      It's not a modem, so you'll need a modem…

  • What's good about these? Why are they so popular?

Superior product to any other all-in-one, really bleeding edge prosumer home network. Nothing else exists in this class in my opinion.

DPI, one of the best Wireless APs (range/thruput/intelligent and automatic channel scanning changing, essential in apartment), VPN (site to site, server) support and more.

Deep Pack Inspection, Intrusion Detection System & Intrusion Prevention System are pretty much non-existent in consumer devices. They basically alert on (and sometimes prevent) adversary activity on your network. It is unlikely you will be targeted by a skilled adversary meaning the detection rate should be pretty good. The most likely scenario would be detecting malware beaconing out and automated scanners sending traffic. The latter being nothing of note.

The VPN would also be nice as well if you are hosting something (like Plex) on your network. I assume you could set it up so that you have to tunnel in to access it. Similar to work from home solutions.

  • Paid $550 for this in June :(
    This is a sensational price.

  • I was going to pull the trigger, but I've been reading horror stories or should I say a lot of negative feedback on this. Then again, it could be the vocal minority.

  • Best router ever. Bought for $480 last week. Blows 4 next wifi routers OUT OF THE WATER. Screw nest. Hello dream machine. Warning: not for old grannies to setup unlike the nest

Also get 7ms ping instead of 14 and 105 Mbps instead of 95mbps. Upload has gone up too!!! Hell yeah
