OZB22DEC

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday! We're offering all OzBargainers an exclusive $2 cashback bonus (strictly limited to one bonus per customer) when you make a purchase of $3 or more (excluding delivery fees and GST for international items) through eBay Australia today.

  • To qualify for this offer, you must first enter the code OZB22DEC (case sensitive) in the 'Earn More' section of the ShopBack app prior to purchase (go to Earn More tab at the bottom of the app screen, then "Code" in the top right hand corner).

  • Once you've redeemed the code, you can make your qualifying purchase on any device (not just the app).

  • If you have the app already installed on your phone/tablet, clicking on "Go To Deal" will open up the app and pre-fill the voucher code field for you. Just remember to tap on "Apply" to actually redeem the code.

You can also buy eBay eGift Cards (Via Swap Celebration or TCN: Online) through our gift card portal on the app with a side of 5% cashback. Then you can use these gift cards towards your purchase on eBay for this $2 bonus offer.

Note: The cashback bonus will not be credited into your account straight away. It will be credited separately into your ShopBack account by 26th February 2021.

Terms and Conditions:

  • This offer must be ‘claimed’ by redeeming the code OZB22DEC in the ShopBack app. This offer is valid until 22nd December 2020 11.59PM AEDT or until the maximum number of code redemptions have been reached (whichever occurs first).
  • To qualify for a $2 cashback bonus, you must then make one transaction ($3 minimum spend) from eBay Australia (eBay.com.au) through ShopBack between 12:00AM and 11:59PM AEDT on 22nd December 2020. Minimum spend does not include GST charged at checkout for international items, delivery and all other fees.
  • Limited to one bonus per customer.
  • The cashback bonus is in addition to the usual cashback you receive on eBay Australia purchases.
  • The cashback bonus will not be credited into your account straight away. It will be credited separately into your ShopBack account by 26th February 2021.
  • Standard eBay Australia cashback terms and conditions apply.
  • Your cashback and bonus will still be valid if you pay for your purchase using gift cards.
  • The use of coupon codes will not qualify you for the regular cashback nor the bonus.
  • Purchases of items excluded from cashback (for example gift cards, charity and non-profit items, eBay Plus membership, Cars, Bikes, Boats, Coins, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel) do not qualify you for the bonus.
  • Returned, exchanged and cancelled orders will void your eligibility for the bonus.
  • If your tracked cashback at eBay Australia is rejected, your bonus will be voided.

    • My bonus cashback was via the app, it "tracked" but they just keep the amount in pending (although the other amount is already confirmed).
The comment in Shopback is "Update your withdrawal details" .. what's that supposed to mean..

  • +6

So many negative votes and the store is STILL allowed to post on Ozbargain??
What is going to take to prove SB is dodgy and compromising privacy as well?

  • +1

If you take a video of your transaction showing that Shopback was used and successful does that guarantee you get it even if it doesn't track?

  • +3

Multiple recent $5 eBay challenges (Black Friday and Cyber Monday) failed to track and then disappeared. Pathetic!
Shopback is still posting fake 5 star reviews every hour.
Not to mention the poorly handled user data breach and their contempt for users.

    • Not sure about you but mine's not listed under click history. It shows under the Earn More -> Challenges tab when scrolling down as "Completed, Reward Pending"

      • +2

Mine disappeared from the Challenges tab in the app, due to the none of the Black Friday $5 and Cyber Monday $5 transactions tracking

        • Fobsessive are you able to PM me your account details so that we can take a look at it for you?

  • +3

    @gotyourback
Hi mate, I accepted two ebay and shopback $5 challenges and made the qualifying ebay purchases on 26th Nov but both purchases show "Calculating" and the challenges disappeared under the Challenges section instead of showing as Reward pending. Can you assist? Sent my details on PM.

  • Can someone please suggest something for $3 lol? And no, I've got enough charging cables.

I bought it in morning but no cashback tracked yet as of now

          I used ebay app
And that too clicked on shopback like 3 times before buying

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Pcs-Blind-Spot-Mirrors-50-mm-R…

It is 3.99 but reasonable i believe unless you wanna buy some cheap Chinese shit that takes like 3. Months to come

          • @USER DC: Thanks mate! Trying to look for a silver framed one hmm. Seems like only the ones from China are silver :/

Edit: seemed to have found one but it's $4.49

    So much hate for ShopBack!
I’ve had few problems tracking and all my rejected cashback cases have been reversed on enquiry. I tend to scout what I want to buy first, then click through and go straight to sale, so the click and purchase times are closely aligned.
I find tracking confirmation is lightning fast with CR these days, but SB have more and better deals. I also like that all the bonuses/challenges are listed in the app. With CR I have to check old OzB posts :/
Of course the data breach is a serious setback and SB have been pretty quiet about it, hoping we will forget…

    @shopback AU
Can you add TAKE10OFF as an eligible coupon?

  • +6

Almost nothing gets tracked. Also getting my phone and email spammed with scammers is awful.

  • +6

I'm wary about using the Shopback platform for this offer, as they recently rejected my claim for a large, capped cashback offer that I submitted manually after it didn't track. I was careful to take all steps (disable ad blockers, no use of unapproved promo code etc) to ensure the transaction was eligible, yet they rejected it with no reason given. It is unfortunate that there is no transparency around this process, and there is essentially no way to hold them to account.

I too am concerned with the data leak.
If hackers have your bank account details, what possible damage can they do?

  • +6

Over $50 was not tracked, dude

  • +8

i agree with everyone. Shopback is a scam at best. They dont give cashbacks where you would expect everything is straightforward. My Order ID 4296588641 for a Lenovo purchase failed on the cashback despite of me doing everything so clearly as per the instructions and still it failled. I would not waste my time for $2. This was a cashback of atleast $100 so I cared to put a request for review but again nothing happened. Such a BS experiene.

    • Hi corepda, did you want to PM me your account details so that we can take a look into it for you

      • +3

Why should I do that? Should you not talk to your colleague instead of making me spend another 5 min to do this? You have got the Order ID which I think means the details you are asking everyone. If it is more than Order ID then you need to be specific in your replies so that people dont waste their time in responding back and forth.

All of my BF clicks are in a "pending state". They are from the Amazon AU seller.
I have received all the items and payments have been taken out.
When will they be approved? Do we have to wait until the end of the A-to-z Guarantee period?

If it was my store, the Mods would have banned my store for a significant period based on no. of negative votes.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but why SB gets special treatment here?

40 negative votes so far and the comments confirm that they have dodgy practice.

    • If it was my store, the Mods would have banned my store for a significant period based on no. of negative votes.

Incorrect. Performance bans are automated by the system which you can read about in Posting Limits

Maximum 1 deal per 24 hours
Maximum 2 deals per 7 days is the default, however…
If the vote average across the recent rep deals is 0 or below, the domain is temporarily banned until the vote average is corrected over time.
If the vote average across the recent rep deals is between 0 and 3, the domain is temporarily banned for 2 weeks from the last post.
If the vote average across the recent rep deals is between 3 and 8, it is reduced to maximum 1 deal per week.
If the two most recent rep deals made the front page, the limit is increased to 3 deals per week.
If the three most recent rep deals get double the front page minimum votes or more (currently 60 votes), the limit is increased to 4 deals per week.
      Notes:

The posting limit is calculated using a rolling window down to the precision of seconds. For example if a representative posted at 4:45PM yesterday, they will not be able to post again until 4:45PM today (assuming the 1 per 24 hours limit applies).
'Recent deals' currently includes all representative deals from the past 30 days.
The vote average is calculated by taking the sum of (positive vote - negative vote) for each deal post, divided by the number of recent deals.
      Performance-Based Store Bans
A store will be banned if deals posted by representatives continually attract a low amount of votes. The system will ban a store if:

The 2 latest rep posts (excluding those posted before the last performance ban) are 60 days or less apart, and
The vote average for the store's rep posts over the last 90 days is less than or equal to 1
Note: the latest post will be allowed 24 hours to collect votes before vote averages are calculated.

Sep 2020: The algorithm may now exclude excessive voters from the performance ban calculation.

The store is temporarily banned from rep posts for 30 days from the time of the latest rep deal if the above conditions are met. Note that if a store has been banned twice, the third performance based ban is 1 year.

      • Hey neil, what are your thoughts on the rest of this shopback saga?

        • +3

People will eventually forget about the breach if we go by other stores histories. Re:

          • +4

@neil: I think the breach and subsequent attempt to cover it up might be somewhat normal for companies to do.

The annoying thing in this thread is that Shopback continue to ignore customer queries about the hack, even months after.

Then more relevant to this particular post, it seems a large amount of customers are experiencing their orders not tracking properly. And potentially Shopback are not paying out properly with promotions. And when people contact their support, they get nonsense answers for why their purchases don't meet requirements for tracking or promotions.

If this continues happening to a large extent or gets worse, I would personally like to see a disclaimer put on all Shopback submissions or if it gets worse than that, then a temporary ban on Shopback. That would be the best outcome for Ozb users. But as another commenter said, maybe OzB doesn't want to break the relationship with that brand. Although usually OzB doesn't really partner or receive kickbacks from brands anyway afaik.

            • +3

              @watwatwat:

But as another commenter said, maybe OzB doesn't want to break the relationship with that brand.

We have no relationship with any brand, shop, user, etc. We are an independent site. I'm a bit surprised that both you and OzDJ_, who have been OzBargainers for 10+ years each don't know that. Perhaps something we need to re-enforce in messaging going forward.

As Scott stated back in 2014:

We ban merchants for spamming, sockpuppeting, selling counterfeit items, etc. We don't "punish" merchants because of bad PR (failed to notify their customers immediately after breach). I don't see how it is a "victory" for anyone either.

It's a slippery slope when we start banning stores for "reasons":

And it goes on and on. How many of the above issues get mentioned anymore in deals for those stores? Very rarely.

So where do we draw the line? Well, it's up to you where you spend your money and you're free to choose where to do so. You are also free to express your issues with the stores as a warning in not only this deal about Shopback but any stores, and throw a vote there as well.

              • +1

@neil: I typically agree with the stance on allowing the community to decide.

But as everyone doesn't deep-dive in to comments, a one-line warning in the description area of submissions would allow OzB members to make an informed decision about using a site that may be dodgy. A store could enter a mode where they will have this disclaimer on all submissions for a 1 month period which gives them the ability to improve their behaviour in that time.

That would be nice. Otherwise I guess we'll just have to live with relying on downvotes. But I do think crappy stores with poor practices have it too easy on here.

Thanks for your opinion and your explanation.

          • +2

            @neil:

People will eventually forget about the breach if we go by other stores histories

I haven't purchase from COTD or Domino's since their respective data breaches.

What makes Shopback's conduct so egregious is how inept they seem to be in delivery of their core customer value proposition AND the apparent astroturfing of review sites with fake 5-star reviews to bolster overall ratings.

  • App is stuffed. Activated the code. After i press Tap Here, it goes to an ebay page, i press shop now button and nothing happens

  • I guess this is the last time ShopBack will be doing a deal for ozbargain……

  • Seems like Shopback now have PR issues. Please get this addressed.

I do have issues with eBay, which were not tracked recently.

I hope Shopback can explain why eBay were not tracked properly. How it happened and how to prevent the issue in the future?(Probably not partner with eBay?)

  • +5

I have no problems with things being tracked. My problem is that everything is sitting on "pending" from almost a year ago. How many years do I have to wait for it to get to "confirmed"? Will shopback still be around then?

  • +1

Why make us use the app? Why no desktop option?

    • +1

Only to redeem the code. Can use desktop to make purchase.

      • Ah i didn't realise… but still to install an app just to redeem a code is a bit much

  • +10

That’s an incredible number of negative votes for what should be a good deal. I think Shopback really needs to take a step back and evaluate how it conducts business, it’s tracking processes, and customer service. It’s a clear message from the community that It’s just not good enough.

It’s also disappointing that Shopback seems to only takes complaints seriously in a public forum. It’s a common amongst many business, protect your public image but ignore private complaints. It’s no longer about providing good service or even doing the honest/moral thing, it’s all about brand image. Unfortunately, crapping on customers can only be tolerated for so much before people boycott and turn on a business.

I personally think it’s great to have competition in the cash back segment but unfortunately Shopback has become substandard and has fallen behind its competitors. A shame really because at one stage Shopback was superior.

  • Mine so not tracked since like 1 am when bought

  • I tried a few times today (clicked on Go To Deal on this page straight to app) and each time got "Unexpected Error: Unacceptable status code"

  • +2

Purchased about 10 mins before deal ended (11:50pm). Tracked at 4am today

    • +1

Purchased around 2 hours 30 minutes before the deal ended (9:39pm), and didn't track yet.

    • +2

same purchased just before 12 midnight but only got email after 4 am today . will it qualify for the $3 cash back?

      • As long as the transaction was before 12 I'm sure it will

        • Got notification this one tracked.
Hope it also goes to approved, instead of pending ..

  • I have a similar experience. I ordered two items from Aliexpress from the last deal and one was tracked but the other wasn't tracked.
I claimed missing cashback then they asked me to send an invoice. I know if I order only one item my claim probably rejects (most of the time my missing claim rejects) but this time I ordered two items together and one already tracked so they could not reject my claim.

    • The other item might not be from an affiliated seller. It's what happened to me with CashRewards

They have an affiliated checker now for AE items

  • +1

My purchase was tracked successfully. However in the Rewards tab of Earn More it says that the bonus has expired.

Previous offers under Challenges show up as being completed. Can the rep clarify if this has gone through correctly?

  • +2

Transactions never track for me despite no adblocker and following the instructions. Have to claim missing cashback every single time. Transactions sit pending for months and often get declined for no reason. Haven't had any issues at all with their competitors.

  • +2

Still not tracked. First time an Ebay purchase has not tracked. To be expected!

  • Just to advise my missing cashback was resolved properly.

Here is the reason, for multiple orders, make sure you re-click through shopback every time before purchase. Otherwise only the 1st order will be tracked.

  • +3

This is what I am got after claim miss ebay cashback, don't waste time with shopback:

    Hi [email protected],

Thank you for submitting a missing Cashback claim.

We have checked your order and apologize that our team is unable to credit your rejected missing cashback to your account because your eBay Australia transaction for order ID 12-06287-34643 was not tracked accurately under our system which results in our team being unable to credit the Cashback to you.

There are quite a few reasons why these orders may not be attributed to ShopBack. This includes:
    1. If a user clicks on another chrome extension after clicking from ShopBack
    2. If other web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers are opened after clicking through ShopBack
    3. Clicking through to another page from a banner, pop-up, or advertisement on the store’s webpage whilst shopping
    4. Antivirus/Cleanup or Adblocker applications block or disrupt Cashback tracking (Tracking cookies are required to track transaction)

We want you to earn cashback on every transaction! We’ve listed some pro tips to follow when using a Cashback site:
    1. Don’t click on any other browser extensions such as Honey, Cashrewards or Qantas
    2. Start with an empty shopping cart before you click through to ShopBack
    3. Use an incognito window (This would prevent the storing of corrupted cookies)
    4. Only use discount/promo codes listed on ShopBack
    5. Do not purchase items under the exclusion list

ShopBack awards Cashback on your transactions on the basis that the merchant attributes your order to ShopBack and pays us a commission.

We hope these tips and tricks will help you in getting your next (and subsequent) Cashback tracked successfully. In the meantime, do let our team know if there is anything we can do to help or share our personal best advice on earning cashback. As shoppers ourselves, we are always happy to share!

    Regards,
    Team ShopBack

Same old non sense bulshit i agree dont waste time creating claim, just return using PayPal free returns

  • False add didn't track for me nor they accepted the claim.

I will be returning the item eith PayPal free returns.

Doesn't matter if item was only $4.

If i dont get to keep money nor does shopback from their false statement saying "cashback wasn't tracked"

    • For me they send this same old message and i email them again saying they haven't done their job properly.

And then someone suddenly changes the shopback tracking or something that they added my ebay purchase now somehow.

But i still recommend that if they dont do their job properly then return the item using PayPal free returns
