It's good student study laptop. Great price.

    • Maybe not for Graphic Design students…

      • Haha

Enjoy the downvotes as people confuse 'critical' with 'needlessly negative'.

        • Look in the mirror to find the answer

          • @Icecold5000: I can't see anybody in the mirror.

1080p screen is very impressive at this price. This could be a very good economical option for those not interested in gaming.

    • Max Quantity != Min Quality.

    • +2

Even for gaming, the Vega 3 is modestly competent. eSports and older or less demanding games will run at 720p low. What computer are you gonna get that's better at gaming for ~$300.

  • Windows 10 in s mode.

Is this like Windows rt, but with the possibility to buy and get full version Windows? How much does that cost?

        Oh nice

    • +5

S mode is the Windows 'safe mode' where you can only install apps from the Microsoft Store and browse the internet using Microsoft Edge.

Switching out of this mode via settings is permanent and free, I did it on this exact laptop a few weeks ago.

      • +4

Oh wow, that's even better than rt (I mean everything is better than rt)

This is a pretty good deal. For a basic no nonsense laptop. 15.6 inch fhd, ssd. Should be quick for most office based stuff. 8gb ram would be nice but for the price…

      • The what store? Microsoft store?

  • Any parts of this upgradeable?

That CPU is worse than my 8 year old i5

read the specs, look back, and it's gone.

    Lighting Deal 100% Claimed
    Missed out :-(

Gotta be happy with the price though…
    All over now though.

    Managed one at last minute

      Congrats

Nice find. I visited and it had 96% claimed.. I should've just hit add to cart, because after reading the description, I clicked 'add to cart' and 100% claimed.

Lesson to you all - don't hesitate.

UPDATE: Kept on smashing the refresh key on browser, and I got one while on waitlist. Phew. It's not for me, but my mum and this is sufficient for her needs.

    • +1

Sorry to hear. When I posted the deal was only 12 percent claimed. I should have bought first and posted the deal. Nevertheless, snatched one when 96 percent fulfilled.

    • Awesome!

  • +4

I was expecting a HD screen at this price but it's FHD. Bargian!

    • Probably were trying to clear it due to the Ryzen 3 4300u version being available. FHD screen in the US around that price point is normal.

  • i think oos

  • +1

managed one - is the RAM upgradable to 16 or 32Gb? and HDD

  • It took 27 minutes from being posted and it's out of stock, damnit was just about to buy it

  • +1

Wow that's a bargain, missed it

  • +3

Curious, why do people take it personally if a deal is good or not?

    • +8

Because it's the age of social media.

Awesome deal - sorry I missed it

Glad I didn't saw this one.

Amazon rip my wallet so badly these last three days.

  • Such a good deal.. waiting for the next sub 500 laptop for the sibling

  • Now the deal is expired, price is back to $550.
worth it at full price? or look elsewhere?

    • Look elsewhere I reckon.

This $599 Inspiron 14 for example has 8GB of RAM, a faster CPU but worse GPU (not everyone is going to game with a dualcore laptop though), a touchscreen with active pen support and a couple hours more battery life over this laptop.

And I don't even think that Inspiron is a bargain. Especially when Dell eBay can take longer to deliver in-stock products than Amazon US, the monitor I just bought from them has an est. delivery date of 15-25 days from now

The CPUs is similar based on the Passmark score

        https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+3+3200U&i….

It not worth the $263 price difference vs the Dell you listed. I'm assuming another lightning deal will happen considering the Acer is being superseded with the Ryzen 4300u model.

        • +1

          I used Geekbench 5 for performance figures and on that benchmark at least, there is a significant difference. The 3200U scored 640 Single-core, 1377 All-core, the i3-10110U scored 1077 Single-core, 2118 All-core.

Well thanks Sherlock, but that wasn't what he asked. What he asked was if it was worth it at full price, or if he should look elsewhere for $550, and at full price he should look elsewhere. Of course, if another deal at $335 comes up this is an amazing bargain.

  • I really needed that one, damn I missed it!

  • Gah, I knew I shouldn't have slept late..

  • Look at the specs they have listed:

Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

    :-)

    • no knwledge regarding computers - is the graphics mentioned above good?

      • +3

This computer does not have a GTX 1050. It is embedded graphics. The 1050 is mid-level/high level (a couple of years ago)……

    • Definitely doesn't have a 1050. Just the OnBoard IGP.

  • Dammit I've been watching that thing for weeks waiting for the price to drop and now I've missed it.

  • I just sat staring at it because it was from the US and I had no idea if it had an AU plug included… by the time I thought "buy now think later" it was already 100% claimed :(

    • Looks like it sold out around 11am
How long have you been staring :p
…jk, I've been checking back throughout the day too, hoping there's another sale somehow.

    • "StevePER" & "webbiegareth" I feel both yours pains.

  • +2

I received this excellent laptop today in a sealed box via DHL express.

    • I am yet to receive the same …..waiting

  • +1
