the moderators.

  • Does anyone know how long we have to activate the SIM card (especially if getting it by mail)? I presume they don't send out the gift card until after you've activated but plan wouldn't start on the day you sign up, right? Still have a month of prepaid Amaysim credit so keen to lock in the deal but delay activating.

    • ????

    • +1

The person i spoke to on the phone said 5 days. But she didn't sound confident.

  • Need new port in?

  • +1

anyone in brisbane succeed in store yet?

    • Yep in chermside. They knew the deal. Only issue is they couldn’t activate due to Testra servers. But they’ve recorded it all manually and the deal is noted down in full.

      • Same here in Hobart.

        • +1

Got confirmed they have no time for this deal over the phone but can leave a text message to get this done in the next few days. Seems JB is indeed prompting this deal.

HOW TO SIGN UP TO THIS?

    • +1

Has anyone in Vic successfully signed up in Vic? I'm in Vic, and just called up a JB store. They transferred me to the team who processes the contracts for Vic customers who are in WA. I was waiting on the phone for 20 mins to speak with the WA team, but the call was re-routed back to the JB Hifi store. The staff member mentioned that they had a backlog of voicemail messages of people wanting to sign up which meant that the WA sign-up team would take around a week to get back to me. But apparently as long as the JB associate left a voicemail message for them with my details, that the deal would be honoured irrespective of whether the contract was signed-up to today. Hope this is the case!

    • Just signed up in Vic. It was odd.

First, he was happy to do the full $500 and $59 offer but ONLY for Port in (can't because Boost), NOT for new sign ups. Weird.

So then I mentioned I left my number on Monday so they should honour that deal for new sign ups. Put on hold while he checked and then yep, came back and confirmed he can honour it. All done. No need to transfer to WA or wait until a (potential) callback next week.

      • Thanks for the write-up. What store and number please?

  • Just wanted to add my 2c. I've been looking at these kinds of deals longingly for a while now, but the problem is I'm with Optus ($40/mo) that gets me a $10/mo credit on my NBN. So if I go to something like this, I'll be paying $19/mo more for my mobile service and $10/mo more for my NBN, so an extra $348 over the course of a year. I guess I still come out $150 ahead, in a way? That is assuming I was going to buy something from JB irregardless…

Been looking at a Dyson V7 (around $400 at Bunnings etc).

I've always decided I should just stay put with Optus.

Data limits never come into the equation for me (currently only get 12gb/mo with Optus, but I don't use it all).

    • Gave you a + as I don't understand why you got a -

  • Just ported two Vodafone numbers to Telstra in Victoria(Melbourne). Used a random postcode 3059 and they confirmed the $10 monthly credit, 60+20GB data and 2 x $500 vouchers. Had to stay on the phone for over an hour to get through though.

    • What store/number did you call?

      • +1

        number: 135244
        postcode: 3059
        store: didn't ask didn't say

    • I am still waiting on the line, 42 minutes ,….
EDIT: went through at 1:01 sharp!!, very painless and super helpful staff #impressed

      • +2

Also went through after 1 hour. Maybe they've automated that to filter out the weaklings haha

  • I have just gone into a store and called another and they are saying only $300 gift voucher. i dont think this is a real offer

    • +1

It’s definitely a real offer!… they all had internal memos and were advised to not advertise it.

  • damn. i signed up for 400 since it was still a pretty decent deal. bugger

  • Does this plan include 5G coverage?

    • +1

Yes provided there is Telstra 5G in your area.

      • ..And if your phone supports 5G

  • Has anyone actually recieved the gc from Monday yet or we still waiting?
"Those who signed up on the phone from Vic"

    • +1

I asked about this and the JB person on the other end said I would get the JB Voucher as an email 48-72 hours after activating the Telstra SIM (I'm in Victoria BTW)

      • What store/number did you call?

  • Can I buy this one and switch to the $75 mobile broadband package immediately?

    • I think you'd have to pay ETF

  • +1

Hi guys, deal available in store just called and confirmed, today only.
    post code: 2140 Homebush NSW
    good luck!

  • Lol at people getting banned for posting previous deals. Have we turned to ozban now have we?

  • Can you sign up over the phone instead of driving to a store?

    • Seems like you can. I called, mentioned the deal and they processed the order. (i'm in Melbourne though).

      • Confirmed as another Melbournian.

  • Hi guys, do you purchase the international calling separately if you on this 12 months plan? Thanks

  • Confirmed, jbhifi Browns Plains. Grabbing it now.

  • can anyone confirm for phone orders,
plan starts after activating the sim being sent in mail or?

I need my number for work so will be stuffed if it's instant swap over…

    • +1

      Yes to both

  • Just signed up to this offer over the phone calling 13 52 44 and have passed the phone over to my husband to sign up as well.

    • what state are you in.

      • VIC

  • +1

So hang on, is the assumption that the L platers are JB staff being "sock puppets" ?

    • Democracy

  • +1

JB hifi chermside in brisbane honoured the deal straight away. Only issue is the stupid Telstra back end. The order isn’t going through atm. They’ve printed out the paperwork and all signed and noted the deal. Just means I have to wait until later in the day for them to try processing it again. And then come back tomorrow to pickup the gift card.

  • Called 135244 (in NSW), took ~45mins for them to answer. WA call centre completed the application.

Can you use giftcards for pre-orders?

  • Not sure if this is a dumb question but can you use the $500 voucher to pay towards a phone you intend to put on this plan?

    • I assume so, as long as you're buying it outright.
I want to do it so I can put money towards an S20 or the new iPhone 12.
I don't see why we couldn't if we are outright buying the phone.

  • just called up jb store in cragieburn and they confirmed the deal but said they can't do this over the phone and was told to look out for further promos once the stores open up.
i've seen a lot of people saying they did this over the phone how??

    • +2

Call 13 52 44. You may be on hold for awhile.

    • +1

      Try calling 135244. ^

    • +1

Also in Melbourne and went through the phone fine. 13 52 44. Expect a 1 hour wait

      • same, the mrs got it sorted, just over an hour on hold

  • Worked at JB Loganholme. Cheers.

  • I failed to get this deal as they said it is only port in, not new service

    • Did you leave your number on Monday? If so, they will honour it.

      • I have rang 3 times (and waited 1 1/2 hours only for the line to disconnect) - just spoke to a sales rep who noted going to the website and using the 'Contact Us' to ask for a call back - might be worth a try…

This does seem strange to have it on earlier in the week just to cancel and then start back up again…

  • can we price match before paying with voucher

    • yees

      • We are currently on the phone and the lady said that we can't use the voucher for a price match. Not sure how reliable this lady is though.

        • wtf lmao why would it matter.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: I know right … oh well. It is still a good deal so I was like f*** it, i will still get the plan and voucher thank you very much.

        • Yes of course you can. Source: Done it more than once.

        • That's because you spoke to Karen, the payment method used (i.e. Cash, Card, Gift Card) makes no difference to your pre-bargaining negotiation skills and price match requests ;)

Your experience may vary from store to store but generally asking for a manager will net you a better discount and showing photos or deals or prices from other stores/websites will help your bargaining power, I have had a lot of experience and generally can get bigger discounts as a normal customer versus a JB Employee! e.g 20-40% off RRP.

  • Has anyone already onto this plan been able to add $10 International calling Add-on to this plan ? As JB says you can't do that.

    • I bought this plan last monday, went to telstra chat, call and store for add on international call. But they didn’t add international call. So i cancel this plan straightaway!

      • I think you can do it straight on the Telstra app

  • gonna go in later to get this deal. thx OP!

  • I have a plan with Vodafone with a handset, still got 14 months left on the handset, could I just port the mobile plan and still keep paying the handset to Vodafone?

    • No I don't think so. Vodafone will make you pay for the handset in a lump sum when you exit. At least that's what they told me last year when they introduced their No Lock In plans.

  • can anyone confirm this can be done with a new number aswell not just port in?

    • Yep I just got the deal for a new number.

      • the store I went not fulfil this offer
