Don’t forget to treat yourself this Christmas with savings on your internet bills - Exetel is to introduce yet another amazing ADSL2+ offer the ‘OT-5’ plan valued at a mere $4.50 per month with 10GB download allowance, currently available to new customers only. Exetel’s cheapest plan yet and possibly the cheapest in the ADSL2+ market.

Don’t forget Exetel’s attractive OT-10 and OF-10 ADSL2+ plans via the Optus network, valued at $9.50 and $19.50 respectively with a 20GB download allowance. This plan is ideal for the light user. Exetel also offers the OT-500 and OF-500 valued at $39.50 and $49.50 respectively, with 1000GB download allowance. Perfect for heavy internet users who constantly worry about going over their download allowance!

Line Rental is also cheaper than Telstra at only $20

If you sign up to Exetel using a recommender’s number you will receive 2 months internet for FREE on a 12 month contract. The recommender receives a once of $100.00 referral credit.

Plans this deal applies to are Optus ADSL2+ plan (i.e. famous OT or OF plans): http://www.exetel.com.au/a_plan_pricing_adsl2_new.php
I think the best value is OT-100 which is $29.50 for 200GB.

Existing Exetel residential customers who refer a friend/family member on to a Exetel’s Telstra ADSL1/2+, AAPT ADSL2+, Telstra Fibre or NBN Fibre service will receive $30.00 towards their next bill as a referral incentive when the new service has become active.

If you would like to sign up to these special offers my recommender link is below:

When ordering a new service from Exetel, all you have to do is to insert a current Exetel Customer’s service number in the 'Recommender Number' field on the bottom of the order form. If you don’t have any friend or family member who is Exetel current customer, you are welcome to insert my number 0431188322 for both of us to enjoy this promotion.

  • This is like referral links imo, shouldn't be here.
    More suited to the forums.

    • +1

Yep and nicely written out advert for Exetel!

    • +1

It just doesn't sit right when an OP gains from posting a 'deal' to others. I understand why the OP is doing it (win-win, right?), but not true to the OzBargain spirit, methinks.

  • +6

Exetel's sevice is fine. But I simple can not enjoy their arrogance and the way they treat customers.

    • +2

So their service isn't okay - but the product offered isn't too bad? But yeah if you have any line (data) issues expect a long round of frustrating communication with the staff in Sri Lanka (no fault of theirs).

  • Nice phone number OP.

    • +10

      Aw, it's turned off. :(

  • Off Peak Downloads
    1am - 9am

but I don't see anything as to whether or not uploads are billed :(

    • +2

if you click 'view' next to the plan, it should show "All uploads are not charged"

    • +2

      Uploads are not billed.
I've been using exetel since 2004.

      • and still with them? I've been with them for 15 months and that was too long to bear all those price increase, admin fee etc.

    • +1

woah 1-9am. im with exetel atm and i get 4am-4pm…

      • got an older deal, 200GB no off/on peak :>

  • +3

So… exactly the same as you posted 2 months ago:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54141 ?

Hell, it must have worked, people must have used you as a ref. Getting basically free internet out of this?

    • +1

fail poster & fail isp with a fail business plan
was with them a while back and they cut me off with the reason that I "was not a profitable customer", but wouldn't explain how i was unprofitable!

      • +1

That's ridiculous!! I would imagine you used up your quota every month, and they just want to force you to move elsewhere.

      • I hope you complained to TIO…???

If not then, why not NOW? (& Seek reimbursement for the cost of switching to another ISP)

PS I guess it's GOOD that Farmers & Electrical Utilities CAN'T withhold their product & services
. eg, when big supermarkets' price wars make sales of milk less than profitable (Of course,
the power companies don't really have that problem… we see electricity cost rising often!)

Heard recently on ABC Radio National's Bush Telegraph:

        "Don't complain about Farmers,
        . …with your mouth full."

        :-)

  • +3

I think it's a pretty good deal.. $20 line rental, $40 setup.. 12month only, cheap plans

    • -2

i gave a + just to even out the score.
i'd still be researching over on whirlpool, reading the fineprint etc.
(i thought those tpg $18 phone plans where good.. until i was on one. you get what you pay for i suppose.)

      • Care to ellaborate on the bad side of the TPG plan (somewhere)?

        • just thought i could live without making 1300 or 1800 calls (or getting charged $1/min to make these calls) But having to search for 'if dialing from overseas' numbers.. or email companies and hope they'll call back.. was just not worth it. I think I accidently called a 1300 number once.. it was a $30 charge very quickly. (i realise this charge probably comes down from optus??)

Along with their port-out fee and other little things.. tpg mobile left a sour taste.

Apparently mid next year the government is regulating that phone companies won't be able to charge excessively for 1300/1800 number use, so I wouldn't rule out using tpg in the future.. i suppose.

  • +3

    referral spam

  • It is a bargain in the true sense and deserves to be listed here.
Been a long time Exetel user and find every aspect of the company to be excellent.
The don't tolerate customers that are a "problem" though… :-)

  • +3

If the buyer MUST pay for a line (ie, rather than get ADSL2+ over a NAKED connection like others do),
then ADD LINE-COST into cost, & CHANGE TITLE.

  • Bias alert(?)

Mod seems friendly to this poster and/or ISP

Mod should have removed the referral part of link (ie, the switched-Off tel.no.?),
to make this deal fit the OzBargain rules.

Disclosure: My recent (non-referral) deal submission "$150-$2,500 Grants for young would-be pilots" was HIDDEN for hour, ie, until I worked out how to ask "Where? - & Why - moved?" rather than a friendly suggestion that I make any necessary changes.

    • +2

I did remove the referral link from the main link, and added bold Referral Link text next to the actual link in the body.

Moreover, the OP is currently banned if you have noticed, due to potential sockpuppeting issue. Still under investigation.

  • u got $100 referral right? and me?
" If you don’t have any friend or family member who is Exetel current customer, you are welcome to insert my number 0431188322 for both of us to enjoy this promotion."

    • i think you get two months free internet (i take it this doesn't include line rental)

      • +1

if the op willing to share that $50, that will be nice :)

        • +1

Im with exetel as well and willing to split 50-50.
          Agent Code is: LITE1723
Send us a pm if you use it with the name you signed up with and I'll contact you when it gets deposited in my account for your bank details so I can send you 50%.
The bonus credit usually gets deposited a few days into a new month.

This applies for anyone that is interested, you will just need to send my you name you signed up with in the pm.

        • If you want the 50-50 split send me a pm first, I need to give you some more info before you use the code.

        • sorry mate, i stick with tpg, after they waive my $79 transfer fee to their phone bundle

  • come on tpg. don't be stingy, other player already have download allowance 200gb for $30 plan and you still 50 gb allowance!!!

    • +1

TPG? Really? I pay $60 including line rental and have unlimited… If you can't get a good plan in your area then don't go with them, simple really.

      • currently my home phone with telstra budget and tpg $30, only got 50 GB allowance. if i want bundle with tpg, i have to disconnect everything and waiting for 20 business days off for new connection, the main issue with me, my area got limited port, and tpg can not guarantee that they can keep my port. once i disconnect, telstra might connect this port to anyone else. the only way only fast churn with one provider.

so my monthly phone and internet cost is $52 with 50 gb download allowance
if i transfer to them, it only cost me $50/month and my download allowance increase to be 200 GB

  • +2

Spam + a good phone number to put into sites you don't want to put yours haha

  • Been with Exetel a long time and never had a problem. I would recommend them to my mother. My only gripe is that all their great deals lately are Optus deals and there is no Optus at my country exchange.

  • +2

Was badly burned by exetel with increasing (!) cost plan changes over time. Not coming back.

  • +1

I wouldn't be that keen to publish my mobile phone number on the internet, even if I was hoping to get a ton of referral credit.

Which this poster won't get from me.

  • OT-5 $24.50 including line rental would have to be the cheapest adsl2+ atm…what's the catch? How does exetel make any profit on this especially after paying $100 referral and 2mths free?
I'm tempted to switch from mynetfone naked adsl2+ also on optus cos exetel is $10 cheaper and you get a full service phone line and shaped to 1mbps instead of 256kbps.

    • +2

If you pirate stuff, don't bother. They're the "please MPAA, let us help you punish these fuckers" ISP. Like the opposite of iiNet.

      • Your ISP iiNet just signed up to a deal similar to that which Exetel uses.
        http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/telcos-volunteer-to-help-police-piracy-20111127-1o1hc.html

p.s. I have been an Exetel ADSL customer for 6+ years and haven't had any real problems. Only major problems have been when neighbours move houses, and stupid Telstra/Optus technicians accidentally/deliberately disconnect my phone line and reconnect it wrong.

        • I'm not with iiNet. I'm with Exetel. I'm just reasonably well informed and thought others would like to know.

iiNet have made it pretty clear they're not going to give those making legal threats against their clients personal information. The deal you linked doesn't impact that.

Exetel have made it clear that the second Australia starts prosecuting, they will hand over their customers details in a heartbeat and assist those making legal threats find more people to prosecute.

        • "stupid Telstra/Optus technicians accidentally/deliberately disconnect my phone line and reconnect it wrong"

I've also been with exetel since 2006 with no problems whatsoever & believe it or not the above has happened to me twice this yr & the RIM is right in front of my house! Sooooo damn annoying having to call telstra up to fix it when it was the careless technician that caused it….

        • iiNet "just signed up" to nothing. They, along with a few others, put out a discussion paper. To be discussed. iiNet are, in fact, currently in a court battle with AFACT because they refused to pass on warning notices or hand out customer information.

          http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/11/28/alliance_opens_copyr…

NB: I'm not with iiNet. I'm with TPG.

    • did you read footnotes?

      • +1

I'm not sure what you are referring to? Care to elaborate.

        • ^ Please note that the customer referral incentive scheme does not apply to the OT-5 plan.

    • just in case you didn't pick it: I think OT5 shapes to 256/64 or something… gotta go OT10+ for 1024 shaping

      • Thanks I did pick up on that…I think OT-10 is what I'm after.

  • +1

Hi. I am interested in the OT-10. Will you give me cash back if I sign with your referral as you will be receiving $100 as referral

  • Referral Spam. WTH?

  • if someone wants to post a different referral code, i'd be willing to spread the love should I go with this deal.

(the idea is, that I assume most of the -ve are because of the referral spam, so if another exetel ozbargainer was to pm me their code, i'd be willing to use that.. perhaps more 'the way of ozbargain'?)

    • referral code sent :)

      • got it and will let you know if i use it (and will do some screen capturing =)

the only roadblock is getting my sharehouse to come on board.
everyone has mobile internet and phone these days.
but these deals seems cheap so gonna raise the idea again.
hopefully we are in an ellible area.

  • Is there perhaps a double-standard on the similar deals? This deal is similar to:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52830

You guys may give too many neg to the current deal; it would be nice if ozbargainers could possibly keep everything consistent with the responses to the similar deals? :)

    • Hi b2bbay.. what do u mean in your PM? please elaborate

  • Hi. I am interested in applying for the one of the extel plans. I am happy to use one of the referral codes. Pls send me your referral code if you are willling to reimburse me $50 if I apply using your code. (to cover the $40 activation charge)

    • -1

      that's a fine idea..
but remember you get two months free internet.
so you if you go on the $30/month plan you save $60.
so in that case you should get $20 to make it fair (you both benefit $80).

      • pls note that only internet is free for two month and not the landline. so if i go for OT-10. then I get $10 x 2 =$20 worth of free value. I think its fair to ask for 50% =$50 of referral credit. If anybody happy to share the 50% referral credit with me then pls PM and I will use theircode to apply. thnx

        • ok, but even then you benefit $70 to their $50 = )

        • +1

sent you an pm ozdick, if anyone else is interested in a 50-50 split just send me a pm and i will send my referral code.

        • I think the $100 referral credit is once off only so the referrer can only get it once regardless of how many customers use their code.

    • +1

I think the activation charge is $40 if you already have an active phone line and $69 if you don't.

    • anyone else interested in 50:50 split for referral also interested

      • Anyone who needs a referral code: I'll do a 55:45 split in your favour if you use my referral code. email [email protected] if interested

        • so u get 45 ?

        • yes you get $55

        • sorry mate, it seems my phone under aapt network, so the bonus only $30, it seems not worthed for me to transfer over to exetel

  • +1

If you go for the OT-100 then I think Mynetfone offers a better deal…you get free wifi modem and free setup.

    • can u tell me why is better? both of them got 200 GB, and same price, one give free modem and the other give u fee 2 month access.

      • Mynetfone gives you a free modem (NB6PLUS4WN about $120) and free setup
Exetel gives you 2 months free ($60) but you have to pay setup cost ($40/$69)

        • exetel you still can get share referral fee $50 from other member

  • i decided stick with tpg, after they waive my connection fee $80 for transferring my standalone adsl2+ to their bundle package.
