    It's $45 - add to title?

  • Now…this is a bargain!

  • +1

I recently purchased the 12V version of their hammer drill. All works fine, except that the keyless chuck doesn't hold the drill bits very well. At least not as well as my 7 year old Ozito keyless chuck drill did. I find the drill bits often start slipping in the chuck. I have had to resort to using a drill with a keyed chuck to remove the bit.

    • I agree that the keyless chuck on the older models was/is better. I took a 4 year old drill skin back to store for replacement under warranty (which they did replace no questions) only to find that the chuck newer version is 2mm-13mm, so it cannot grip smaller drill bits less that 2mm diameter. Pretty sure the old model would grip down to almost (if not) zero.

Just be aware of a few key limitations compared to other models (also within Ozito range)… not brushless, no hammer function, and only a 10mm (i.e. not 13mm) chuck.

    • +3

      and only 35Nm torque

    • +3

Annoyed I missed the 99 dollar brushless kit

    • Probably fine for hobby or craft purposes though.

    • and slow charger

    • Can this be used as a screwdriver (like the one from IKEA)?

  • Hi OP, just wondering if you know if there are any polishers/buffers for sale?

    • can't see anything. Sorry.

      • That's okay, let me know if you see any

  • What's the normal price?

  • Doesn't Aldi have something similar coming up too? personally I would go with Ryobi for around the house, more tool options and 6 year warranty.

    • I think Aldi just had a 20v workforce drill driver and impact driver set. My local had already sold out as of two days ago.

      • Ok cool. Wasn't sure if the aldi deal had passed still i would stick to ryobi for the small household jobs.

  • How is it compared to the Ikea one?

The compact hammer drill kit deal for $50 a while back was way better. If you're the sort of person buying this just to have "a" drill in the house for the odd jobs wait for hammer drill deal imo

    • I got the compact hammer drill for $50 last year, 40Nm torque, it struggles with drilling into bricks. appx 1mm takes 30 seconds of drilling using hammer function and gear speed 2.

      • If you are routinely drilling into bricks get a rotary hammer. I got a second hand (corded) Boschhammer for 50 bucks and some good SDS bits and it's the most powerful drill I've ever had.

        • I've had to drill half a dozen holes since last year. Only managed 1.5 so far 😁 (procrastinater in chief)
I guess I'll borrow one then.

    • $50 with 3Ah & fast charger.

  • Is it brushless?

  • if only it came with a bigger battery. I'd sell the drill for half the price and keep the batt.

  • Must resist the urge …

    • Must resist the urge …

      Resistance is futile!

  • is it worth paying extra for the $99 kit?

how does this compare to the 37$ Kmart one? https://www.kmart.com.au/product/12v-cordless-drill-set/2172…

    • kmart is 20nm torque, this is 35

      • +2

OMG don't buy power tools from Kmart. From Ozito, you can return and get warranty up to 3 years (sometimes 5 years)

        • yeah i definitely wasnt recommended the kmart one…

          • +2

@harro112: kmart one is fantastic, been using it for a year, it died, and i returned it to kmart without receipt and got full refund

            • @badsadlad: yeah, given it comes with accessories as well. As I only need for basic household work

              • @1parle: yeah the accessories are cool, and the handy case is also great.
its very light, battery never disapointed me, i even used it to drill holes in concrete haha it wasnt easy but i managed to get a couple
ive used it for a year and i can really recommed it

        • 5 years i think

    • Kmart is 12V this is 18V.

    • Also 27Wh battery vs 16Wh. Get the Ozito one.

    Any deals on impact drivers?

  • anyone know if the 1.5Ah battery is thinner/lighter than the 2.0Ah ones?

    • +1

its thinner than 2.5Ah I got from grass trimmer. But don't notice much of a difference in wright when its attached to the drill.

    • +1

Generally the 1.5ah and 2ah are same size. Weight very similar…

  • if i have the $99 kit from the last deal do i need this one too?

    • i'd go with no.

i didnt bite on the $99 and now wondering if its worth spending extra coin to get the $99 one

    • +1

      This one? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/578816

Need? Depends what you're doing. That will do a lot more than this thing. This compact drill is the type of thing you keep in the house with some cheap drill/driver bits so you don't have to go out to the shed at 10 o'clock at night. This is smaller/lighter/less powerful/wont drill masonry, but I'd rather use this on the IKEA furniture than the hammer drill.

      • thanks, still in the box…

      • yeah for general purpose… if i was going through concrete/metal i'd use a hammer drill.

        guess i'll buy this.

  • +2

Hope there will be an Ozito battery deal soon…

  • Not a diy guy, is this ok if i want something to put screws on. A lot of screws. If not, any suggestion?

    • +1

Really depends, what are you screwing?

        • +2

This would bolt together not screw, a cheap socket set and shifter (or just 2 shifters) should do the job. A drill with the right attachments would make it a lot faster but not really necessary.

    • Should be alright….

    • This is the one for putting screws in.

This is full price. Not a sale and it's 10mm not 13mm

    • Surely this isn't full price considering it has a battery and charger?

      • It's full price I'm in Bunnings right now. These are made to a price point now. $45 full whack.

        $99 is 13mm and $199 for Ryobi.

        • +4

OK so RRP and no discount = not technically a bargain

          • +1

@King Tightarse: Yes, this deal doesn't belong on OZbargain.

    • Disappointed. I went to Bunnings twice to look for this. Found plenty on the shelf the second time (restocked?), but then because I didn't see an orange tag on it, I didn't buy it. So yep, normal price, buy it any time.

  • its not clear. for average home diy, is this fine or need to get that $99 one (its for $129 without the deal)

    • will be fine for simple home use

      • +1

Not really…. very , very basic and no hammer, most will end up getting something better.

        • -1

take it from me, go with something better ,i have had many ozito products, not worth it even for this price…. the Ryobi ones suit the home warrior nicely, with way more tool options to use your battery with, bit more expensive but worth it for the 6yr warranty alone,,,,

  • +2

Thanks got one! I'm mostly using it to screw in Ikea furniture Kmart furniture screws lol. Once a year I may drill wood. It's a pretty good price considering an 8V Drill / Screwing kit would probably set you back $35.

  • Heaps at Port Melbourne

  • What does the 10mm refer to? What measurement? Thickness of attachments?

    • +1

Yes. This chuck can hold bits up to 10mm, most drills are 13mm. It means that any drill bit you need over 10mm you need to find with a reduced shank to fit the smaller chuck like this. Even then most bigger bits have a reduced shank to 12.5mm to fit a standard drill which would be useless for this anyway.

    • +1

      drill bit diameter

    • +1

Thanks Boys. Now I get it. I think I will stick to the common size.

  • +1

when i click on the link it just takes me to the Bunnings homepage ……

  • Where would I get a set of hex bits for this size. Or is it better to go with Kmart one. Any other options for me? It is to assemble beds and small furnitures for the house.

  • Can this be used as a screwdriver (like the one from IKEA)?

  • Which drill bits to buy with this?
