Not available until late Jan, but for those of us sitting on a pile of black friday deals waiting for a new CPU/GPU to be a reasonable rate to complete the build this may be a good back up while the hunt continues.

  • Not quite the flash deal of $269 on 2020-11-27. But better than the price that's been asked for this processor for most of the year.

Buy $300 worth of Amazon gift cards for $270 using the Zip offer.

  • The R5 5600 should go for around $350.

    • Yup, and I'd imagine that launch will be at CES.

Those who need to buy now should look elsewhere or get a hold-over CPU for $100ish, otherwise you just wait for the 5600 launch.

MSRP some 18 months later is not a deal.

      • Will the 5600 be on par with the 3600 for gaming?

        • It'll likely be a marginally lower-clocked binning of the 5600X, so it will be much closer to that that (think 2-3% in most scenarios).

        • no way

        • At a guess, the 5600 should be around 10 to 15% faster.

      • I have all parts ready to go bar cpu and gpu(have old GPU or can make do with on board) do you have a link to a ~100$ cpu available now that will be compatible? I picked up this for my mobo .

          Athlon 3000G. It's a Zen-based processor.

      • When is CES? -> 11-14 Jan 21.

    • That sounds pretty unlikely given most stores are already selling the 3600 for $319-349.

    • It will be really difficult to buy at that price for sure. Worse than 5600X availability is basically guaranteed.

Current pricing situation made my decision to buy the Ryzen 3600 for $254 back in August during an Amazon sale looking like a genius move.

    • Yeah feeling pretty smug about buying one at launch, rare good timing on tech for me.

As long as you didn't get an X570..

      • +4

        What’s wrong with X570?

  • If anyone's really just looking to plug a hole in an AMD system while they wait for 5000 series ryzen parts to materialise, just get a 3500X from Aliexpress for about $180 shipped (less with first user coupons). I've been getting stuff shipped from aliexpress in less than a month these days.

  • Personally, I think I'd go for this if i was getting NVIDIA graphic card as S.A.M is not available for 3000 series.

Ryzen 3000 series will get SAM eventually. (or did you mean RTX 3000 series?)

It's crazy that these were consistently around $260 (got mine in the UK Amazon deal for even cheaper) and now even with the release of the next gen chips they are still above those old prices.. not really worth grabbing at the moment. Why not get the 3100 at half this price and then sell it later for the 5600 eventually?

    • +1

Yeh I can't believe I got mine for $245 all the way back in July!
