Android Market's "10 Days of Offers", A New Set of 10 Apps Each Day For A$0.10 Each

7480

Updated the title and description, since it is a new set of apps each day for 10 days, not 10 apps for 10 days, as stated in the Android Dev Blog: http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/12/10-billion-an…
Thanks to the people who pointed it out!

This promo is to celebrate Android Market reaching 10 Billion of Downloads! All for just 10 cents each!

Remember to not purchase all the apps at one go. Keep at least a few minutes between each purchase to avoid having them pending / cancelled. If you are having such problem, just click refund in the Market app and purchase again!

I will update this post every day! For now:

Frequently Asked Question

Q: It's the first time I made purchase on Android Market and I got charged $2 for "PENDING — GOOGLE CHECKOUT INTERNET"!!!

See "Authorisations" section on Google Checkout Help. This is normal for the first time purchasers, and you will get the amount back between 1-14 business days, depending on your bank.

  • Great find. Bravo dude.

Fellow OzB/Mods - is there anyway to have a shortlist of deals from this site? It is not reminder, as i want to keep running deals in a list and check them out any time?

    • +1

Subscribe to Ozbargain in Google Reader and just star or tag the deals you want.

      • Haha - already subscribed - but didn't think about star! Thanks!

    • +1

@stevarja — not at the moment but we did have some plans for members to add deals into their own lists. At the pace we are going they might get implemented next year :P

For now you might use your voted deals to track what deals you were interested in before.

      • Thanks for the answer. Good to know at least 'list' is in the schedule.

The problem with your suggestion is sometimes I don't/haven't vote (yet) due to few reasons (time/delay/suspicious/uncertainty/etc).

As mentioned before star system in G-Reader works great because i don't have to give vote (either +/-) to a deal.

really annoying, anyone else getting their order declined if they purchase in quick successsion? I'm pretty sure its commbank's security measure on my mastercard or something but usually if they thiought it was suspicious, I would've got a call by now..

    • Yep. Commbank Mastercard. They told me to wait a few minutes before making another transaction of the same amount.

      • ah right, good to hear I'm not the only one I guess, but now since I did click too hastily from the last purchase and now for the last few hours I can't get AirSync, it never allows the order …I guess I'll try again later tonight - anyone know what it usually costs?

        • Same. Bought 3, then 4th was declined.

        • Airsync should have been the first one to buy. I have DoubleTwist and got it the instant it came out for 10c

        • Just click on refund then buy again. Works for me!

        • sweet, don't know why but the market via the phone let met me refund and actually get AirSync, I can sleep easy tonight haha!

  • +4

Can the mods add this to the front page like the slurpie deal?

    • +3

+1 make it a sticky for the next 10 days.

    • +2

Yep, too good to be missed

  • Apologies if this has been previously answered, but can I make a purchase, and not download the app? Will it sit there waiting to install until I do decide to install? I'm assuming it will as it's tied to my gmail account.

reason being, I don't have room for all of them, will have to wait till I upgrade my phone! :(

    • +1

You can simply uninstall it once it is installed. The purchase is bound to you google email account, not your device.

      • Note that you cannot uninstall it from the market in the first 15 minutes without refunding said application.

    • +1

If your phone is full, the purchase will go through fine and then the installation will fail. It will remain listed at the bottom of the list in the "My Apps" section of the market app, and you can install it again at any time.

  • I tried to buy "Great Little War Game" yesterday and it initially was fine. But then this morning I got an email saying my transaction had been cancelled!

And now the game is back at $2.88…

    That sucks!

    • Happened to me for Sketchbook Mobile too.

I just went and saw that it was still 10 cents, clicked it and purchased.

Purchase confirmation for $1.99 came through to my account. WTF?!

      • Uh…

        Now Fieldrunners HD got cancelled!

That was bought yesterday at like 11am.

What the hell is going on?

        I'm using a 28 Degrees Mastercard.

        • Ok now I'm worried that my purchases will somehow be cancelled.
I used an ANZ Visa card and none of the purchases have showed up online yet. Should be fine right?

        • I had issues with 28 Degrees Mastercard, rang them up and asked what is their problem, as they authorised the $2 google pre-auth check but not a sale amount of 10 cents?!!!

So they had to do some manual thing to allow payments to go thru and I had to wait 24 hours, so lucky I had a different card to use.

    • I had the same thing happen with Paper Camera. Bought it yesterday, and got an email at around 12:30 this morning, saying it had been cancelled because "We could not complete your order in a timely fashion. Your order has been automatically canceled. Please retry your purchase."

Bugger that, not paying $1.99 for it now. Oh well :(

  • What's the difference between this paid version Fruit Ninja and the free version?
Also, there is a THD version. It's confusing.

I installed Android Revolution ROM with Sense3.0 on Desire HD.
Beautiful Widgets look quite similar to Sense3.0. Does it worth the 10 cents?

    • If you have sense 3.0… then maybe beautiful widgets is not useful to you.
Fruit Ninja - the free version probably has ads. If you like Fruit Ninja, might as well pay the developer 10 cents. Honestly, 10 cents is pretty much like free. I don't like Fruit Ninja… but I bought it anyway (children like the game).

    • +3

Jeepers! If you're quibbling over 10c you truly are a tightarse!
I've bought all of the apps I think I'm ever likely to use even just once!

      • +2

You find quite a few ultra-tightasses on here mate!

    • Pretty sure THD is for Tegra devices.
It's the most complete version of Fruit Ninja on android so far if you compare it to the apple version.

The normal and free Fruit Ninja are practically the same except one has ads and one doesn't. They are also missing a lot of features (eg multiplayer) if compared to THD.

      Hope that helps.

  • Fantastic! I missed day 1 but won't miss any others;-)

    Thanks dudes!

  • Anyone know when it starts and finish during the day. AUS time???

  • +1

The way this is going, may be it will hit 1,000 votes.

  • damn…missed out day 1…

  • Hi, When I made purchase using my debit card yesterday, I got charge a $2 for "GOOGLE CHECKOUT INTERNET , 1207". Any idea what is this? Will this be repeated for every purchase? Isn't it suppose to be 10cents? Now I ended up paying $2.10 for the app.

    • Think it's been posted before, that's just a 'deposit' of kinds to check if your card is legit. Should be refunded after a week or so.

      • I see. Thanks for the prompt reply. Will start getting these new apps now. :)

        • In some cases its just a pre-auth, and doesn't actually go from Pending to Complete.

  • Day 2 is awesome since most of those apps on offer I've bought already!
Special mention to beautiful widgets and fruit ninja!

  • +1

go 1000 + vote!! beat that telstra deal!

    • which tel deal got over 1000?

      • +1

free calls to Japan during the disaster in Dec/Jan IIRC

  • +1

Lots of people asking how to purchase things without a needed device - change your build.prop as seen here http://androidforums.com/spica-all-things-root/98024-protect… to some modern phone.

Don't email or message me if you screw something up

    • And if you're running a custom ROM, you'll need an LCD density of 160 or 240 for it to work. Anything between that, and it will come up as incompatible no matter what changes you make to the build.prop file. Mine was 167, and I couldn't download any apps. Changed to 160, and boom, it works :)

  • Sorry about that- it was part of yesterday's deal but for some reason its still showing up as $.10 on my phone. Apologies!

  • Bought all the apps.. great find.. thanks

  • Today I bought:
Reckless Racing (Should I get the PLAY version as well?)
    Beautiful Widgets
    Flick Golf
    Christmas HD

<3 Android $1.30 spent so far.

    • PLAY is optimized for Xperia play.

      • I think PLAY is landscape and HD version

        • The normal one is landscape too. I'm pretty sure PLAY is purely for Xperia Play after doing some homework on it.

        • @Strand0410 then its HD version and optimized for Xperia, here is from description:
"HD version. Improved ingame visuals - high performance device required!"
          "* Xperia PLAY optimized *"

  • I'm getting a whole lot of order cancellations for my purchases made yesterday.

    Hello [REDACT],

Your order has been canceled and you have not been charged.

    Reason: Other (describe below)

Comments: We could not complete your order in a timely fashion. Your order has been automatically canceled. Please retry your purchase.

Order date: December 7, 2011 12:59:40 AM PST
    Google Order Number: [REDACT]

When I go to my market page I no longer have the apps :(

This is pretty crap because I can no longer buy them. Anybody else had this experience?

    • Yep. Read my comment above.

I'm getting the exact same error! :@

    • Did you buy them in quick succession? Perhaps your bank does not allow charges from the same merchant with the same amount in short timeframes.

    • If you go to your Market Account page (https://market.android.com/account) were the transactions marked as "Complete", "Pending" or something else?

      • marked as Cancelled

    • I reported a problem on the transaction page of my account and Google were kind enough to credit me with the applications!

You have received this mandatory email service announcement to update you about important changes to your Android Market account.

  • Paid fruit ninja is not updated with the free one, Airsync and Read It Later are definitely worth it. But at 10c just buy them all!

  • +1

Thanks for posting. What a great deal. First time I purchased a paid app. I used my 20 Degrees Mastercard and didnt have a problem at all installing the apps one after the other. Great find, cant wait for tomorrow!!

  • +2

Great deal and a massive win for Google,
They get tons of more download to add to thier stats but more importantly get tons of credit cards added to the system making it easier for first time buyers to buy again.

  • does anyone have problems downloading the extra data that the gameloft games need to use? i have an a500 and it shipped with nfs-shift and lets golf. also bought brick breaker and it just does not downlaod the extra 20mb-400mb needed to play…

    • +1

i have a500 as well and shift did not require additional data. let's golf downloaded fine (stock)

I am just curious, how is this related to this thread?

      • not related but asking the question. thanks for the reply

        • no probs. I bought reckless racing and sent it to my tab.

I will check it when i get home and let you know if i have any issues.

  • Just bought airsync, should be hella useful to keep my music library updated.

  • Is there a way to show only all the apps in the market that cost 10c in a list?

Do I have to buy apps more than once if I want them on my DTC Desire and my two Optus MyTabs?

    • +1

Click the "10 days of Offers" banner that appears on the market homepage.

    • +1

If they are all connected to the same google account you should only need to purchase them once.

If you have a older version of market, you can look on the market.android.com website and click the banner.

    • Clicking the "10 days of Offers" banner shows the 10 for today. I was looking for a list of ALL 10c apps. Not sure it can be done!

      • Well technically they are all the 10c apps because the prices change daily and a different set of 10 apps are 10c at any one time (although there was a bit of an overlap at midnight).

If you are looking for a history of which apps were 10c (but would have gone up) the original post for this deal is likely to be updated! If you are looking for what will be 10c in the future, no one knows that - I guess the idea is to keep you visiting the market daily!

  • Does anyone know what the difference between "Reckless Racing" and "Reckless Racing PLAY" is?

    • +1

      Play = HD (high res)
      other = normal res

      • Thanks! I've bought both. One for my usual phone and one for my REALLY old one which is used as an iPod Touch/Home theatre remote.

        • Have you installed them yet? I want to know how much is the difference in MB between the 2 versions when it comes to downloading the data.

      • Are you sire on this? Does it say it somewhere? I thought the play was optimized for xperia play only

        • The play version works on my HTC so I guess not

  • Damn, I only grabbed Minecraft yesterday and missed out on the rest. I didn't realise that the sale was one day only.

    • +1

Why'd you only buy one at a time anyway? Were you trying to save up to buy the next one the next day?

I'm sorry, I'm at work, and trying to entertain myself. It worked, don't think it'll entertain anyone else though.

  • damn wish i knew about this yesterday, would have loved to have got soundhound for 10c. oh well thanks for posting, just got flickgolf for 10c

  • +1

we should be allowed to vote mroe than once, this is great

    • +2

If we could, I would vote for this 10 times… A new vote for each day! :P

  • -4

Is there any way at all of hiding these android deals from off the homepage when I'm signed in?

I hid a similar deal from market.android.com the other day, the checkbox remains checked and yet the deals still appear…

Yeah I know I'm gonna get downvotes, but it's not like I've negged the deal or anything. I'm just asking a question.

    • Yes the Hide from Listing function does not appear to work on Highlighted deals. We'll try to get this fixed before the 10 days is up :)

      • just figured that out ;) thanks scotty!

    • If you have "android.com" in your block list, it should not show up on your highlighted deals now.

  • +1

So each daily deal seems to be 3-4 somewhat decent deals with a couple of good games and maybe one good productivity/lifestyle app, one 'fun' app and the rest being very questionable.

I still don't know what Christmas HD is. Read It Later is rather useless once your phone is updated to ICS, and the default browser allows offline viewing, Beautiful Widgets isn't particularly useful if you have ICS or any sort of skin and Google's own Sky Map seems to be better than Sky Chart.

    • why is Read it later useless when the upgrade to ICS comes out (heard my acer iconia a501 will be supported to this new software next time)?

      • Never heard of ICS but I'm not whinging about these deals. I agree that not all of the apps are going to be your fancy but this is a good thing because it stops me buying too many. There is a nice range of novelty, children's, productivity and assorted gaming apps on offer.

      • The default ICS (4.0) browser has an option to save web pages for later offline viewing anyway, so you won't need a third party app to do this.

        • I just noticed that. So many amazing new features promised. However, will most current handsets be supported? I have an Acer liquid metal running 2.3. So I can just jump to 4.0?

  • Oh my god! $0.10! I can't believe I didn't see this on the first day, I would have loved soundhound, minecraft and little war game!!! day two isn't so good (maybe i'll get fruit ninja and stuff, but that's about it).

I've never bought an android app before, I've got my iphone itunes store working so I can buy apps, but does android work similarly? Do I have to link up a credit card to my google email account, since I believe that's what I used when setting up my Acer Iconia A501 Tablet to access the market originally??

Also, does anyone knwo what happens once I Purchase these apps? Do they remain open for download if i ever reset my tablet and what not? Or can it only download once and if I Lose the app that's it? (itunse you can backup your purchased apps).

And is there any way to see if these 10 apps are offered for my tablet? I noticed that not all android apps show up in my market store on the tablet (someone told me that although it's android, not all android devices can see all android apps in the market?)

Sorry for the many questions - android newbie in the house!

    • +2

Once purchased they're your forever… Including updates.
They're linked to your account not your device, in fact you can sign up multiple device4s with the same account and install them on multiple devices from the one purchase. I have done this on 3 different (and simultaneous use) handsets.
The tablet compatible apps will also be available for your tablet (without extra purchase)

      • Are you sure on this? I thought this was the case this morning but when I purchased Reckless Racing, I had to tell it where to send it to and I decided to give it to my tablet, Acer A500.

If what you are saying is correct, then I should be able to go to the marked from my phone HTC DHD and be able to install it? When I go, I see two buttons there. Purchased and Refund.

I am afraid if I press the Purchased button then I won't be able to install on my tablet.

Can someone please confirm that the purchase is linked to the account and not the device?

I know this is how it works from the Amazon app store, but since I never purchased anything from the market, I have no previous experience with this.

        • +1

If you press 'Puchased', it comes up with a box asking if you want to send it to ANOTHER device, and then a dropdown box to select the device you'd like to send it to this time. Like scubacoles said, they're linked to your gmail account, not the device you first install it on.

  • should I then do it from the device I opted to send it to during the purchasing process or I can press it from the secondary device?

Do you know if I could later install it on a third device?

If this is correct, then all I have to do is to sign in with my google account on any other device and should be able to install it? sounds too good if this is true

    • +2

its too good and its true

    • You can do it from either device, or even from your computer, just as long as you're signed into the market with the gmail account you used to buy the app.

Yes, as long as your gmail account is the same on both devices, it will work.

    • It works similar to the iOS App store. I guess the rationale is that you wouldn't simply let other people use your account because that's also giving them access to your email.

  • +2

I have bought heaps of these apps.. don't know if I will ever use them

    • here's a true Oz bargainer !
