Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G 256GB $2497 (Was $2999) @ JB Hi-Fi

240

Thanks to the leak of the Black Friday catalogue we know the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G will be discounted by $500 down to $2499 outright. The catalogue only shows the Mystic Black model so it's not clear if Mystic Bronze will also be discounted.

Black: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-z-fold2-5g…
Bronze: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-z-fold2-5g…

Note that this appears to be the cheapest Galaxy Z Fold2 5G which is not a grey import or from a relatively unknown online retailer/seller, and not on an EPP site. With 5% discounted giftcards through Suncorp Benefits, this comes down to $2375.

If you do have access to Samsung EPP or Samsung educational store (thanks ltbonline), it is currently $2399.20 delivered, with the potential for a further $50 saving through the newsletter coupon.

And don't forget Samsung Care+ for $399 (not currently discounted as far as I know) if you want the Applecare+ equivalent!

Note: If you are interested in the first gen Galaxy Fold, it was recently available for about $1500 at JB Hifi and Harvey Norman… but I assume that was just to clear out stock given how much improved the 2nd gen model is.

  • That Galaxy Flip for half price of $999 is kind of interesting too.

      Thread on it here
Maybe I'm too much of a scrooge but 1k on a 4G phone is too much for me.

I think you put the wrong hyperlink, this is the right one here.

        • Ha thanks! Not sure how I managed to copy the same page

      • Eh, my iPhone 12 Pro has 5G, but at this stage it doesn’t seem to make much if any difference. Sub-$1000 would make it even less of a concern IMO.

        • Agreed.

The Galaxy Flip 5G however is slightly different beyond 5G capability:
          Z Flip 5G: Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus, 8/256GB, 3300mAh
          Z Flip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, 8/256GB, 4G, 3300mA

          Source: https://www.pocket-lint.com/phones/buyers-guides/samsung/153…

… whether that's worth the premium/difference is upto individual buyers though.

That all being said though, the iPhone 12's 4G performance is pretty stellar and I was about to get 600Mbps+ on 4G in an inner city suburb in Sydney. (best was 15ms/690.36/59.77)

          • @jace88: Not sure the other differences are worth more than twice the price either!

            • @Mitch889: (I realise I"m not in the Fold 5G thread but…) if it were me, I'd probably get the $999 one and save the money over the 5G with slightly faster processor.

              … but agains the Fold2, I'd still go Fold2. It's a totally different beast.

              • @jace88: Absolutely, Fold 2 is a substantial change that would be worth it for sure.

  • Just don't take it to the beach!!

  • JB so generous knocking $500 off this phone!!!!

I wish it was half priced as well like flip

  • samsung edu is 100 cheaper if it consider a deal;)

    • You're right. It's dropped $100ish since last week to the same as the EPP price I saw of $2399.20. Assuming you stack it with the $50 newsletter coupon, it's marginally cheaper than JB Hifi with 5% off gift cards.

  • Similar to the Nokia communicator but can't send/receive faxes…

That's what I was thinking of. I still have my 9210 somewhere just for nostalgia.

Holy hell, $2500 for a phone!! I get sweaty palms contemplating dropping $400 on a Xiaomi or Oppo.

    • Meanwhile a mate who still uses his iPhone 5c to save money, just bought a brand new car. Everyone has their reasoning hey.

    Obligatory

    "Thanks OP, bought X"

    X being a random number between 2 and 10.

  • Looks like the 75 and 85 inch Samsung Q80T TVs are getting large discounts too in this catalogue. Does anyone know the current price on the EPP or eucation store? thanks

    • +1

      75" is $3411.85
      85" is $4906.85

      (EPP)

      • Cheers! definitely good deal from JB at $500-$600 less than EPP

        • IMO the EPP pricing is never that great vs big sales from retailers unless there's a really huge promotion on… but it's usually good enough for those times when you want something there and then but can't wait for a sale.

  • The TV special looks pretty good, reviews from about 3.5/5 for the Q60T to 4/5 for the Q95T

Edited: in my original post I was complaining about the wrong model Samsung TV. I thought it was going to be the TU8000 but it's actually the Q60T
