  • Is this the new revision with BLE?

    • yes

      • Thanks, so the adapter is kind of unnecessary unless you’re on an older pc or something without bluetooth LE

Wouldn't the dongle have lower latency than a Bluetooth connection, especially if other peripherals are connected via BT to one's PC?

        • i wouldn't connect by bluetooth on pc, its unplayable on some games and tanks fps for some reason….true story

          • @botchie: Yea I bought a dongle for this reason. At times the controls becomes extremely laggy also

        • +1

BLE does have higher latency than the wirless dongle.

          • +2

@FabMan: in addition, bluetooth mode uses more battery

        • +1

I believe it'll let you plug a pair of headphones into the controller, so you can game wirelessly without waking the rest of the house.

        • -1

I use the DualSense controller on PC connected via Bluetooth.
I'd be the first to complain about any latency, but it's so good it's not an issue for me.

I'd imagine this controller would be the same.

          • +1

@Godric: yeah but its a bit better latency using the dongle and much better battery life.

          • -1

@Godric: DualSense is Bluetooth 5.1, the best of the best. Only get this if you must have the Xbox layout.

      BLE?

          thanks

            • @Buyingcrap: No need to be rude. Let's try to be respectful to all. Thanks.

            • -1

@Buyingcrap: I actually did google "xbox BLE" prior to making the comment and google wanted to correct me thinking I meant "box blue".

All of the top search results made no clear connection to Bluetooth Low Energy and lastly, I'm sure I'm not the only person not following what BLE was, the answer being posted here is helpful to all and if you already know then just skip past the comment.

              • @yacman: If you want to know what BLE, a better search phase is "what is BLE". Not surprised "Xbox BLE" didn't directly answer your question. It probably gave you a spec sheet or something without saying what it was.

    • How new is new?

  • Flog the dongle and you have a cheap Xbox Series controller.

  • Bought an $89 controller for my new series X and paid $30 yesterday for wireless adaptor!!!!!!

    • Terrible deal lol

  • +1

What is everyone using to charge this? The energizer plug and play kit had a different backing that does not clip into the new controller.

Also, I find the new controller shape a little smaller and more narrow at the top?

Hate to say it but I think MS got real complacent after being the better controller for so many years, PS really innovated this time around.

    • +1

Yeah, I noticed the same issue with the new controller not staying on like the old ones.
I personally don't mind that the new controllers don't bring anything revolutionary to the table. What I appreciate however is how the dpad is miles better than the old ones, at least in my experience. I even abandoned my elite controller for this one. That's how good I find the dpad.

      • +4

I thought everyone here had piles of Eneloops and IKEA LADDAs.

      • Great to hear. The Dpad on the old controller was in my opinion the only major downside. I found it actually hurt my thumb from using it in platformers. I'll be really happy to upgrade my main controller to this in time.

    • +1

Eneloops for the win. I need to buy some fresh batteries, been meaning to as my current batch are almost 6 years old and due to wear our soon.

  • Does the new wireless adapter have any advantages over the old one (besides the smaller form factor)?

    • BLE

      • What's BLE?

        • Bluetooth Low Energy, I asked above, it might have got lost due to the mod hiding one of the replies.

  • Can use this with Google TV?

  • -3

    I paid $75 for PS5 controller lol

    • +3

      Enjoy your symmetrical joysticks lol

    • +3

      Adapter is worth $20-$25

    • where can u get a ps5 controller for $75????

      • Used market?

    • Tiny hands confirmed

  • I wish white were available

  • I have the old version of the Xbox one controller. I can't find the genuine USB adapter anywhere :(

  • FYI, if you can order the xbox series from microsoft, you can add additional controller for 20% off, so contolroller for $72, or 90+ for both controller and adapter.

  • $89 at Computer Alliance

    • Older version

  • How much are the adaptors normally? Considering getting one but don't need another controller

    • +1

      ~$45 I think

    • +1

      $29.95 if memory serves.

  • Looks like there's a similar price on ebay
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Microsoft-Xbox-One-Wireless-Game…

    • That's the older Xbox One version, not the newer Xbox Series X/S.

  • is the point of the wireless adaptor only if you don't have a bluetooth connection in your PC? my PC has bluetooth built in so is the adaptor redundant?

i've kept a look out for a xbox wireless controller to use with PC but haven't seen much on sale!

    • +1

Yes. You might be surprised by how many devices don't have Bluetooth built in over the last decade

  • Bought xbox white wireless controller from tgg commercial for $72 for google tv.

  • I'm just wondering what kind of games are better to play with a controller vs a keyboard and mouse?

    • +1

Racing and platforming games, in my opinion.

  • how's the d-pad on these? MS have never gotten d-pads right.

The closest they got was XB1, but it's very clicky.
