This is available daily and has been going on for some time now. It isn't a deal or a promo price.

        Let's do it haha

  • Looks pretty bland…

    • +2

yeh. bad supermarket white bread, very average supermarket salads & very average supermarket roast chicken

    • The woolies chicken is really dry and the one I had last time didn’t have stuffing. Much dryer than usual. So not for me.

Rather go to nandos or get some frozen Inghams Flaming winglets.

    • around $8 each for a chicken i think

    • +1

Seeing how they need 24 hours notice, the chickens used are probably the unsold $2 ones.
      It's a smart move actually. $17 vs $25.

Doubt it, chicken is hot and they’re not allowed to sell chicken that old.

        • allowed

i doubt there'd be much policing

same with all the restaurant 'nightmares' we hear about, no matter how big the chain

        • My local Coles sells left over BBQ chicken in the Deli. Its called something like "shredded BBQ chicken". They just debone the left over chooks and sell it by the kilo. I'm pretty sure I have seen the same in some Woolies stores too.

I'd say the 24 hours notice for this offer allows Woolies to cook more chooks the day before. If they sell at full price, great. If not, they put them aside and resell in this bundle the next day. This would allow them to sell more chooks right through until closing, knowing that they do not have to discount a heap of them if they do not sell because they can flog them off to customers that have pre-ordered for the next day.

If anyone believes that Woolies are the fresh food people, just try ordering online. Despite the ads to the contrary (even when you specify you want fresh perishables), they dispatch meat and dairy products with 1-2 days expiry to online customers…..at full price. In my experience, there is nothing fresh about Woolies. Thankfully when they do this, I make them honour their "fresh or free" promise so I get a refund AND a voucher credit.

Nah I used to work there. Once someone cooked way too many chickens during night shift. It was on heavy discount and we still couldn't sell out. We ended up throwing about 40 whole chickens in the bin. I think now days they resell it as cold chicken. I.e. they glad wrapped it and sold it as reduced stock.

But you can tell the difference. The chicken is serverely dehydrated those day old ones. Also it's really hard to keep chickens fresh for more than two hours in the warmer. Best to get them as they come out of the oven.

I'd say that the offer is not worth it as the real price hike items are the coleslaw and pasta salad, which probably cost like 20c each for them to make

Do you really want Woolies brand coleslaw and pasta salad?

But like another commenter said, it's more targeted at people who are doing events like office party and stuff, they can get away with it - similar to how I saw donut king in a business area charging outrageous prices for a box of donuts. It all just gets charged away

I had a look on Amazon and they wouldn't price match Woolworths platter

    So disappointed

    • +6

same price on Aliexpress, worth the wait.

      • Don't forget cashback!

  • +2

I dont get it. Is this a bargain? Im used to $4 chooks at end of day sale

    • +7

Go away Coles employee, go fix your system.

    • +1

      What's wrong with this deal?

  • This “deal” is always at woolies and the order forms are on the counter.

Catered for a party with two of these. FYI the chickens were just fresh bagged while chickens. Not cut up. For ours anyway

  • $7.50 save.

  • +4

Fluck me..! They don’t want 100 points of ID to go with that application form?

  • KFC cheap as Chips is still a way better deal

  • Can ordering online?

  • +2

I take a knee. There should be brown bread roll option!

  • Beware of the pigeon size chickens especially late in the day :)

  • I was told they are not currently available in Victoria.. the platters have covid, or will give you covid, or something..
    wah!
