          4GB vs 8GB though

@kehuehue: I don't think these GPUs are fast enough where 4GB would cause issues.

          • @kehuehue: I tested an RX 5500 XT 8 GB vs a 1650 Super (4 GB) - very similarly performing GPUs - in a game like Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is pretty VRAM-hungry, thinking more VRAM could improve performance. Even though the 5500 XT was clearly utilising more VRAM (close to 7 GB), the 1650S still had higher average frame rates. However, YMMV in other games: I'm just a flight-sim enthusiast. ;)

      • Back in stock now. Just ordered

  • This or the RX570 (8GB) deal?

      570

    • Brand loyalty is for schmucks, get the best value for the money you pay. Which is 1650S in this price range without a doubt.
Half the TDP means savings as you use it as well since TDP = heat+electricity cost, in my opinion.

Buy for value at each price point (things change at different price points) not brand loyalty.

FYI, this is probably one of the worst 580's out there. The armor cooler is a joke. Runs super loud with temps still managing to reach high 80's

    • This, I bought a 580 around this time last year, and there seemed to be consensus that people should keep clear of MSI's cards

      • MSI Gaming X or Gaming X Trio are decent SKU's from my experience, however the Armor series is where they cheap out on a lot of things like VRM cooling and heatsink mass.

None of the YouTube reviews cover Armor cards either because MSI doesn't typically send low-end stuff for reviews, they only send reviewers their flagship ones.

  • Wouldn't recommend this card to anyone. I had 3 that had to be returned, each replacement for the original had different faults ranging from no output to faulty HDMI to dead fans.
