In the stirring, highly anticipated first volume of his presidential memoirs, Barack Obama tells the story of his improbable odyssey from young man searching for his identity to leader of the free world, describing in strikingly personal detail both his political education and the landmark moments of the first term of his historic presidency-a time of dramatic transformation and turmoil.

Obama takes readers on a compelling journey from his earliest political aspirations to the pivotal Iowa caucus victory that demonstrated the power of grassroots activism to the watershed night of November 4, 2008, when he was elected 44th president of the United States, becoming the first African American to hold the nation's highest office.

Reflecting on the presidency, he offers a unique and thoughtful exploration of both the awesome reach and the limits of presidential power, as well as singular insights into the dynamics of U.S. partisan politics and international diplomacy. Obama brings readers inside the Oval Office and the White House Situation Room, and to Moscow, Cairo, Beijing, and points beyond. We are privy to his thoughts as he assembles his cabinet, wrestles with a global financial crisis, takes the measure of Vladimir Putin, overcomes seemingly insurmountable odds to secure passage of the Affordable Care Act, clashes with generals about U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, tackles Wall Street reform, responds to the devastating Deepwater Horizon blowout, and authorizes Operation Neptune's Spear, which leads to the death of Osama bin Laden.

A Promised Land is extraordinarily intimate and introspective-the story of one man's bet with history, the faith of a community organizer tested on the world stage. Obama is candid about the balancing act of running for office as a Black American, bearing the expectations of a generation buoyed by messages of "hope and change," and meeting the moral challenges of high-stakes decision-making. He is frank about the forces that opposed him at home and abroad, open about how living in the White House affected his wife and daughters, and unafraid to reveal self-doubt and disappointment. Yet he never wavers from his belief that inside the great, ongoing American experiment, progress is always possible.

This beautifully written and powerful book captures Barack Obama's conviction that democracy is not a gift from on high but something founded on empathy and common understanding and built together, day by day.

It was provided, you ignored it

Actually it wasn't, so that's a lie. If it was provided once, you'll have no problem providing it again. Post you function of CO2 emissions to Average Global Temperature here:

Signing up to the Paris agreement on climate was Obama’s greatest achievement which the scientifically illiterate orangutan undid. Oops, I forgot. You conservatives believe in 2000 year old fairytales & not that science rubbish

                                    Conservatives deny science.

You may then grasp the gravity of anthropogenic global warming & why the Paris agreement is more important than, say, 10.5% yearly economic growth

Fact - Just before COVID - the unemployment was at its lowest in the last 50 years
Fact - COVID effected all economies, some even worse, no matter which government, president, your favourite or not.

Just out of interest, how much more than $20T in national debt do you reckon the orangutan can rack up & dump on future generations before he’s carried out on January 20?

Actually it was a combination of Clinton and Bush. Look up the repeal of Glass Steagall that Clinton signed off on.
But this doesn't absolve Obama of laziest economic recovery since WW2. Trump improved on Obama's metrics in every area. Covid put spanner in the works, prior to that Trump had the US economy humming.

                        • @1st-Amendment: No Trump’s conspiracy filled brain & scientific illiteracy tanked the economy in 2020

                          Just a quick search and:
                          https://www.bbc.com/news/world-45827430
                          which states:
“… the Obama administration added more jobs to the economy, comparing similar time-frames. Under Trump, in the three years prior to the pandemic, there were an additional 6.4 million jobs. In the last three years under Obama, seven million jobs were added….”

                          Like shelling peas.

                      @1st-Amendment: https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/politics/elections/20…
Trump said he'd eliminate the debt… in Obama's eight years the debt went up 8 trillion. In Trumps four years it went up 7 trillion. So he was racking up debt at almost twice the speed.

        • +3

Hey, who cares about. He can drop bombs and tank the economy as long as he's well spoken!! !!1111111 derrp

          • +3

@BankstownMoeyDW: It seems that most people's measure for competent policy is "does he speaks well". Speak well = good, speak poorly = bad.
If you speak well they will fawn over you and not even question you for ordering the murder of your own citizens. Weak minds are easily lead…

        • +3

That is why he will always be remembered as the worst president in US history.
Trump will be remembered as the most disliked.

Affordable Care Act, quaintly known as ObamaCare. Trump’s attempt to replace/scrap it “Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated”

        • +2

To demonstrate what intellectual dolts conservative voters are, roughly 30% of them don’t know that Obamacare & the Affordable Care Act are the same thing

      • This is hilarious.
I wonder how many of the 58+ votes and 15- votes think my comment was meant to be COMPLIMENTARY towards Obama, and how many thought it was CRITICAL of him.
Because I meant that Obama considers his own country beneath him and has little but disdain for most of its inhabitants.

          • +2

@TEER3X: The DHS also said this election was "The most secure in American history" when the MSM has being crying about election interference from Russia for like 4 years. How does that work?

            • +9

@baskinghobo: the allegation was russia was using propaganda, not vote tampering. Just how ignorant are you?

              • @mycosys: Exactly. Secure should mean safe from anything that may affect the integrity of the election, not just system security. Would you call Iron Mountain the most secure datacenter in the world because nobody can hack into their systems if they gave people access to their data through a name and DOB, something that can be easily socially engineered? And no need to start with the name calling when I haven't said a single thing to you.

              • @mycosys: So you don't consider election interference a part of election security?

              • @mycosys: Funny though, they spent years slinging mud at Trump and spend 10's of millions of dollars to find NOTHING. Now Trump wants his due process and everyone is going bananas.I doubt Trump is going to get anywhere with his accusations but would you REALLY be that shocked if there was election fraud in this day and age? C'mon now.

            • @baskinghobo: Show me the investigation they carried out to come to that conclusion.

          • +3

@TEER3X: Remember when the current president among thousands of others declared they had proof he was not only not an American citizen, but somehow a plant by Al Queda?

      • +4

He did, apparently better than all the other dementia patients.

      • If Biden is going to be running the country, that test must be pretty easy. Guy has dementia ffs.

        • +1

You can’t tell the difference between speech impediments & dementia?

          • +1

@Boogerman: Was that supposed to be a witty burn? If so, that was beyond lame, lol. I never said a thing about his speech impediment, nor would I ever associate that with dementia, that was all YOU buddy. Just how bad is your TDS that you actually get personally offended and appear to support someone with dementia and who you would never EVER leave a kid alone with. Speaks volumes.

            • @[Deactivated]: LOL. The orangutan can’t even tell the difference between an IQ test & dementia test

              • +1

@Boogerman: Dude, chill. Trump is quick as a whip. Biden can't even remember his own name at times.
lol, wtf? You're comparing molesting children with a doting dad? Bit messed up.

                • @[Deactivated]: Wow, you set the bar low for quick
Also, you need to hear the recorded words out of Trump’s mouth about Ivanka
Maybe he wishes to grab her by the pu$$y too

                  • @Boogerman: I’ve heard them. Maybe if there were another dozen sound bites like there are of Biden freaking kids and women out then I would say ok that doesn’t add up.

                    • @[Deactivated]: What’s Trump’s pending lawsuit tally up to now by women alleging sexual assault?

        • Have you heard Trump speak? Every time he opens his mouth he spews dribble. The man can’t form a coherent sentence.

          • +1

@smartazz104: I’ve watched hours of Trump speaking. If you watch the edited versions of the MSM puts up you’d have a bad opinion of him. Watch one of his speeches from top to bottom - careful, it may cure your TDS.

            • @[Deactivated]: More expert/insightful analysis of the simplistic & childish way the orangutan speaks, which only impresses on simpletons

Ron Perlman really extracts the urine!

              • @Boogerman: That was midly amusing. You want to see some hilarious videos, look up this guy called 'Joe Biden'…. warning, you may want to advoid the videos involving kids.

                • @[Deactivated]: Joe isn’t a real man’s man. Real men like the obese orangutan walk in unannounced on women in various states of undress & grab ‘em by the pu$$y. Even teenagers. A bit like Trump endorsed Republican Roy Moore, although he starts before they’re teens

                  • +1

@Boogerman: I know you’re not dumb enough to take the (profanity) grabbing remark literally, are you? In case you are, basically what he was saying is thots will do anything for men with money…. shocking isn’t it? At least the old Don can be trusted around kids and remembers simple things like his wife or his name hahaha. If you want to tell yourself that a socialist pedo with dementia who will bend the knee to countries like China is better than a guy who is just an arrogant wankfest but actually gets shit done then good for you. • +17

          Is that you Sidney powell?

        • +20

          Alright, this is complete bs.

          To sum it up

          1. Those were frozen assets belonging to Iran, doesn't matter if Shah was the ruler at the time, it is still their money. The 1.7 billion was because there was a bill passed many years ago, it had certain requirements that needed to be fulfilled in order to make this transfer legal and the Obama administration did just that, it is still Iran's money not the US.

          2. The iran deal was great, it used Iran's own money to influence them to heavily reduce the amount of Uranium enriched + you get regular checks from the UN and there was a short expiry date on the deal, so you could hopefully make better terms in the future as the relationship between the two countries got better.

          3. You want to talk about Treason? Article talks about Carter being at fault for making Islamic state of Iran, but 0 mention about how Reagan and his team did behind the scenes deals with the Iranians and made it so they didn't release those American hostages until day 1 of the Reagan administration.

The point is that your article has an extremely clear bias and seems to have very little to no facts to back up any of their claims. That is why it is a conspiracy theory and not considered legitimate at all
