Ryzen 7 3700X | RTX 3070 Gaming PC [B450 Aorus/16GB 3200/650B]: $1688 + Delivery @ TechFast

3700X-3070-BFCM

This is our big one for BF/CM. AMD have supported us for a once off R7-3700X at R5-3600 price for this deal and Galax and Gigabyte have chipped in to bring us $200 under the PCPP comparison. Feel like it stacks up pretty well price-wise against the Dell 3070 system, with plenty of upgrade options available as always.

Ryzen 7 3700X / RTX 3070 8GB Gaming PC: $1688 after 3700X-3070-BFCM

  • Ryzen 7 3700X 8c/16t processor
  • Galax SG MSI Ventus 2X RTX 3070 8GB GPU (Gigabyte Eagle and Ventus upgrade available) - updated 28/11)
  • Gigabyte B450M Aorus Elite motherboard (lots of upgrades including MSI Pro-VDH WiFi and X570 Aorus Elite WiFi). If the Giga B450M sells out (loads available) the Biostar B550 is also the same price.
  • 16GB 3200MHz RAM (brand/model may vary)
  • 240GB 2.5" SSD (for those bringing own storage, or upgrades available; brand/model may vary)
  • Gigabyte P650B 650W 80 Plus Bronze PSU (750 Gold and 850 Gold available)
  • Lance-V RGB 4 Fan ATX case - details/specs

The below cover entry level, budget, sub-$1000, 1440P and high tier deals. If you have any other BFCM spec requests let me know and I'll see what we can do; RTX 3080, RX 6000 series and Zen 3 chips deals are not possible. RTX 2070/S and 2080/S are end of life too.

Other BFCM deals

Cheers
Luke

    Any 3090 builds?

    • Good question. CPU pairing would be the tricky part but I'll look into it.

      • That is fair, maybe a 3900/x?

        Thanks!

        • +2

5900x you mean? and ye if you're spending the money for a 3090, the only cpu that makes sense is the 5900x or maybe the 5950x

          • @Aequitas: True, I was thinking mainly for ML/AI purposes. I was under the impression that the CPU wouldn't add much performance if upgraded. However, for gaming, the CPU upgrade will lead to a decent improvement.

            • +2

@smashrax: If you’re using a 3090 then you’re most likely gaming at 4k, in which case the difference between a 3900 and 5900 is basically insignificant . You’re heavily GPU bound at that res . That said if you can afford a 3090 you can afford a 5900 so may as well

    • If you use windows 10 already you probably have a windows 10 copy attached to your MS account.

      • What does this mean?

        • +4

When people transferred to windows, MS attached the windows 10 copy to your MS account when you activated it (most likely). Go settings -> Update and security -> Activation and you can see if your windows copy is attached to your MS account.

          • @Flamexio: Thanks for that! My Win 10 was an upgrade from OEM Win 7, and I can see it's activated with a digital license, but it doesn't appear to be attached to my MS account. So I guess I should do that, and then I'd be able to move it to another PC?

            • +1

@kiitos: Yes (at least I'm 99% sure that's how your situation would work. I've never assigned a MS account to a windows copy, not for a long time anyway). I've done the reactivation process once with my new TechFast PC and I've watched my brother do it with a new mobo.

If the MS account is successfully attached to a windows copy it should say "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account"

When on your new PC, login with the MS account that has the windows copy. Go activation in settings again and click "activation troubleshooting" (something along those lines), it'll open up a new window and there's an option saying something like "I've changed hardware", after that you eventually come to a window with your old pc on it and you click that and say "this is the computer i'm using" and it'll swap windows over for you and activate it on the new PC.

Oh, you also need to make sure of whatever windows you actually have a license for. E.g. I had a windows pro but the Techfast build came with Windows Home. So I had to uninstall and reinstall windows pro so it would actually activate with my license (I think home works for most licenses but not pro licenses)

      • Windows license is locked to the mobo, not MS account?
Unless there is a way to transfer the license from one mobo to another?

        • You can transfer to another mobo. I've just done it on another TechFast PC that I bought. Login on your MS account that has the windows copy on it go to activation in settings and you can ask it to activate (then you have to go like activation troubleshooting on the screen that appears and click "I've changed hardware" eventually click enough times and you can say "I'm using the computer that had the windows copy previously"). Then it activates on your new PC.

But you need to have it say the windows copy is attached to the MS account in settings.

  • Hey Luke, I just missed out on the RTX 3080 deal you previously offered, have you got any plans for another similar deal anytime soon? Conscious of all the supply issues etc.

    • +4

The plan is definitely to offer a deal as soon as we can. When that is, is unclear.

      • Appreciate the reply, thanks mate!

  • +1

Damn this looks like a really good deal! I just bought the HP omen with the 2080ti for $1500, should I cancel?
Basically, an extra $188 for the 3070 which may last longer.

    link: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584755

    • +4

      Keep it. 2tb ssd storage.

    • +9

The HP also has 32GB ram, activated Windows and a 1TB SSD. I’d stick with the HP

    • +2

      Sell it to me man

    • +1

quite a few more differences than just the 2080ti vs 3070. That seems like a really good deal actually, I would go for the omen.

    • 2080 ti should be better in the long run than the 3070

      • -3

So a GPU that's slower will be better in the long run?

        • +8

          A 2080ti has similar performance to a 3070 with 11gb of vram

    • -2

This is what I was trying to tell others in that offer but got smashed by a few comments. This system will be faster and upgradeable in the future. So faster GPU, better CPU, faster RAM and the potential to upgrade to 5000 series later. It's a no brainer.

      • So the hp won't be upgradeable?

        • question is with that specs, when will your next upgrade be? i say bare minimum 5 years. for that life span (or even more) and $1,500, you probably better of getting brand new PC.

        • The upgrade path is nowhere near as good. You could potentially upgrade to the 5950x. Thats next gen whereas the Intel available has already been superseded by the 5800x. Plus the RAM is much faster and won't need to be also upgraded. Much better and cheaper upgrade.

    • Damn what a deal, grats to those who got a chance to snap that up! Stick with the Omen, couldn't go any wrong.

      • I tried grabbing that deal as soon as it is posted. Too bad Griffith email not supported

    • +6

what are you on about, man? you got the HP Omen with 2080ti for $1,500 and you still not happy? what you got is good, man!

    • +2

The omen is a crazy good deal. 2080Ti is basically 3070 with more vram with very slightly lower speed. It also comes with 2TB SSD, 32GB RAM and an OEM windows. You don't even need to upgrade anymore, maybe add a WiFi adapter, and that's it for the next 5-8 years depend on how much tech can change. You can even do VR with this system no problem.

    • (profanity) no dude. Check gumtree, people are reselling the Omens for $1,800.

    • I didn't have the student email, so couldn't get benefit of it. otherwise, I would have preferred the 2080ti at $1500, excellent deal.

    • omen is great deal, MB a bit outdated though. This deal is not bad, but for a decent build, you still need to fork out at least $2000

    • 2080ti is the same if not better than the 3070.

  • Just ordered one, reckon it'd be shipped by Cyberpunk 2077 release?

    • Thanks for your order! Being realistic for you shipping within 10 business days I would say is possible, but not probable.

      • Great to hear. Terrific deal you guys, keep up the good work!

  • Better than Dell if you can do something about the 250gb ssd…which is very useless at this price point.

    • Yeah, storage should be a 480gb ssd at minimum

    • +6

Yep, I reconfigured this deal to be similar to the Dell's (Wifi mobo, 1TB SSD + 2TB HDD, Windows 10 license, Mouse & Keyboard) and it comes out to be AUD $2,223.00 vs Dell's $1,999.20

      • +5

Thanks for this. I'll stick with the Dell I purchased yesterday, was beginning to have second thoughts after seeing this post!

  • Fantastic deal.

  • Hi Luke,
I had bought the previous deal with the 3500X and 5700XT https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/582696

I then upgraded it to 3700x and upgraded the mother board ,storage etc.
Now i am very close to the present deal price and would like to go for it instead.

Can i cancel the previous order and go for this build?

    • PMd

    • +1

I went for that deal but upgraded CPU to r3600 and mobo to msi b450m

      Total cost $1246

3700x is basically the same as 3600 in performance. So I figure $450 extra to upgrade 5700xt to 3070 is not really worth it for me. Up to you though

  • +5

Really regretting paying $1300 for just a 3070 recently. Hah.

    • +5

      How high were you

      • +1

It's the going price for the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 OC, but still.

  • +1

I wonder if there would be an upgrade option to Ryzen 7 5800X?

    • you can keep this and wait for zen3 price drop

  • This or the dell from yesterday?

    • This. Cos the Dell deal is no more.

      • Should have a few to order after cancellations

      • The Dell deal is back on with 100 more.

    • +3

IMO, this deal is better as you can customize it later.

  • Getting my tax done on Saturday…. heres hoping I'm rich enough.

    • Got me a $2 refund this year. Best of luck

      • +1

        Holding my breath…
Then theres the 'bring your utility bills' to claim for working from home.. that should get me another $1

        • +1

          Gainz is gainz

  • +1

Im thinking about going through with this deal but this will be my first PC so I just wanted to hear from others which of the upgrade options if any i should consider getting along with it. Im looking to play warzone on high detail if that helps. Thanks!

    • +1

The only thing you need to upgrade from this deal would be the SSD as warzone already takes over 150GB. You could add your own SSD or HDD which would be cheaper if you buy yourself. Other than that, the system should be fine.

      • If only for WZ, you only need around 75GB now (you can remove COD campaign and multiplayer stuff)

    • +1

The base specs will be able to run Warzone no problem, but you'll 100% want to add additional storage given Warzone'll gobble up 70% of your whole drive space when fully installed. Using Techfast's upgrade options to beef up the storage is definitely going to be less value than acquiring the additional components yourself, but if you're totally uncomfortable with DIYing them than I'd suggest upping the 240GB SSD to either of the 1TB options.

    • cheers guys!

  • Hey Luke, I also got on the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X | RX 5700 XT 8GB deal a week ago. I also upgraded the CPU to 7 3700x and a few other things. If possible I would also like to cancel my previous build and go for this order instead.

    • My order number was TF118312631 if that helps!

      • I will take your 5700XT if they could sort it out. but I bet i would have to fully cancel my order and then reorder. not efficient.

    • Call them dude!!

  • this does not include windows license right?

    • That's right - Windows 10 Home Edition is preinstalled but not activated unless you select the key from us. You can use one from elsewhere receiving it unactivated.

      • is windows 10 Pro an option without the key - have one here.

    • +1

Windows 10 Home is installed, not activated. Everything will run fine, but you will not be able to personalise the settings and there will be a small activate windows watermark on the bottom right of screen.

  • +5

You really need to provide case options on all these deals. I would never buy a PC in that hideous case.

    • +3

each to their own… but that case is so much better than the other dell… lmao

      • +1

I don't have an issue with the layout or airflow, just not a fan of "gamer" design aesthetics. The front panel is too fancy for me.

        • I don't think I've seen my case in a couple years. I don't get people putting them on display, waste of space for my setup anyway

          • @SgtBatten: Well why design them with tacky gamer designs and multicolour leds if the intention was for it to not be seen. In any case, don't "put it on display", but I also don't hide it in a cupboard or something. Terrible idea for airflow and cooling in most cases.

  • If only 5600X :-(

    • +1

There is absolutely no way you will see a 3070 and 5600x at this price this year. The 3070 is around 1000 and CPU is around 500. Throw in all the other parts needed and your well over the 1700 mark.

      • +1

Why not, 3700x and 5600x are similar in price

  • Hi Guys, I never had an AMD set up, I mainly do Adobe Creative Suite like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, After Effects and some 3d with Sketch Up, but most important I play Fortnite with my 9 and 6 year old every so often lol.

So I would use more for creative/web work orientated. I would go to 32 GB Ram, B550 MB and 1TB SSD. Comes just under 2k ( see here) https://nimb.ws/713mZk .

I was considering the Dell from yesterday.

    This set up would OK.

    Thanks for your input guys!

    • This is way better. Buy the extra ram and SSDs yourself.

      • Thanks for the tip…assume this set up is OK for creatives also?

  • Omen deal smashes this

  • Luke, SSD Upgrade: 240GB 2.5" to 1TB m.2 [NVMe] Solid State Drive $159.00; what brand of SSD is this? Crucial P1, Crucial MX500, Kingston A2000?

    • It can vary but you've listed the main ones we've used in the past few months, plus Lexar.
