27145
OZB22DEC

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday! We're offering all OzBargainers an exclusive $2 cashback bonus (strictly limited to one bonus per customer) when you make a purchase of $3 or more (excluding delivery fees and GST for international items) through eBay Australia today.

  • To qualify for this offer, you must first enter the code OZB22DEC (case sensitive) in the 'Earn More' section of the ShopBack app prior to purchase (go to Earn More tab at the bottom of the app screen, then "Code" in the top right hand corner).

  • Once you've redeemed the code, you can make your qualifying purchase on any device (not just the app).

  • If you have the app already installed on your phone/tablet, clicking on "Go To Deal" will open up the app and pre-fill the voucher code field for you. Just remember to tap on "Apply" to actually redeem the code.

You can also buy eBay eGift Cards (Via Swap Celebration or TCN: Online) through our gift card portal on the app with a side of 5% cashback. Then you can use these gift cards towards your purchase on eBay for this $2 bonus offer.

Note: The cashback bonus will not be credited into your account straight away. It will be credited separately into your ShopBack account by 26th February 2021.

Terms and Conditions:

  • This offer must be ‘claimed’ by redeeming the code OZB22DEC in the ShopBack app. This offer is valid until 22nd December 2020 11.59PM AEDT or until the maximum number of code redemptions have been reached (whichever occurs first).
  • To qualify for a $2 cashback bonus, you must then make one transaction ($3 minimum spend) from eBay Australia (eBay.com.au) through ShopBack between 12:00AM and 11:59PM AEDT on 22nd December 2020. Minimum spend does not include GST charged at checkout for international items, delivery and all other fees.
  • Limited to one bonus per customer.
  • The cashback bonus is in addition to the usual cashback you receive on eBay Australia purchases.
  • The cashback bonus will not be credited into your account straight away. It will be credited separately into your ShopBack account by 26th February 2021.
  • Standard eBay Australia cashback terms and conditions apply.
  • Your cashback and bonus will still be valid if you pay for your purchase using gift cards.
  • The use of coupon codes will not qualify you for the regular cashback nor the bonus.
  • Purchases of items excluded from cashback (for example gift cards, charity and non-profit items, eBay Plus membership, Cars, Bikes, Boats, Coins, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel) do not qualify you for the bonus.
  • Returned, exchanged and cancelled orders will void your eligibility for the bonus.
  • If your tracked cashback at eBay Australia is rejected, your bonus will be voided.

Ok so it seems it pays to check. I have $20 declined last year. The order wasn’t cancelled, no gift cards were used and no discount codes. Looks like I’ll be submitting a dispute.

          • +2

@Slo20: Unfortunately, not likely to achieve much. You just funded one of the CEOs drinks that week =p

            • +1

@incipient: Update. Submitted dispute and provided all proof of transactions / receipts and they have now credited me the amount. I’m happy with how quick they actioned it. Obviously I’ll monitor my transactions more frequently now but happy with today’s service.

Got to give some praise here, at least this isn't a targeted offer as per what's regularly now coming from Cashrewards. So thanks Op.

*Ps - OP - Please don't do targeted offers. It's what made me come to Shopback.

As for lack of tracking from both companies - Need to flip this whole cashback thing on its head.

How about having an account (like a Revolut account) where users keep 'x' amount of funds. Then you guys can do a say '22% extra off' if buying through your portal. The price of the item is then instantly discounted and the funds taken from the users said account. Now if the owner cancels, returns an item etc, the 22% is automatically reversed from the users account back into yours (as per the T&Cs you would set up). The disclaimer would be the persons account balance equivalent would need to remain in full for the 60 days, or whatever time frame they have to seek refunds. Ie. if you are buying $125 booze with $25 discount you would need at least an extra $25 in your account (which then becomes frozen until the time frame is cleared). In essence, very similar to the current setup anyway where you need to wait a time period to receive your cashback, but at least there is no tracking issues, no arguments, the price is set upfront. The only way you get that price is if you have followed the T&Cs precisely. People know exactly what they are paying, and that's that.

The current mindset of many user is, I 'might' get some money back. Confidence in both SB and CB is poor. If the price is set in stone on checkout, I bet a LOT more people would put their hard earn down. To be honest, its currently its a crap shoot at best.

This also puts the onus back on you guys (SB/ CB or whoever) to 100% make sure the transaction is SECURED (otherwise, you lose out). Currently a software glitch, or communication problem behind the scenes, the ISP drops out….or whatever it is that causes transactions not to track (and there's heaps) is at the customers expense.

  • +6

Be careful with the store challenge. I have completed the store challenge previously. But until now still pending rewards. The challenge was finish on 31 July. Almost 5 months now. 😔🤞🏼

    • -1

Hey evo7, could you please PM the details of this?

    • +2

True, its unreliable to a point I have to set myself personal reminders to keep track of these claims which I hate doing.

    • +2

Just check my cashback history. All referrals still pending and fews cashback has been rejected (Dan Murphy’s Cashback got rejected) the wine has been gone long time ago and the bottle maybe been recycled but the cashback gone as well. We can’t keep tracking the old cashback. We trusted you to check our account. Maybe you can check our account and tell us why the cashback still pending and why some cashback has been rejected.

    • Same here!

  • +6

i'm also having better tracking, response and service, via CashRewards.
Shopback,…not as smooth an experience, but "OK".

( plus, i don't want to install this Shopback app either )

    • +1

Seems like a love-hate situation for both.
I honestly haven't had many problems with both. But then again I try and sift through all the technicalities to improve my chances of getting cashback… like reading T&Cs, using different browser so I can control extensions, etc.

      • +2

I’m going to go out and suggest this too. Never really had issues and got most of them tracked, if they track at $0 sometimes they get updated later because the $0 is just a temporary amount which isn’t fully updated later.

      • no matter how much that is 'within' your control,
you can't control the dispute resolution process,
and i have had to go through the Shopback support,
to realize what a drawn process it is and at the end,
i did not get my transaction tracked.

all these businesses are operating against tight margins,
and the support teams are getting smashed (i wonder if they are outsourced).

for me, CashRewards have really improved their service and tracking,
and that's why i actually enjoy using them.
i go to ShopBack, when the deal is actually a decent, e.g. 15% eBay cashback, etc.

  • +14

Are people seriously going through all these steps and using the crappy app just to save $2

  • +8

Literally none of the bonuses from Black Friday / Cyber Monday have tracked, why would I bother with this??

    • Hey mate, do you have an order ID/ticket number relating to the bonuses you can supply via PM to look into?

  • if you use $5 ebay credit code for late shipping to pay for an item will you still get this $3 bonus? btw when is the ebay plus $1 deals on today?

    • +1

      Gonna say probably not.

Gift cards are fine, other credits / coupons might not.

  • +18

Absolutely zero trust or faith in this company after how they handled the customer information leak.

Don't forget customers were not told until 8 days!! after Shopback discovered that customer data was compromised, discovered on 17th September sent out via email on 25th September, a Friday evening (mine was received at 10pm) to cause as little backlash as possible.

Name, address, DOB, Bank account details, all compromised.

    I will never return.

  • +17

Keep having untracked cashback so annoying starting to put me off using the app

    • +3

Likewise. Not worth the hassle. I've deleted my account already.

    • +7

Same here. UA didn’t track, sent the receipt and the response was sorry not tracked.

Cash rewards also didn’t t track but made an effort and got the cash back after a while.

I never received an email about the data breach. Came to know via ozbargain.

    • Hey mate would you mind sending through any order IDs/ticket numbers via PM so we can investigate?

  • +1

These types of deals are the best. Throughout the month, I would just think of anything I need between $1-5. Then when these deals come, I know exactly what to get

  • +9

It took 3 weeks and 20 emails to get the friend bonus referral. Then they paid the $5 out of so good well. Shame on you ShopBack.

The worst support team ever. Let alone the data leak and how it was handled and the lack of transparency about what was leaked.

I have been receiving a huge number of spam calls and emails since then.

  • +8

My first time on shopback they didn't pay me the bonus. I knew they were a dodgy company from the beginning. These days I stick with CR.

    • Hey there, could you please send through the details of the bonus (and the order you made) via PM?

  • I didn't know eBay eGift Cards have 5% cash back. Is that a new thing?

  • Good luck claiming this… Still have $35 pending from multiple transactions/shop challengers from months and months ago - everything is: pending pending pending / calculating calculating calculating

    • Hey mate, we can look into this further but it's likely we're just awaiting confirmation from the stores. Please feel free to send through any order IDs/ticket numbers via PM for me to look into?

  • Wow, lots of negative comments about ShopBack, but I’ve personally never had any issues with ShopBack and use it quite frequently. Keep up the good work SB

    • let's discuss the issues. Just providing some facts and get many negs is not a good community

  • +14

Too many issues with SB. Promo's with a higher than usual cashback magically don't track.
Investigating missing cashback claims get rejected after waiting in limbo for 2 months. Bonuses/challenges are a lottery aswell

    • Hey mate, do you have any order IDs/ticket numbers you can supply via PM to look into?

  • +3

I too have had too many issues with shopback

  • I have a question. I entered the voucher successfully but there is nothing showing on my Challenges page. I entered again and says already used. Am I still good to go? How do I know if it has expired or reached maximum uses? Maybe I’ll give it a miss this time.

    • +1

If you're in the app go to the tab called 'earn more'
Then at the top click on the 'rewards' tab… it should be showing now

    • That's very odd. All your details are showing up on the dark web.

  • +13

Lost over $500 in last few years. I wouldn't have made those purchase in absence of cashback. They always blame the retailer and you don't have any evidence if it's true.

The large amount cashback tracking is always an issue. I will stay away from them.

    • -5

Hey Ash-Say, would you mind sending through order IDs/ticket numbers via PM? We can look into this further for you

      • +6

There were over 2 dozens email exchanges on this matter across various timelines.

Sorry I am done with you.

    • Yes, this is true. Any amount that is "too high" gets rejected and the retailer is blamed. Happened with both of my Aliexpress transactions.

  • Has there been an email to inform the customer that their data has been hacked?

  • +4

Keep getting untracked cashbacks with SB, seems to be getting worse.

    • Hey mate, have you got any details I can look into? Order IDs/ Ticket Numbers? Feel free to PM!

  • For eBay, just be aware if you use gift card to pay, or if you use coupon/voucher code not listed on shopback, the cashback will be rejected.
Clear the shopping trolley before do the purchase.
And don't click the ebay promotions/suggestions, use the search bar.
Best to clear everything in the browser, disable extensions, disable adblock if any, then do the purchase

    • +1

I got tracked by paying the full amount with GC. Other code - not sure

      • That was lucky. Sometimes they are ok with GC.

But since it is stated to be like that, if use GC and no cashback, it is expected

        • +1

Where are you reading this again and what does it say? From CR or SB?

It says in OP you can use GC. It say in app Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method.

Why does it when I share my good experience, I'm considered lucky or an outlier, but when you and other people share their bad experience, that's the norm? I have my fair share of bad experience too, things didn't track for me at times. Maybe that was your deal?

          • @avoidfullprice: Any Purchases with the use of Voucher / Coupon / Promo code will result in cashback tracking at $0.00 (unless otherwise stated)

Are gift cards considered to be voucher?

            • +1

              @aboutconfig:

Are gift cards considered to be voucher?

              No.

  • +8

Missing cash back and selective customer service. Avoid.

    • Hey Dlw, do you have an order ID/ticket number you can supply via PM to look into?

  • +10

all these steps + App + wait time = possibly $2 saving (and possibly not)? Nah…

  • Thanks OP!

  • Got a $3 item.

    Cheers gotyourback!

  • +8

I haven't received any money back from previous purchases. Surely Shopback should be banned.

    • Hey minicat, do you have an order ID/ticket number you can supply via PM to look into?

      • Yep, Shopback should be banned. This post is full of complaints.

  • +10

Sorry, another negative vote for me. They somehow “didn’t track” my big ticket item purchases.

Bought $900 worth of stuff from Amazon on the BF special where it is 12% with no cap. SB said that didn’t track. I lodged the missing claim and they rejected the claim.

But I bought some other small (like $20) stuff from Amazon in the same sales window and it did track.

I found that these services are simply switch and bait if they cannot even track purchases properly.

    • Hey edisonAU could you please PM the Amazon claim details for me to look into?

      • +2

PM sent. Let's see if you can actually give me the cash back that I was entitled to.

    • +1

      Same happened with me.

    • +1

It happened to me too! My $300 purchased with 12% cashback during Black Friday was not tracked and rejected! The other small purchased on the same day were tracked!

  • +4

My bonuses from the Black Friday/Cyber Monday eBay Challenge offers & 15% eBay bonus cashback didn't track. Now the Challenges have mysteriously disappeared from my account

I'll be avoiding SB now, too risky and dodgy

    • Hey jw3411 could you please PM the details for me to look into?

      • +5

ShopBack is a very dodgy. The number of emails to get the $5 was astonishing. Very dodgy support that copy and paste scripts.

You should be ashamed from yourself and avoid posting on OzB or pretending to care as a rep. Because it obvious SB is a dodgy company.

        • +3

I forgot to mention that like other comments here, I also submitted missing cashback claim and SB's Debra replied that my transaction was ineligible, which is wrong as I took all steps to ensure my transaction would be eligible

    • +1

Me too, I had the same problem

  • +1

Hi Rep, please fix tracking issues with mobile app. Its not working properly.

My advice is to activate this with app and use a laptop/desktop instead for this offer.

  • Hi,

Just want to say my cashback from First Choice Liquor tracked yesterday with no issues.

  • +4

Spent over $400 on Amazon's last 12%, did everything correct. Made sure numerous times. Nothing tracked. The challenges also don't work.

I submitted queries but it seems they knew less than I did and point the finger else where.

Had multi of these $5 bonus cashbacks disappear in the past too.

  • +1

@gotyourback any explanation why shopback is not confirming the previous bonus deal?

"Congrats! You've qualified for your bonus and it has been added to your Pending Earnings. It will move to your Available Balance shortly after you:" "Update your withdrawal details"
The regular cashback $0.30 was confirmed/credited, the bonus $2 is pending … and it's totally unclear what to do (I've already withdrawn more than once, so don't see what the reason is why this can't be credited).

    Edit: proof

    • Because they are dodgy. With ours it said it required linking Bank account then it wanted us to wait 5 business days. Then they removed the entry completely from the website. Very dodgy business.

  • +4

Was super careful to EXACTLY follow the required steps (ad blocker off, activated on SB app first etc) before last eBay purchase but magically no tracking so no bonus.
Negging for problem with company - this magically does not work too often now - and specially with bonus money

  • +5

My eBay Cyber Money $5 Challenge, $5 challenge for purchase at any online store & 15% bonus cashback didn't track, despite me following all the correct steps.

Now the Challenges that I activated have disappeared from my SB account.

I'm going to boycott SB now, too dodgy

    • +1

Now the Challenges that I activated have disappeared from my SB account.

      Dang, they got you.

Maybe if you're lucky they will go and fix this for you for PR purposes and then everyone else affected gets nothing.

      • +2

I submitted a missing cashback claim, and Debra from SB replied and said that my transaction was ineligible, which is BS as I purchased from an eligible eBay category and didn't use any coupon codes

So it looks like SB isn't fixing it for me despite me submitting missing cashback claim

  • +2

My purchase for Cyber Monday $5 eBay bonus and Cyber Monday $5 any store bonus didn't track. Im not sure what happened but I received a response from Debra saying my transaction was ineligible. I bought an identical item the previous week that tracked without issues. SB hasn't consistently tracked for me.

  • +2

    200 upvotes for 2 dollars?

    • +3

      for maybe $2 ..

      • +7

        for unlikely $2 ..

  • +11

Shopback are a bunch of cheats. They don't pay up. When you enquire, they say the 30 days has passed so they won't investigate. Either that or 'not enough time' has passed so they won't investigate. I signed up with Mate Internet and never got my promised $20 even though it is in my click history and tracked. I didn't use VPN and switched ad blockers off.

Also I used them for all their various Ebay Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, but all still just say 'pending'.

Note that for their 'bonus cashback' like this one (which says: "The cashback bonus will not be credited into your account straight away. It will be credited separately into your ShopBack account by 26th February 2021"), you can't possibly get them to investigate within the required 30 days!!

When you make negative comments on a review site, they publicly say they will investigate, but they never do when they are no longer in public.

Stick with Cashrewards. At least they honour their promises.

    • +3

When you enquire, they say the 30 days has passed so they won't investigate.

Woah. Red flag. Most of the time they say they opposite to make you wait longer.

@gotyourback scammers, are you going to respond to this? Are you going to look in to why employees are telling customers they don't investigate cashback problems because the problem is from more than 30 days ago? What is your excuse for that?

  • +1

I got $1k tracked and confirmed from the ebay 10% CB deal. I'd guess my confirmed rate is around 80-90%.

  • +4

Reading all the other comments here, I also checked my history. I have one cashback with $2 bonus rejected back in 14 Aug. It was tracked, but rejected. There is no real reason why it can be rejected. Maybe the have an algorithm that randomises rejections based on the certain percentage.

  • +1

Yeah my Black Friday/Cyber Monday bonuses have not tracked too. I'm not negging but I'd like the person from shop back to explain why many people seem to have the same issue.

  • What can i buy for 3 bucks?

  • +5

only 1 out of 4 transaction was tracked for the 26 Nov amazon flashsale. I submitted the missing cashback and was told be Debra that I am not eligible. Very disappointed, SB needs to rectify otherwise such fradulent behavior will not be tolerent here.

    • Miata9 are you able to PM your details so that we can take a look at it for you?

      • sent. thanks for following up.

      • My issue has been properly resolved by SB.

Make sure you only place one order for each click through, SB will not be able to track following 2nd, 3rd orders.

  • +3

Dang shopback. You got a fiasco on your hands. How you going to win back the OzB community?

  • Well if one thing I’ve never seen notgotyourback so active on a SB thread trying to help .

Have your caught The Xmas Sprit m8 ?

    • +4

There is no prove of the actual help unless the troubled users report back that they have now received the cashback.

  • +3

With all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday bonus cashbacks missing, unless we get an explanation, I do feel Shopback should be suspended from ozbargain until the issue is resolved (Removed from cashback button/not able to post).

  • +4

2-3 years ago me and my friend bought a expensive Dell monitor. Did the exact same thing, bought it on the same computer. He ended up with 110 cashback and I got 60 something. Numerous emails later and they still couldn't explain why. And now my email keeps getting fked with which I assume is the data breach. (profanity) em

  • i find they track little bit better then cash rewards, just have to keep records and remember to chase them both up especially if its a large amount like the manrags fiasco, after a couple of emails finally got my $25 back. For tracking is it best to use the mobile shop back app which opens up the ebay up or desktop pc to be safer for this offer?
