This is supposed to be for spending $100 in the previous quarter, but they are not checking. Don't ruin it.

It is presented as a targeted code, but works for everyone. So far.

  • -1

    targetted?

    • +1

How does it ruin it you can still use the voucher.

      • +15

Because it got flagged last quarter and they started asking treating everyone like a criminal and asking to see the actual email. If you haven't spent $100 and did not receive the email, then just be aware if planning to use it.

        • -3

How is it my fault if IKEA can't train their staff to treat customers with respect ? Or, to bother spending IT resources creating a unique code for each member?

Anyway, at some point, I'm sure IKEA will plug this loophole, so anyone who want to, should take as much advantage of it as they can.

        • +4

So how does it get ruined? Asking to see the email is a minor inconvenience, hardly being treated like a criminal.

  • +7

Not targeted in the sense the code is generic. Though only those that spent the required amount in the previous quarter would have received the email $10 voucher. So really this is Ikea's fault for using a generic code.

  • +2

Where’s the voucher field on the checkout page?

  • +8

Ikea Springvale VIC asked me to see the full email when I used mine. I had a genuine one so I was OK but just be aware.

    • +1

yes they pretty much now the game at Springy

    • how were you able to show it at Ikea with retail stores all closed? Are Ikea somehow open?

      • Nah this was months ago before lockdown.

  • +3

Yes, I tried the similar one from earlier post but they refused at checkout as I couldn't present the actual email.
Unless these can be used online

  • +7

So we are talking about the incompetence of an IKEA team for generating a generic voucher code instead of a unique one, in the hope that no one would find out and "ruin" it. Great.

    • +3

Yep all their vouchers are generic, for such a large company their IT team is a joke.

  • +4

Victoria defines theft as 'A person steals if she dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it'. This isn't theft if the code is generic and the same for every recipient. It's up to IKEA to enforce the Terms and Conditions. Don't confuse ethics with legislation.

Everyone has the same code in their email. The terms and conditions state:

    • $10 reward refers to a $10 voucher issued to an eligible member to redeem either instore or online by 31 Dec 2020.
The voucher can only be redeemed once by the eligible member.
This voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other voucher.
To redeem the $10 reward instore, members must either present the original reward email to an IKEA staff at checkout to scan, or scan the barcode from the reward email at the self-serve checkout.
Alternatively, to redeem online, customer can enter the coupon code in the field box before they proceed to checkout.
There is a minimum spend of $10 to redeem this reward and can only be used in a single transaction.
The $10 reward must be redeemed within the pre-defined quarter.
The redemption cannot be made to purchase an IKEA gift card.
The redemption cannot be used to make payment on services such as Picking, Delivery, Assembly, Installation and Mattress & Sofa take-back/recycling.

I'd expect them to implement stricter controls if they didn't want it to be shared.

    • +4

I'd expect them to implement stricter controls if they didn't want it to be shared.

Ikea has self-serve checkouts. They depend on honesty. Silly Swedes.
On the other hand, they fiddle the books so they don't pay any taxes. They claim to make no profit in Australia.

    • +1

Yep, using the voucher without meeting the criteria is definitely not theft. Fraud on the other hand…

      • Yeah, strictly speaking it is fraud. Not that I expect any consequences for anyone who gets caught out without the email.
They would all know from last time anyway to bother caring out not lol

    • While I would still not argue that it would satisfy the test, you were to put forward that this was illegal you would go for a more specific dishonesty offences such as 'dishonest manipulation of a machine'.
That offence, found under section 141 of the Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935 (SA) provides:

A person will be guilty of dishonest manipulation of machines if that person intentionally manipulates or takes advantage of a machine in a dishonest fashion, and in so doing intended to receive a benefit or cause a detriment.

'Machine' is given an extremely broad definition that would almost certainly encompass QR codes and the requirement to permanently deprive another is nowhere to be seen.

Checked my email - looks like it is meant to be for those that has done the $100. I don't have the voucher email - as I haven't spend $ at Ikea lately.

Is everyone getting $5 fee for click and collect?

    • +1

      yep

    • +1

You can essentially look at this voucher as free small item metro shipping (+$1 credit) or free C&C (+$5 credit).

  • I'm more interested in how I can use this on food lol

  • Bought some LADDA's for $7.99 c&c, thanks O.P.

    • +1

So you wasted $2.01? Hand back your OzBargain badge.

      • Wasted $5 on the c&c fee. I bought the 900 AAA ones.

  • I got the email. Can I use it on multiple occasions or is it just one-off?

    • They ask you at check out if you have used this already.

  • Does someone have the actual email they could send me and cross off / black out personal details :)

    • Or they could be an even better bro (or sis), and upload it on an image-sharing website, so more than one of their 'Ozbargain friends' can be helped. :-)

    • I don't have the email, but last month when I earned the voucher, the staff member at Ikea Tempe insisted that they scan my membership card, instead of the QR code. I assumed this is because then they can access the voucher through the membership without needing to ask to see the email.

      • thanks for the heads up. what about if you went to self check out? could you not scan the generic QR code or enter the code?

        • The self check outs have been closed the last couple of times that I've been, assumed it was COVID related.

        • The time before that when I tried to use the voucher with self checkout, I needed the employee to log in and they asked to see the email. Since they saw it was a screenshot, they said I didn't qualify. This was in July. It's worth trying, but I think they've trained their staff and altered their systems/processes to minimise 'misuse'.

          • @onesandtwos: I see thanks for the heads up.

          • @onesandtwos: Yes, I used self-checkout yesterday and can confirm that on scanning the voucher, the point of sales system prompts for a staff member to allow the transaction to be finalised.

  • Did Ikea remove the option to input codes from their online portal ?? It was active a few minutes ago but it seems gone now.

    • +1

      Still working for me.

You can find it under "Input Discount Code" when you go to your first shopping cart screen (before checking out).

  • Are they that particular on pick up date and time?
It is showing pick up date as 14, 15th and 16th and a particular time slot.
Or can we go and collect on weekend also?

  • +1

    good for getting ladda batteries

used it last time to get AAA and AAAA batteries

  • The shared code can be treated as a "shipping fee" for online order, so I gave it up.

  • has anyone been asked to show the email during C&C?

  • Can you redeem multiple times?

    • Not anymore. Went to ikea today and the voucher didn't work. They said it had already been used

  • for some reason, richmond doesnt show up for me as pickup

    • Same for me. Item was showing available as well for its in stock.

  • some reason I can't seem to choose pick up option for Perth? Anyone having same issue?

  • As an alternative, if you're not too attached to your Ikea family number, you could just delete it from the app, then register for a new family number and they'll email you a $10 welcome credit.

I had to do this when my Ikea family number with the $10 reward somehow got disconnected from my online account so I couldn't use it online.

  • i got same code but email says its because i spent over $100 last quarter. so im not sure if code it linked to a membership number or not and able to be used by anybody unless they ask to see the email? can someone confirm it can be used more than once of different POS or days?

  • +1

I used it for free shipping + $1 credit, better than nothing

  • I did not get any email, just completed my online order, worked, thanks OP :)

  • This is definitely the best deal around, I used it about 10 times last quarter, and got the email again with a new voucher for this quarter.

  • I placed an online order for delivery 5 days ago but the order status hasn't changed. Next update stage is "Picking in progress". I used a bday discount code instead of this one.

Is this typical of delivery orders? I'm wondering if there's some kind of delay because they're checking up on orders that used a discount code?

    • I can't even find the box to put in the voucher.

  • +1

Thanks, needed a $9 handle so topped over limit with some cheap ziplock bags, $2 bargain all up in store. Take that IKEA

  • Might buy some more LADDA's.

  • +2

No issues using the voucher (without original email) at Richmond. They also have a new cafe section (separate to the hot dog stand). $3 ham & cheese croissant, $3 small edamame and freekah salad, $4 600ml Coke less $10 from the voucher equals a free lunch.

    • They didn't ask for the membership barcode too!?

      I gotta try this!

      • +1

I did scan my membership barcode first but you can easily sign up for an IKEA family membership.

        • Sounds like I could reuse an old account to redeem it, given how the QR code is not unique.

          Hmmmm…
