  • Does this have speakers?

Otherwise would this be a good monitor for Switch, PS4 Pro and PC Gaming all in one?

    • Speakers - 2 x 3 W speakers

  • Is there like a 32 inch version of this with coupon code?

    • There's only the curved one.

    • I'm hoping someone (LiMaaa?) can give us something

  • does this have a vesa mount?

  • I think 27" QHD / 32" 4k is the best. 27" is too small for 4k.

    • +1

Cant u just change it in windows screen resolution setting to use qhd / 2k res on 4k capable monitor like this one?

      • definitely

  • I have a 32" 4k and was looking for a 27" 2k to act as the 2nd screen (pivot to portrait). Am I better to get another 32" 4k to avoid the scaling issues? I am concerning my neck will hurt after turning left and right all day with 2 x 32". P.S. they are for work, I often need to have a few programs running at the same time and large spreadsheet.

  • Will this be a good monitor for the ps5 and 3070?

    • +2

Should be okay with PS5 as I think the general consensus is that there wont be many games that play above 4k@60FPS. It doesn't have HDMI 2.1 so you may not get all of the benefits of the 3070 (Im not a graphics card expert). There is a trade off between hz/FPS and Resolution at this price point.

    • Will this be a good monitor for the ps5 and 3070?

It comes down to two things:

      1. Will you use 3070 significantly more than PS5 on the monitor?
      2. Do you want >60 fps gaming for either one?

This monitor is a compromise (price is good, but tech isn't next gen at all). Without HDMI 2.1 and technically not even quite HDR400 (which is a specs the display makers want the official spec to include to get the HDR tick), it isn't exactly forward looking to purchase this. It is, however, good value for money.

Need to be realistic, no one is going to sell you a next gen monitor for $348.

  • Tempting. I find text on my 1440p at 27" a bit poor after using higher resolution phones and such.

    • My phone's 7 inches, at 1080 it's impossible to see anything on phones resolution wise on PC sure the bigger the monitor the more noticeable the pixel.

But on phones or consoles No.

  • -5

Nice no hdr tho, maybe scalpers can buy it to go along with their scalper 3080.

    • +3

This model has HDR in it's spec.

      • Ah man my down votes have run out ahhhhhh

        • +1

What kills it for me is a comment below that it does not have HDCP 2.2 meaning it can't play UltraHD movies and stream Netflix in 4K (not I have have Netflix).
I feel that comment maybe correct.. I hope not..

What is the point of HDR if it cannot play this content? I guess games.

          • -5

@fredk1000: Op has mislead us all by not mentioning hdr, until op updates it doesn't have hdr.

HDR on a oled TV is like watching the aurora borealis for the first time.

  • Thanks got one! Was tossing up spending thousands on one that could do 4K/144 fps but settled on this for a few hundred bucks in the meantime. Not sure what difference the 'S' version makes but I just got the 'non S' version.

Excited to finally have display port and HDMI ports on a monitor. Probably will still be a secondary one as I still have a great 2K/144 fps monitor that I've been rocking.

Free DELL shipping, hopefully no delays!

  • It's quite cheap, I have two 27' 4k monitors (one ASUS one SAMSUNG) and I feel happy with them.

  • With another S2721DS deal apparently coming in later today could we expect something for this model too?

  • +7

FYI, this monitor does not support HDCP 2.2 which means you can't stream 4k content on netflix using this monitor.

    • +1

      Would a HDMI/HDCP splitter/stripper solve this issue?

    • Thanks it is a let down

  • -1

Anyone comment if this monitor good for work and PS4 Pro gaming?

    • +3

Good for work? Depends, if you mostly use newer / up to date applications, display scaling will work well and should be fine (it will feel kinda like a 1440p monitor with display scaling). If you have old apps without supporting display scaling and OS assisted display scaling ended up not working well, it may be slightly unpleasant (or quite unpleasant).

PS4 Pro gaming. You get 4K and honestly fake HDR (at this price, don't expect true HDR). 27 inch is too small to really enjoy 4K. You can still see the difference over 1440p (so it is technically still better). However, with PS4 Pro mostly use dynamic resolution, you are not really seeing true 4K for most games.

      • thanks. Any monitor you suggest or I should keep an eye out for?

        • 4K TV is better for consoles at the moment. It depends on what you are really after. A lot of people just want to have a 4K display and Dell enticing people with a 4K display that's cheaper than 1440p gaming display isn't helping people to resist it.

Ideally, we prefer 4K 120/144/165Hz gaming monitors to become more affordable (unlikely to happen soon though). Realistically, Sony has no incentive to support 1440p mode on PS4 Pro and quite possibly PS5 (even if the games in performance are actually 1440p) - because Sony sell TVs, but not PC monitors. Also, marketing wise, 4K sounds better to general public (though gamers may prefer 1440p high refresh).

At this price range at the moment, it is all about compromises. Need to know your situation (what you have currently, priority and main usages for the new monitor - mostly gaming and watching videos or more general usage). It's really a decision you need to make.

          • @netsurfer: Appreciate your comments and knowledge with monitors. You certainly helped many (including me) with the decision to buy S2721DGF monitor.

Regarding this monitor 4K 2721Q paired with the 2K 2721DGF could you please share your thoughts.

            • I use both Mac OS (primarily) and Windows 10. My setup is a 10700k intel with 5700XT GPU.

            • My primary use case is for work - coding, documenting, spreadsheeting along with browsing and YouTube. Using dual monitor setup.

            • My secondary use will be PC gaming on the 2721DGF monitor.

            Thanks for your feedback!

  • One for me, thx hkborderzone

  • This is so sweet

  • When does this expire?

  • +1

How does one get those $60 coupons people keep mentioning? Is it too late?

    • I believe you need to spend a certain amount on the Dell site. Most of the recent ones are most likely from people bought the S2721DGF when it was on sale.

      • +1

Ah, right. Would have thought heaps of people wouldn't need another monitor but I guess they can't resist a deal.

    • +2

Dell give you a coupon worth 5% off your order to use on next order. Usually get it 2 months after it's delivered. Seems to have been an error and people who bought the S2721DGF got 5% of the RRP instead of what they paid or something like that.

  • Great find op! There's also the S2721QS version with the adjustable stand. Comes to ~$408 with the code.

  • Bought one, had a 30 dollars voucher which made it $318 dollars, first 4K monitor, thanks op

  • Do these monitors generate a lot of heat? I have the really really old U2410 thing heats up the room in summer

    • I dont know about this one but my S2721D is cool to the touch, I cant feel any warmth around it at all… (only 23c in here today)

  • Bought 2 from last eBay sale, still not shipped. May actually get it earlier if I opt for this sale, lol.

  • Is there Afterpay? I can't see it in checkout only Credit Card, PayPal, Internet banking,12 Months Interest Free

    Got one - cheers

Finally got one! My first 4K monitor, thanks op

BTW, don’t forget to use cash rewards for $9.49 cash back

  • +1

    Got one! thanks OP

  • Cheers, just got one. Couldn't wait for a mid-to-late Oct sale, even though I feel like the QS might be around this price by then. ):

  • my 2k 27 haven't arrived yet, but i think it should be a good upgrade from my current FHD 24, maybe i will pick up a 4k 32 next time when i upgrade.

  • I bought and returned due to his wobbling stand, unbelievable, I purchased the S2721QS, way better stand. The panel quality is very good and sharp, but it is true that 4k is very high res for 27".

    • +1

      Hi,

How long have you had the screen? I thought they just came out.

Was the panel/display quality consistent between the two panels you had?

Not sure of your price difference you paid between the Q and QS model, you maybe could of bought a Monitor Stand with Pneumatic Arm for about $50.

      Thanks.

      Hi mate,

Just wondering whether you have an XBox One S or X and have a UHD blu-ray by any chance? If yes, any chance you can test it on the monitor? Really hoping to clarify whether this monitor is limited to HDCP 1.4 or it actually supports HDCP 2.2 (which is needed to playback UHD blu-ray discs).

      • Hi,

        Sorry missed this message.

I have received my monitor at my parents house so I do not have it in my hands yet. Yes I have Xbox One S, I pretty much bought the screen to watch UHD movie discs off it.

I read comments that it does not support HDCP 2.2 after I bought it too which I thought was a bummer.
I was going to try it first but if it did not work I was going to buy a HDMI splitter that gets round the HDCP 2.2 problem.

First thing I test when I get it. Maybe next week?

        Fingers crossed.

Someone commented PS4 Pro reports the screen to me HDCP 2.3.

        Yah..

Sze Kai is such a killjoy. I was contemplating cancelling my order because of that comment that it did not have HDCP 2.2.
I did research after that comment but found no real information about it but it did suggest it did not support it but the 32" did.

      • Hello

I am glad to report that on my S2721Q and my XBox One S that I can play UHD Bluray discs.

        Xbox One S 4K TV Details;

        Watching Movies and TV
Does not Support 4K at 50Hz
        Your TV Supports 4K 10-bit at 60Hz
Your TV setup doesn't support all HDR10 modes
Your TV setup doesn't support Dolby Vision

Unfortunately I need to go and buy a DP cable, my PC has a DP to HDMI converter which seems not to support 4K. So just running on FHD for PC currently.
        :(

        Fred

    • Hi Maxwell79

      I just got mine today.

      The Q model.

The fixed stand seems okay to me, not much wobbling for me.
Left and right wobble is almost none, slightly more front to back wobble.

My LG 24" fixed stand had much worse wobble.

But what I use for my desktop is pretty weighted and solid, I could image on a desk not so stable would wobble more though.

So any deals like this for 32inch 4k, like too use one for my Fetch mighty and Android Tv box through HDMI though reading here this 27incher is suited for 4k Netflix

  • Thanks! Got 2

  • +2

I've just bought this one and….

    Purchase Date: 05 Oct 2020
    Arrives by: 24/11/2020

    WHAT?? 50 Days for delivery?

I'm going to cancel my order, that's ridiculous.

  • How long does it take to get it delivered from Dell? I got ETA of 2nd Nov…..for an order on 2 Oct that's exactly 1 month….

    • I think they must've run out of local stock then, I ordered mine by Friday and says shipped - ETA 12/10/20, so 10 days in total.

      • What's your status? My one is "in production" i guess its still overseas

        • +1

That means you missed out on the local stock and the next upcoming batch from overseas. You are on batch 2. It is possible Dell is being conservative and you might be getting one from the upcoming batch (2 weeks from now). At this price, I expect a lot of OZBers getting them. The ETA is quite conservative. Dell is expecting to receive the monitors before then, and that ETA is close to the worst case.

        • My one says in production but ETA is 13/10

          • @Sunproof:

My one says in production but ETA is 13/10

That's fast from factory to you!

        • 'Shipped'

          • @albot: Congrates. Since you will get your monitor very soon, would you be able to test it with XBox One X (4K/60Hz with HDR) and if possible also with UHD blu-ray playback on the monitor? Really hoping the monitor supports HDCP 2.2.

            • @netsurfer: Well, funny thing. I bought it for WFH and I don't have a console…

        • 'Out for delivery'

        • +1

Mine just arrived, ordered on Friday.

          • @Sidog: Congrats! Could you test the hdcp version as above?

            • @ChillBro: Sorry don't have a bluray player or xbox one x… got it for the PS5. Can I test with a laptop?

              • @Sidog: You can from what I've read as long as you have Netflix 4K or even Prime Video in 4K.

                • @ChillBro: No, please read the question carefully, he mentioned laptop.

It's harder to properly test it with laptop and a lot of laptop makers don't make the HDMI port HDMI 2.0a with HDR.

You are asking him to go down the difficult path. Get the laptop to operate in HDMI 2.0 / 4K with HDR mode then test HDCP 2.2.

      • Shipped or in production? If it is shipped, that means you will get one very soon (so less than 10 days).

    • I ordered from Dell few weeks ago, was given 4 weeks estimate. Item was then delivered within 2 business days.

It was a bummer because I wanted to cancel the item as I found cheaper option in Dell Outlet.

      • +1

Try Dell's best price guarantee? Contact support. You have 14 day satisfaction guarantee from Dell. I imagine they would rather refund you the difference, rather than have it returned.

  • +2

Received today. Have it hooked up to a Fetch mighty and can confirm Netflix 4k works. I've got to say I'm impressed at $350. Always used a 24 previously and I can't imagine needing anything above this…its massive.

Let me know if you want anything else tested on it.

    • thanks for your infor, does it mean it supports HDPC 2.2 ?

      • I believe so based on what i've read online. Would like someone else with more knowledge to confirm though.

        • +1

thanks man, I bought one on last Friday and is expected on 12th Oct, was planning use it for PS4 pro, but some comments say it only support HDPC 1.4, if you have ps4, you can see what version of your HDPC is via ps4

          • +2

@icefire09: I just ran this tool, https://www.cyberlink.com/prog/bd-support/diagnosis.do, apparently it says my monitor is HDCP 2.2.

            • @albot: Thank you, that’s such a relief !

              • @icefire09: Hopefully the tool is correct, I have no idea.

                • @albot: Netflix 4K required HDCP 2.2 so that double confirms it. Not to mention Cyberlink test (might have false negative - due to it tests GPU + monitor at the same time) shouldn't have false positive.

No need to do additional tests with XBox One X or PS4 Pro. Netflix 4K is a better test.

Thank you for doing the tests.

                • +1

@albot: Sorry to trouble you. I just wanted to be very sure. Can you please play a 4k video on Netflix and press Ctlr+Alt+Shift+D to see if it's playing in 4k resolution?

It should state that its playing in 3840x2160p.

                  Thanks!

                  • @Sze Kai: Have you tried the Cyberlink software? You think it gives out false positive? To pass HDCP 2.2 test from that utility requires a graphics card that supports HDCP 2.2 and a monitor that supports HDCP 2.2.

                    • @netsurfer: Yes, I believe the Cyberlink software gives out false positive. I have a HDCP 2.2 graphics card but a 1080p monitor that surely does not have HDCP 2.2 but the Cyberlink software checks HDCP 2.2 (GPU/Display) as PASS.

The best way to check is hitting Ctlr+Alt+Shift+D on Netflix to see if its playing at 3840x2160p.

                      • @Sze Kai: Well, Dell is quoting HDCP 2.2 support for their 27 inch 1440p gaming monitors.

The reason is simple. All monitors released after 2017 should support HDCP 2.2 (even ones before 2017 could already support HDCP 2.2), otherwise it is not doing the right thing for consumers. HDCP 2.2 is not something that's exclusive to 4K. Just because you have a 1080p screen, doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to play HDR or UHD blu rays (even if that meant supersampled down to 1080p).

It's just silly design or super cost saving to sell 2020 monitors not supporting HDCP 2.2, regardless of the resolution of the monitor.

HDCP 2.2 is a copy protection tech. It's not restricted to just 4K usage.

  • BUYER BEWARE - so far I have not been able to get 60hz going on 3 computers.

7 year old Mac Pro, using it's HDMI port as well as it's mini display port to HDMI cable.

6th or 7th Gen ThinkPad X1 through its HDMI port.

Huawei Matebook 13 2019 model using it's dongle that has a HDMI port.

I can only get 30 or 29hz going.

Awaiting a USB C to HDMI cable that is said to be able to do 4k 60hz to arrive to see if it works. Something to factor into the costs.

Also I'll add that the left and right screen edges are very weird. They give this optical illusion that the screen is curving. It's kinda like those 3d post cards that you tilt and see different things.

    • +1

I think you'll find it's because the version of HDMI you have on the computers is older, needs to be and only up to 30hz at 4k. DP needs to be at least 1.2, which was released in 2010, so it's possible you Macbook Pro doesn't have it. HDMI version needs to be 2.0, released in 2013. I have an XPS15 9560 (2015) it's HDMI doesn't do 60hz but the mini DP does.

I currently have the screen plugged into my XPS15, getting 60hz.

      • Thanks for the info! The cable does work for me fortunately.
