15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

      • How come everybody in the thread say easy exchange ?

Maybe to join my club of raiding the 10% off Ebay cards as well for the big 6PM event :)

    • +2

CAN NOT exchange for voucher. Only buy product straight away. You guys should read before Act

      • My local JB was happy to accept the cards (no limit), but the lady said they werent activated. I was asked to go home, wait for activation and then come back again.
Tried downloading the TCN App, waiting for SMS confirmation to login, waiting …..
will try checking the balance online instead. Would have been easier if I just could add all of the cards to my TCN app and then just scan at jb.
        I got a mix of 50's and a few 30's :- - total around $1200.
JB said they cant hold the product overnight, so I have to go back in this afternoon to get it.
Will report here how I go.

      • Everyone has been saying you can swap them online

        • Digital card , yes
          This card, no

          • @ce5himm: Ok - so just came back from my jb and obviously they have learnt more as the day has progressed.
They refused to take all my giftcards and said the limit was $500. I ended up buying the deficit from suncorp for 5% as that was the fastest method I could think of in store.

From the looks of it, I got a feeling that there isnt a hard system limit, its upto who you get on the counter.

            All the best guys!

            • @Dealking: Yes, they have a memo, now they only take 500 tcn card. But still you can mix with JB's own gift card, or maybe other card not issued by tcn.

              • @ce5himm: Yes, exactly what I did, but unfortunately I ended up having excess TCN gift cards. I was kind of prepared for that - will probably save them for a later purchase :-)

                • @Dealking: You have another 3 years to use, r U sure you won't buying anything from the retailers on the card in the next 3years? 15% is still 15%. Even you do not shop at jb.

That's I always saying, no limit,ok. 500 limit ,fine. 15% won't gone. Now just wait for those balance loaded.

  • IT issues at Coles must be fixed in the Gold Coast. Bought another 5 X 100 HIM cards, all activated fine.

    • try to check balance online, it probably says $0

      • That's should just be a matter of time

  • Has anyone bought the wrong giftcards(because it had a Him front and centre) and successfully got it refunded? Did Coles or the gc company process it? tnx

  • -2

Just curious, why people are buying 5x$100 gift cards instead of one $500?

    • +1

There is no $500 giftcard and also only $30, $50 and $100 are under promotion

    • Highest value cards is $100

    • Think the max denomination is $100 for physical cards

    • Ahh okay, thnx.

Thought there was a $500 card as well.

    • Because $100 is the highest value on the Him/Her cards….

  • Bought 3 x $100 HIM cards at Coles Redbank Plains (plenty of stock there as at 9am this morning) and all activated fine. Might have to get more later.

  • The $100 him cards at my coles seem to come in a gold and blue pack. Wondering if that is the correct one or not…

    • +1

No, these cards are by Bananalab and are NOT on this promo. You need to look for cards by TCN The Card Network.

      • Oh bummer! I went to several coles yesterday to stock up in advance but got the wrong ones lol. I didn't see any TCN him or her cards at any of the stores I went to

  • Anyone worked out if you can use Coles Gift cards to pay for these or if there's a hard block?
Also if i could do flybuy dollars.. that'd be good too.

    • I used my coles gift card i got from commbank awards. Works fine. The staff might be a bit standoffish about it but just say it worked in another store.

  • So is deal on or not?

    And is Jb accepting it?

    • I called my local (Penrith) and they said they are accepting them, and if there was an issue they would fine a work around for me. Didn't mention a limit.

    • JB are accepting in store. Just spoke to one in Vic who said they will exchange for jb gift cards also.

  • Early this morning they didn’t have any tech glitches and wasn’t even restricting us to 5 GCs. Wife and I managed to get 10 each. But when the last batch was billed, the HIM cards weren’t getting activated and the cashier said they would be shelving all the HIM cards.

Also managed to make a purchase at JB without any restrictions.

  • -3

My local coles let me buy all of them 17 x $100 cards. Manager said they have been told to enforce a 10 card limit per transaction. He said nothing stoping you from leaving and coming back in besides how many are on the shelf.

    • +5

Bit of a dick move to clear out the shelves in one go like that though.

      • +4

Why? They have boxes out the back. Also had 100 x $50 cards. I plan on buying a tv and giving them as gifts for christmas.

        • Also was told by manager that they have been told to stagger these cards. So putting a certain amount out multiple times a day.
Only strong limit they have is google play cards capped at 5 and steam cards which arent part of this i think?

        • +1

I'll upvote you as I got negged for just giving advice that at 6am I could buy 15 in one hit. Was just testing to see if it worked. It did so thought I'd share that info then I get negged for being greedy.

          • @iShibby: Well, it is pretty greedy. Neg away, but just calling a spade a spade…

          • +2

@iShibby: Cheers. I cant vote yet. No idea why people getting salty. They were apparently prepared for this. Have heaps out back. Good work getting some for youself!

  • Local coles took his and hers off the shelves saying technical glitches, probably they knew everyone is running to jb to redeem them.

  • Everybody is keen to make a sale.

  • Coles just called, issue is fixed

  • +2

    Totally random…of the 3 coles I visited
    - One pulled all cards off shelf
    - One sold me 5x100 HIM cards all activated no issues
    - One had cards on shelf but they weren't allowed to sell them until manager gave approval.
Pretty ordinary effort from all parties involved.

    • +2

How weird. Obviously the offer is being used in a way that the merchant didn't intend, but seriously, if you're going to run an offer, be prepared to run the offer, not shirk it.

    • I went to my local Coles and they hide all the discounted cards off the shelf
I asked the register lady and she said I have already bought this morning (where I haven't visit Coles today)
Without apologising, she just say "you look similar to others.." wt……

      • Which coles?

  • Hopefully have stock in Perth before 9am

  • Went in at around 7:15am this morning, bought 5, card got charged $425.. a few seconds later a decline came up, so the lady told me to use another card. Without thinking, I tapped my amex and got charged another $425. The declines came through re: activation, so I hung out while trying to figure it out. A lady ahead of me then moved onto the HER cards and they went through and activated. I got 5 HER cards and then tried to put through the transactions, about 10 mins after the first lady, and got charged $425 and then they declined again. So I've got $1275 pending charges, over 10 x 100 cards which they're holding at the moment. I'm putting off going back to do the refund / replace until I can confirm that at least one of the HIM or HER cards are getting activated now. Please comment if you're finding that the activations are going through or not! Would like to try and do this during my lunch break, and will bring a friend who happens to live across the Coles so that we can do the 10 cards across 2 transactions (lord I hope they don't make a big deal about this).

    • Bought 3 x $100 HER cards at 9.30am. All 'approved' on my receipt. Was showing $0 but active on TCN, $100 per card showing up about 1.5 hours afterwards

  • -1

Card not working at jb hifi. $0 balance when purchased for $100. Massive inconvenience and will now need to follow up with the card provider

    • +1

Check your Coles receipt does it say approved or Declined/invalid transaction?

    • The correct balance was showing for me after about an hour.

    • I just finished on phone with tcn to get balance activated as was zero for over 90 min. All done an on way to pick up phone :)

      • What's the contact no for TCN? I have this same issue now.

  • +1

I used 10 gift cards from Suncorp Rewards in-store at JB to get my iPhone

    • Isn't that only 5% discount though ?

      • Yea, I'm thinking you may be able to use $500 worth of TCN gift cards, and then get more from Suncorp if you're buying something that's more than $500.

    • Same here, I bought a iPhone 12 mini in JB website 3 weeks ago with 8 Giftcards
      No issue at all
I was even able to use JB Giftcards ($100 x 5) to purchase a $500 JB Giftcards a month back
Maybe they just change the policy now?

      • After reading, I think the limit of $500 is just for TCN only because I can't see one for Suncorp

  • South East QLD, I was only after the Nintendo wallet. At checkout the cashier had to check with management to see if they were still 'selling all these giftcards'

These were fine obviously but it seems likely they would have refused the JB ones

  • +2

Just purchased $400 of him / her in coles. Manager said they just got an email saying the system was back up and i could be the first to try.

All the cards were taken off the shelf.

    • How did it go?

      • Just bought a few 10min ago. They just started to put them back on shelf now.

      • just purchased, no problems

  • Bought HER cards at Coles this morning, went to JB about 30 mins later & they didn’t work at checkout. Anyone else have this problem? How long after Coles activation does it take for them to be redeemable in stores

    • Have you checked your Coles receipt does it say approved or Declined/invalid transaction?

      • Approved

        • cool - then it should be a matter of time before your balance is updated
You may want to check your balance on the TCN website before heading out to JB again!

          • @maverick1: Mine got 'Declined' while I checked the balance online. It showed $0 while the card is activated.

            • @ZYDMZ: You may want to head back to coles and seek a refund
I was asked to call CC but everytime the call gets connected, it appears someone just disconnects
I'm sitting with $550 worth of declined cards currently charged to my card, I'll head back to coles later this arvo
I've also dropped my feedback @coles online

              • @maverick1: The store doesn’t refund them (at least mine didn’t) and told me to call that number. I got through but they want you to email pics to [email protected]

                • @bluepop: alright - atleast you were able to speak to someone, I've called them 5 times, only to be disconnected almost every time and once was transferred to TCN for god knows what!

                  • @maverick1: The same! I called them several times (Coles care), they answered the phone while transferred to TCN directly after I claimed the issue without any further words. And the local store refused to refund to me whatever I said. Such a bad experience with Coles!

    • Yes. I’m having the same problem. There are no funds on there. I called Coles customer care and had to send pics of the cards. They said there is an issue with them not loading. It’s usually instant

    • Mine just worked around 30 mins back at jb hi fi

      • Did it take a while or did it work straight away

        • it worked straight away. But also to note, I purchased the gift cards this morning around 6:30 am and used them at JB around 10:30 am . And I guess it was before the mayhem around activating them started on TCN

    • Worked now. Took around an hour after Coles activation

  • No cards of any denomination left at either Bondi Junction Coles.

    • they may have pulled them off due to IT issues

      • They got cleared out earlier in the day at the Westfield one, at eastgate they didn't seem to have any at all

  • Sold out at Brando Park. Any ideas if the will restock these?

  • Bloody TCN, bought 3x 100 around 9AM and try to pay at 9:30 AM but didn't work. Had to pay with CC for the Samsung SmartThings anyway…

And the card is Active when I checked just now

  • Plenty left in Coles Victoria park ( WA)
Got the him cards and they seem to be fine

    • Heaps Coles wanneroo WA. Got $500 HIM

    • Also got office works to price match Google play cards.

  • +2

Everyone, I can very well confirm you can use unlimited amount of these cards at J.B hifi. I just went and used $1750 worth value of him/her cards this morning. Can attach receipt if someone wants it.

    • +6

No, you can't confirm that at all. You can confirm that YOU did it that once. That's all you can "confirm."

      • +4

You are technically right mate!!! But I am listing my experience, even though the terms and conditions state you can only use $500 worth of gift cards. The Staff at JB hi-fi Castle Hill and Chatswood said they have been doing multiple Him/Her cards since morning. If my experience helps someone, I job as a fellow OZB is fulfilled.

        • What you get? Having a hard time thinking about what you would buy at jb over $1000 that I 'd need other than a laptop.

    • What about buying JB digital gift cards with these?

      • You can't

      • My wife did that this morning at Chatswood Jb hi-fi store. Though I didnt require that as, I straight away wanted to buy something today at JB hifi so never needed the JB vouchers. But the lady there again stated you could convert into vouchers without issues.

  • No HIM but HER x2@$50 for me today… going to be kinda strange rocking up with HER @ a JB :)

Might see if any other cards exist here in The Shire

  • +3

Can confirm the cards are just back on shelf for purchase!
I was at Coles 10min ago to buy Google Play card, was waiting outside to keep a close watch to the GC stand and a few min after someone said they could buy again, a staff member came with full basket load of GC and started putting them back on shelf!! :) Snap up a few and off to buy iPhone for hubby now.

    • Can you confirm activation and card balance after purchase please?

      • After activating online, mine took an under an hour to show the balance I reckon

  • Saw $100 HIM and HER card but the package doesn't say JB hi-fi, only $50 TEEN card does say… Is this $100 HIM/HER card correct one?

    • +1

Asking the same question, would this work at JB?
