  • Thanks

Also does anyone know when the trade deal for Xbox one x level 4 $430 finishes?

    • 31st January

      • Thank you kind sir

    • +1

Wait so that deal where I get $350 is still valid?

      • +1

350 plus 5% for each level you are in the EB club. If you're the fabled level 5 then you'll get $437.5. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

      • yes but you need to have an preorder with them

        • Preorder? I thought you can just trade your Xbox one x in for store credit

          • @Twisty: you only get $260 if you dotn have a preorder, $350 if you do

            • @xcess: Really?

              I didn’t know that

              So if I preorder a $80 game will I then get $420?

              • +2

@Twisty: no you need to preorder a next gen console to be eligible

                • @xcess: I did pre order a ps5 which I already paid and picked up but I also traded in my other Xbox one x against that. Am I able to do two?

                  • @Twisty: yeah they let me trade in 3 consoles

                    • +1

@xcess: It's actually limited to 2 consoles. You got lucky

                      • @[Deactivated]: oh i had both series x and ps5 preordered so yeah I think its 2 per console

                        • @xcess: Just Wondering now since I’ve already paid and picked up my pre order if they will still let me trade

                          • @Twisty: In that case you can't get the higher trade in value. My local EB games allows any number of consoles (lucky me I guess) up to the full amount of the remaining balance on your pre order.

In my case, I managed to trade in three consoles towards my xbox series X which I have already picked up and even got the difference back in store credit. So this pre order is done, and no higher trade value thereafter.

I can still, however, trade towards my 2021 ps5 pre order, if I have any spare consoles lying around.

        • they are still taking trade ins. not sure its the higher prices if its towards a pre order but they have waived the 20% if you trade for cash. This was until End of December from Memory. Call the store to find out what the trade in is for cash. i asked about my scorpio and they offered $286 including the 10% as i'm level 2.

    • +3

I asked on Saturday about this and they said they aren't accepting any new trade-in's for the xbox one Series X and have no idea when they will offer it again.
Seems unlikely to happen before the 30th Jan end date though. Hopefully they extend the deal whenever they do reinstate pre-orders.

      • Damn it, so it’s a no it sounds like

    • Try to sell in private.

They offered 350 on my One X Gears 5 Limited edition with warranty, 2 controller, like new :(

I ended selling for the same price in private.
If you wait for EB and only God knows when they will have it with rumours pointing to April, you will lose the opportunity of making a decent money.

I also bought XSX in private over the price but no much choice.

      • The thing with EB trade ins is they don't give any additional benefits for limited/special edition consoles or things in new or close to new condition (I've traded in unopened stuff before… so wasteful of me). But if you're doing it for convenience then that's the price you pay.

        • yeah, that is why I went private even so I got the same price.
At least the dude got a decent like new console, 1y warranty worth $449.

    • Do you have a link to this?

  • -1

Do these happen to work on Switch?

    • +1

With the Mayflash Magic-NS adapter, yes.

      Otherwise, no.

  • +2

    Do these work on PC?

    • +1

Yes they do, but I prefer the ergonomics of the original one (not that you asked but thought I'd share anyway haha)

      • +2

Isn’t it almost the same controller? Could u expand on what u mean by ergonomics?

        • Yeah, they're almost identical in terms of design.
They have changed the length and texture of the triggers slightly though.
The new DPAD is great though.

          • +1

@lachhelix: Yeah new dpad is so much better although very clicky - but I’m used to the sound now.

I kinda prefer the new one controller overall, feels a bit more robust and I prefer the textures. Seems less fatigue for me.

            Each to their own tho!

    • +1

Just a word on PC; I got one for PC and when using wireless the two back triggers don't work. When you plug in they work fine so obviously something software or driver wise.

      I haven't found a solution yet.

      • +1

They are considered Throttles for LT and RT. they register 0-100 each (or 0.00 to 1.00) as a numeric value, which can be a problem if they're drifting between 0.2 or 0.4 at 'rest' or initialisation.

Try https://gamepad-tester.com/ or https://gamepadviewer.com/ and it should show you a debug / testing window which should help. you may need to change the setup.

I think the throtttles do tend to become unstuck or drift though, which requires calibration

        • +1

Great, I'll have a look, thanks. It is slightly disappointing that a Microsoft controller doesn't just work properly straight out of the box on windows.

      • +2

I'm using one here, and it works fine (triggers and all). I think you do need to make sure you're running the latest version of Windows 10 20H2. You might also want to grab the Xbox Accessories app and update firmware, etc.

        • Is the share button working for U guys on PC?

  • +15

Aren't the old Xbox One Controllers compatible with the new consoles?

Unless you have an old, nearly broken controller, why would you get one of these?

    • +1

      Agree with you.
I have both and prefer the original one, regretting buying the new one!

    • +1

Comes down to preference. The review sites I go on say functionally there is no difference but one of the reviewers has bigger hands and finds the new controller is a better shape.

I still prefer the 360 design to be honest.

      • Very true.
I find the triggers different, slightly shorter

    • +7

      Probably a few reasons:
      - If you have the pre 3.5mm/Bluetooth model
      - You want the share button
      - You want new warranty
      - You want a new colour
      - You don’t want a mix of micro USB and USB-C controllers and thus charging cables (assuming you use play and charge kits)

If you tick the first box above, or two or three others, it’s not a bad deal I guess. Given you can get these on Amazon new at around mid $80’s I guess it effectively values your old controller at about $35.

      • And considering EB sells Xbox One controllers for $74 pre-owned you would probably only got about $25 trading it in. So a $10 bonus for this deal, sounds about right.

Edit: actually trade value is a bit higher

  • +4

Thanks gonna get rid of my crusty one

  • Do these new controllers work on the one Xbox one?

    • Yes they do. The Xbox One controllers also work on the new consoles.

  • +6

Hope they do this for the dualsense ;)

  • +2

Can trade in xbox 360 controller too?

  • Will they take the OG Xbox one controller or just the Xbox one s or x ones?

    • +2

As long as it’s an official wireless Xbox One controller, they will take it.

XBOX CONTROLLER TRADE OFFER: Price per controller. One controller per trade. EB Trade Policy applies. Xbox One Controller refers to an official Microsoft wireless Xbox One Controller, must be in resalable condition.

  • If only I could get a hold of an Xbox Series X (at RRP) to play on with this controller :(

  • +1

Any idea on when this deal expires?

  • +1

Is this member-only deal and does it apply to every EB store?

  • -1

Any chance of replacement with xbox 360 controllers??

  • Is there a link to this promotion?

    • Keep an eye on their Twitter

  • Are these controllers still as bulky as the 360 ones? I liked that they fit my hand unlike the Playstation controller that was clearly designed for kids.

    • I think they’re a bit smaller, but marginally so. They still feel fairly similar to how they did back then with adjustments here and there.

      • See my reply below, please!

    • They're slightly smaller but the shape is much more comfortable and quality feels much better

      • Are you referring to the new one or the Xbox one controller?

        • From memory I believe the One is a bit smaller than the 360. The Series S|X is then a bit smaller than the One. It’s all fairly marginal but. The controls are all quite similar.

  • +3

It’s a good deal if you still have the launch controllers before Bluetooth and 3.5mm audio but otherwise I don’t see it as worthwhile.

    • Does it include the launch controllers? The non bluetooth with no 3.5mm audio?

      • Believe so as there’s no exclusion or differentiation as far as I know. I deliberately traded in my launch controller with my X1X recently.

      • +1

        Yes.

  • +1

I got $33 for trading in one before the bonus trade in period, these currently retail for $89 at big W. So it's a saving of around $7?

    • Afterpay $10 off on ebay, stack with ebay gift cards and its closer to $75. Could always keep spare controllers for some Moving Out craziness.

  • my controller has some serious drift issues.
do you think they would take it?

    • +1

      Shhh don't tell them

    • Same… It did say in a resaleable condition so I don't think so, but would they know?

I ended up buying a new controller though for $75 from the BF sales…

    • +1

Yes they will take it. They don't test them. They just make sure it's genuine and all in one piece. I traded in my old Xbox One X and they took it in without any testing

      • Can you click the T&C and get a weblink for it to share with us?

        • There is no link it's just a picture

      • Yeah I bought two from them when I got my X1, first the home button didn't work was half jammed in. Second was ok, it's a day 1 edition lol, the lb/rb are a little crap (original design rather than a flaw I think? They feel short?) Considering trading that back.. idk I only have 3 controllers maybe I should just get a new one to have 4 when needed

I did notice that the battery compartment covers on both of mine seemed to have been replaced and the warranty sticker had a hole in it so maybe they did some "refurb" idk

    • I fixed drift issues with my controllers using some rubbing alcohol and cotton wool.

Still rocking my elite controller, taken a beating over the years but still works. Wish they weren't so expensive.

    • +1

Same here… love my elite controller…. Cant justify a new one when my old one is still good. No loose grips or anything….. only wish I could get hold of decent thumbstick replacements.

      • +1

I had to change out the bumpers and my joysticks are a bit wonky (think I could fix that if it bothered me enough) but otherwise it feels really nice and I can't do without the trigger locks these days.

Whats wrong with your sticks? With mine they kinda "overshoot" when returning to neutral so if you push up in a game and then stop pushing you'll and up in a different direction. It's the worst thing with radial menus but otherwise a minor annoyance.

        • +1

Mine are just worn out… need replacing.. the rubber tops are smooth. No drifting as yet love the bottom four buttons for forza 4. Manual with clutch lol

  • +1

Does the new one work with the xbox wireless controller adapter for the PC?

    • Works fine on Windows 10 with the older Xbox One wireless adapter (not the 360 one)

  • +2

Wish they'd do the same for the DualSense!

    • Doubt it. Maybe $59 + DualShock 4 but considering how popular the PS5 is and how necessary the controller is, I doubt it. The DualSense is also $25 more expensive than the XSX controller.

      • +1

Yeah, my thoughts too. Hate that you need two controllers for ps to play continuously, as opposed to xbox controllers where only a battery change is needed.

        • Or you could use a power bank.

          • @sween64: Might as well used a wired controller, but that defeats the purpose of wireless, innit?

            • @sh4hp: Well you can have the powerbank with you on the couch so it’s more convenient than being connected to the console but yes less convenient than full wireless but less expensive than buying a second controller.

              • @sween64: That is true.

And I would say lot more inconvenient, especially when you are the type of gamer like me (I move my controller around a lot, feels like it give it that extra umph!)

  • I got one missing the rails on the back (both sides). Any one experienced trade in "damage" products?

  • hope they do this deal for the PS5 controller!

  • Dammit, I need an Xbox controller for MS streaming service. This would be great but I don't even have an old Xbox lol

  • Can you just trade in the controller for the bonus credit to use another day?

    • No. It's tied to the purchase.

  • Don’t think the new controllers work on iOS yet?

    • Coming soon… but honestly given the limited feature differences (ie share button) I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading for iOS use.

  • Anyone know if these will work with the Xbox One S? I assume so since the old ones work with the new system but not sure. I have a controller that doesn't work quite right (left joystick maxes out at about 10% speed when it's used to move a character). No plans to get the series X at this stage, but seems like not the worst option if it will work with the One S.

    • Yes they work on previous gen Xbox
