James Squire Golden Ale 24pk $15.99 + Delivery @ Coles Online [Max 4 Per Customer]

1410

Just found out through a friend that these are going cheap, assume a pricing error.
Ordered the maximum of 4, $5 for delivery (for a 3 hr window), or $9 (for a 2 hr window).
Worked out to be $63.96 + delivery

I have a receipt from my order so I guess I should be ok?

Edit: May be postcode related, mine is 2603. Delivery is tomorrow arvo so will keep it updated.

Edit 2: Coopers Sparkling Ale is even cheaper @ $14.99, and at least for my local shop it now shows that James Squire is out of stock.

    • Isn't it a bit early to start drinking…..how much did you have in that fridge?

  • Was waiting for this, but genuinely suprised they didnt just bite the bullet.

At least us Melbournian's will have the getwinesdirect.com special coming out tomorrow :)

  • hahahahaha…sorry, had to do it

  • Hemmm… One way of increasing the number of customers in your database…

at least got a credit may be good for something!

  • LOL - I didn't place an order because I don't drink beer, and the price wasn't available to my WA address where my beer drinking Dad resides. Now I wish I had placed an order to get the credit!

  • I didn't even get the $15 credit. It was too good to be true though.

    • Maybe they knew you wouldn't fully appreciate Aussie beer ukmark?:p

      • he could always just pop it in the microwave?

        • +2

          Racist bastards :p

    • I haven't received an email or credit :(

The pricing error was also mentioned on this mornings #1 breakfast radio in Melbourne (3AW rumour file)

  • My order still shows as "scheduled". Maybe they just haven't gotten around to cancelling them all yet.

  • $15 online credit should be given to all. See @colesonline twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/colesonline

So I get credit for 2 orders (mine and my dads), which, when put towards the getwinesdirect offer = 1 free case! While I was happy with cheap beer, I'm also happy with effectively free beer!
(yes I know, I still have to buy $30 worth of groceries from coles, and do the "click & collect" thing, blah, blah, blah).

seriously be thankfull for the $15 credit.. Im sure most knew it may be a pricing error. People do make mistakes.

    • I agree, I didnt bother to order because I knew it wouldnt be processed. Had I known they would give out a $15 voucher I'd have been on board. In the end you did well getting anything.

    • +1

But there is a minimum spend of $50, so they'll still make at least $35 out of people, but now have the details of thousands of new customers who just signed up last night, who will now be getting online "specials" etc…poor form, I reckon…
NB - And don't forget delivery cost (usually $9), so the credit is effectively $6..

      • -1

If they honoured the deal you'd still get the online "specials" etc.
Its not as if you dont get anything for that $35 you have to spend and you dont have use them at all if you really want to protest at being hard done by.
You'll be over it in a day and looking for the next "too good to be true bargain" before you know it :)

      LoL

      'deserve'?

      really?

      did we 'earn' it?

  • +1

only a matter of the time until the 'By Law they have to honour the price' comment…

Before anyone starts… LEGALLY they DON'T have to honour it.

It was a mistake, you knew that there was a chance that it was when ordering. Simple, mistakes happen

That's true up until the point that they charge your credit card, which therefore enters you into a binding contract for them to supply the goods at the agreed price.

So far no call or email on my order… expecting a delivery tomorrow sometime at work. :)

      • +1

Correct, there is a binding contract when payment has been made HOWEVER..

In checkout you agreed to the terms and conditions of that contract which stated they were allowed to cancel orders in the case of a pricing error, thus they are following the binding contract you are referring to.

They are well within their right to cancel all orders, which they are doing.

      • if you log on to your Coles Online account and check your scheduled delivery, it will say your order is cancelled.

  • still not received a $15 credit but i dont really care since it is effectively $6 credit after delivery fee…

I think coles can do alot better, this is not good publicity for them.

Apparently they are delivering some beer

    • Sheeeeet… Can you say 'can of worms'?!

  • But I already have a email saying it got cancelled and $15 credit :(

Mine was suppose to be delivered this afternoon. would be nice if it did come.

Here's a report from ZDNet. At least OzBargain was mentioned :)

$15 less shipping so that becomes $6 at the worst case (pardon pun)…. thats a bargain, I recall recently quite a few hundred sold their personal details here for a scammers cheap pen, that no one got… LOL

This is far better than most pricing mistake errors…

That said, I know its disappointing, but it was to be expected.

While they have offered this, it will be interesting to see how many are given the $15, looks like some didn't even get a cancellation notice in time, and others have had to call up to confirm the credit, as the emails they did receive didn't include any reference to the $15

  • Take away a man's dignity, take away his money, takes away his car, take away his wife and kids, hell, take away his house…
But you don't ever, ever, ever, take away his beer!

  • +3

Anyone else annoyed that they delivered the beer to some people but not to everyone???

    • Some people were lucky… Other's not so lucky!

  • yeah not impressed by that at all

I dont want a $6 voucher (after facotoring in delivery), what good is that.

  • +4

Coles Online's Facebook page now states that for anyone who has not used the $15 online voucher will get mailed out a $15 Liquorland voucher and for all new customer who registered on that day for the offer will have their account and personal info deleted.
Good on ya Coles!!! I would rather have a $15 Coles voucher as a Liquorland voucher can get them in trouble as I'm sure Herald Sun will have an article stating the Coles Online now contributes of Australia's Drinking problem.

  • +1

Hey I got my beer! two slabs of sparkling ale & slab of carlsberg which was at normal price, sweet!

  • Just got me a $15 liquorland Voucher in the post!
    Thankyou Coles :-)
