Price dropping because s21 will be released in one month

  • Good price. 1 month till N21 released.

    • note 21???

      • Well… it's a hybrid. :P But yeah… my bad.

    • How long until N7 armour release
I am headed to the Andromeda next month

  • Is this the cheapest it has been?

    • +1

No, it's $699 for the 5g model if you go into a Samsung studio.

      • +2

use $50 off newsletter signup code to get it at $696.85 delivered

        • If you haven't used it already ;-)

  • +1

same price at the education store! use $50 off code to get it at $696.85

  • +1

Hmmm tempting. But sounds like base s21 will be the next s20 fe equivalent? 1080P screen, plastic body and cheaper than the s20.

    • 1080p screen on the s21? Wtf. Should at least be 1440p

Edit: nvm I misread your comment

  • Hope it will affect the price of OnePlus 8T as well.

    • +1

I am also searching for OnePlus 8T EU/UK version (that has B28). But can only find Chinese version with Global ROM. Let me know if someone finds a good price for EU/UK version. Tks

      • Band 28 is overrated and may be only relevant to Telstra which I will never use. I am happy to use Chinese version as long as there is a good deal.

        • If you are happy with Chinese version, this is the lowest I can find for 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB models with free delivery in 5-6 business days. You can use code CART3 to take another 3% off:

          • @usmanhafeez2000: It is a good price, thanks, but tobydeals often get very bad feedback. Take a note that under specifications it does have the B28 (700 Mhz) which should not be right for the Chinese version. Also, with discounted ebay gift cards it brings the lowest ebay prices to around that mark, if not lower.

            • @Musiclover: I have good experience with Tobydeals so far. As for B28, they copy generic specifications for all version so one can't trust specifications.
Can you share any ebay link with good price that I may use with discounted cards?

              • @usmanhafeez2000: They are all about the same pricing on ebay. Lots of grey import. Hard to tell which versions are them but I am guessing all Chinese? I have asked some sellers. Full prices are around $850… Will be good price if ebay will run any sitewide promotions as they used to before (about 2-3 years ago)…

                • @Musiclover: ebay doesn't do that any more. Even if they do, sellers jack the prices up and you end up paying the full price even after discount.

                  • @usmanhafeez2000: Even without the sitewide promotion: $850 - 19% (that is, if you are lucky to get extra 10% off for ebay cards at woolies or bigw plus zip pay Saturdays) equals $688 that is if we are not getting any reductions of the full price. Plus don't forget that little 1-2% cashback on ebay. So, roughly same price as samsung. If tomorrow Samsung will become significantly cheaper that oneplus I wouild have to live with it's slower charging.

                    • @Musiclover: But remember, if you want to use VoLTE or 5G, those don't work on any OnePlus phones (Chinese or International models) in Australia after Android 11 update. Please read the comments from people in this forum:

                      https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/9485zln9?p=45#r882

                      • @usmanhafeez2000: 65W charge is a fantastic benefit but maybe it is not worth it with grey imports available only and no proper bands etc support of OnePlus… Maybe I will change my mind to Samsung. :)

                        • @Musiclover: Yes, I am currently using S20 FE 5G 256GB/8GB and quite happy with it. Bought it for $900 on launch from Samsung Education Portal. Currently its on offer for $729.35 at Samsung Education Store. Very good price considering AU model including Wireless charging.

    This or a Pixel 5?

    • +2

Bought pixel 5 a month ago, loving it :)
      I think I'm done with Samsung's…

      • I'm the opposite. I owned a Nexus 5, 5X, Pixel 2 and 3 then got a FE 5G. My last Samsung was S3. Samsung have improved.

        • Same. Nexus 5, Pixel 1 and then a 3. Now a FE 5G. The only thing I miss is finger print scanner and squeeze to activate Google assistant.

    • +2

Need a good Pixel 5 deal tho

    • In my opinion, Pixel 5 is inferior in almost every way and way more expensive.
I would only take the pixel 5 if I wanted better camera and smaller phone.
S20 FE 5G has a faster chip (snapdragon 865 vs pixels 7*** something), 120 hz display (vs pixels 90 hz), under display finger print (vs pixels rear finger print).

      • +3

I'm not a fan of the under display fingerprint sensor on the Samsung and would much prefer a rear one. Part of the problem is that it just doesn't work very well but I also find rear sensors much more convenient - with those I'd have my phone unlocked before I'd even got it out of my pocket.

        • When its sitting on a desk or table you can unlock without picking it up tho.

Each has their pros and cons.

    • I'd personally pick the Pixel 5, it just works. I've got a friend with an FE that has touchscreen issues and it just doesn't operate as quick as it should. Stock Android and 765G is better than 865 and Samsung One UI imo. I'm of the strong belief the Pixel 5 will last a lot longer too, going by all of the past Pixel's. Samsung's software and performance experience deteriorates after 1-2 years.

    • +3

I changed from pixel 4 to S20FE a few weeks ago. Really regretting not getting pixel 5 now. Just hate how samsung changes the pure google experience.

      • Eek sorry to hear, try and take it back and swap? Or sell on marketplace and buy the Pixel 5.

    • Currently on an S8 and just cracked the screen (right after black Friday!), been tossing up these two as well. Leaning towards the P5 atm, but need to wait for a deal - hoping boxing day comes through.

5G 256GB model with 8GB RAM also available on Education Portal in $729.35 with $50 sign up voucher. Better value.

    • +3

Have been watching this carefully on the Education Portal. Yesterday was $999 ($949 with newsletter discount). Almost pulled the trigger as it was out of stock 3 days ago but reappeared in the last 2 days.

Saved $220 just by waiting 1 day. Great deal!

  • Any discounts on the galaxy A range?

  • how long did it take for yáll to receive the newsletter voucher?

    • Less than 1hr for me

    • You can even chat to them and they'll issue it right away.

    • I used one of my old codes from August and it worked…

  • +1

Best part about the S20 FE 5G for me is the battery life. About 10-11 hours of SOT using the medium power saving setting.

    • It's seems it's highly variable though. I was getting 4-5 hours MAX with almost everything turned off and only 2-3 apps installed.

Would literally drop before my eyes

      • With medium power saving mode on? Could be an app that is draining the same battery, could check under battery usage to see which app is running in the background and using a high percentage of your battery.

        • This was after a factory reset with almost nothing installed

I did 2 factory resets due to the poor battery life and installed apps sparingly to test it out

The night before I returned it, I lost approx 10% overnight with airplane mode one

By comparison, my pixel 5 loses 1% with all apps loaded etc

          • @JDKC: Sounds like a defective unit. I use GSMArena's battery testing guide as a gauge when deciding to purchase a phone as I found it has been consistent with my own usage and this model also rates favourably in their tests.

            • +1

@orly: Potentially, however but but uncommon from other user reports.

It is a great phone on paper however real world use seems to vary a lot from user to use which is a shame. There were numerous things that just didn't work well imo. In my case it was the following:

              Poor battery
              Screen issues
              Pocket dialling
Hard to hear people when talking

All of these where complaints many others had as well

Don't think I'll ever go back to a Samsung tbh, ironically due to the hardware rather than software which is also a common complaint but I have no issues with
