damn, I bought this for $55 1.5 months ago. But worked reimbursed me for it so I'm not too concerned

    • Care to comment on how it is for Skype/teams conferences?

I'm looking for a basic upgrade from my crappy laptop camera

      • +2

Yup its works perfect for the price. I have lended to my work colleagues and they also liked it aswell. Very easy to setup, does not require any additional software.

The thing about a "work camera" is that you don't want a camera that is too crystal clear that will show your pimple on face 😂, this camera strikes the right balance

What is wrong with your laptop camera?

        • +1

Works perfect on Linux too. Got two of these since they are so cheap.

        • Cheers for that.
Looks like I missed it this time but have set an alert.
My laptop camera just never seems very clear.
For $29 why not grab a better one

    • How do you rate the microphone?

Does it do well blocking out background noise etc?

      • oh I don't use the microphone so I can't comment. I log into zoom using phone and video using PC

      • When I had use the microphone by accident apparently it was quite soft compare to my dedicated microphone.

      • thanks for that

      • +2

Microphone is poor. You have to speak loud for them to hear you clearly

That little cap is useful. I was just unplugging the USB when not using a webcam, this will make my life easier.

  • Is fixed focus the same as manual focus, or does it mean it can't be adjusted at all. I'm interested in using this for stop motion animation, so I don't want auto focus, but I would like to be able to adjust it manually.

    • +1

The focus has no adjustment, manual or otherwise. It relies on having a small aperture and decent light sensitivity to have a large depth of field (in focus from close up to "infinity").

On the website it says $22.5 but when I add to cart it jumps to $40

    Is anyone else seeing this?

  • goes up to $39 when I added it to cart?

For those missed out, set your 3Camel alert. I bought this a few days ago @$21 before it goes back to $39.99. So far it always go down to sub $25 after awhile. I'll mark this as expired now

  • Damn just got in

  • I paid $22.55 for it, using the Amazon App on my phone.

  • Thanks OP. Got 1 just before the price being jacked.

Damn I bought this for 40$ yesterday!! Oh well. Save up on couple of coffee's and take outs and make up I guess.

How much is it usually? hows the quality?

  • Why are web cams so expensive?

    • +2

      Demand. Also, this wasn't expensive.

      • "Also this wasn't expensive"

LMAO. Yeah honestly not sure since when $20 was considered expensive…

Sorry to go against the grain here, but I bought this camera recently and it kinda sucks.

In low light it's pretty hopeless and you'll look dark. Better to just save up and get a logitech tbh. I'll be sending mine back.

You doing a service, thanks for the advice.

I would be very surprised if this camera is better than a Logitech or Microsoft mid range to high end camera. The sound quality on the better brand cameras is normally better as they will have multiple microphones. As stated above, normal/low light performance on the better brand cameras will be better. Forget what the resolution claims, you are better to have a good 720p camera, than a cheap 1080p camera. Personally I have had better experience with the Microsoft Cameras due to better software support. Some of the Logitech camera software has bugs that doesn't get fixed.

Who wouldn't be? It's just a cheapy, that's pretty obvious.

        • +1

Unfortunately many people just look at the resolution and assume it must be better.

      • I have yet to get a MS cam working on my mac. All are super overexposed.

For anyone needing a webcam who can’t wait for a cheaper price, this looks the same for about $10 cheaper.
