Noticed the Series S is available @EB for "preorder" of post launch shipment - expected 2020 (with $200 deposit).

This is presented as a preorder even though it's technically post launch, so here's hoping the console trade bonus deal(s) will continue to apply… but not confirmed at time of posting.

See original deal for details and discussion of console trade-in values etc when trading towards a preorder. Supposedly that trade deal is valid until 31 January 2021.

Mods: If you consider this a dupe of the original deal, no worries - I have submitted as a new deal since this is Series S only, and people may not see the old deal any more - also have not confirmed the console trade bonus yet.

    I wonder if they will let me trade in both an xbox one x and a PS4 Pro with the 15% extra for level 3 for preorder. I put them on Gumtree and Facebook but I am getting the most insane messages from people who say they can't quite afford to buy it. It's costing too much in time to get a good price.

      Probably. Eb games always seem keen on letting you trade in pretty much anything!

      The prices they offered on consoles last time I asked were 90% of Ebay prices without the messing around.

      If there is a CEX near you try them. I wound up selling my original PS4 and all the games etc & you can check prices on the website. All done on the spot after 20 mins to check the console etc & got probably 80-90% of private sale estimates without idiots wasting my time/claiming they didn’t get their items, or eBay fees etc

      You can trade more than one console but not two of the same model.

      That's what they told me when i traded a ps4, ps4 pro, launch xb1 and xbox one x.

        Did they apply the trade bonus to all consoles? Looking to trade a x1x and ps4 pro, when I called earlier last week about the value of the x1x they quoted ~$260 for level 1 without any next-gen preorder. So if I got $350 for the x1x with this deal, do they still give the $300 value for the ps4 or only whatever it would be normally? (low $200s I assume).

      After seeing a person get just under 3k for trading in their ps4 and all their games on a FB post I would doubt you would have any issue.

    The console trade in deal will definitely go til next year cause of the high demand for the disc versions of both consoles. Staff member I spoke with said at least mid Jan but it's all up in the air. Head office will make the call in the new year after reviewing sales & trade-in data.

            @AustriaBargain: I prefer the look of the PS5 more. It reminds me of Bioshock somehow. Maybe because it has the retro and futuristic look to it. Good thing too, since I'm planning in getting one sooner or later. This would be even a better looker if paired with a vintage looking pair of cans like the B&W P7W methinks.

      $50 difference after tax doesn't seem too bad, especially considering they have to factor in currency fluctuations over the next few years.

      American prices don't include GST.

      So roughly $411 vs $450 .. pretty fine markup considering how expensive it is to do business in Australia

    I already have a Series X but am interested in this to get the trade bonus to trade my x1x and ps4 pro. I'm hoping they eventually do another round of preorders for the PS5 but am thinking of placing an order for this now just so I can trade my old consoles.

    Can I swap the trade in credit straight over to a PS5 (when/if they do more preorders) or if they don't get any more PS5s just cancel/refund the preorder? (do they give cash in this situation or just store credit?)

    Just updating for those who haven't seen, some of us are sharing our level 4 codes for bonus trade in value. I've had quite a few people use it already with success.

    Im on the fence about swapping my one x for this, given how much better this console is, I don't think the res will matter as much.

      Same, I had two one X - one has been traded for the series X, the other was going to trade for a SS but it's still under warranty and I'm wondering whether to bother..
      It's in the living room, and the one that doesn't get proper gaming time… kind of the kids use and spare, and the TV in there IS actually 4K so better to stick with the one X?
      I'm level three, so getting a $385 trade in for the new one, new controller, warranty, smaller, and the right colour for the cabinet… it's a reasonable deal.

      All that's stopping me really is the smaller SSD and the lack of a DVD drive.
