Out of nowhere, I crave cheesy crust pizza.

My apartment complex is fitting with what I think are low end Smeg appliances. Dish washer sucks, microwave has blown up twice, stovetop sucks.
The high end Smeg stuff is probably alright, but at this price range stick with a bosche

Nope pretty sure all Smeg is average. They've done a masterful job of convincing people otherwise though!

      • Our Smeg oven lasted 15 years with heavy use (no joke). Only recently replaced it, let's see how they go this time around!

      • The small appliances are average, I've gone through two toasters, the coils just keep snapping for some reason. The first one replaced under warranty and now 1.5yrs later, the second one has failed exactly the same way.

Plus actually using it was crap, it took 4 slices but the springs are tuned to 4 slices only, so if you ever want to do 1-2 slices, they go flying off out and it was 50/50 bench or floor. Then the heat settings were tuned badly too, 3 is floppy, 3.5 is burnt. Cool.

It's a toaster but it sure has put me off the brand entirely.

        • That's how I felt about Mitsubishi ( cars , PC Products etc etc ) - how ever the two AC's - yup Mitsubishi

      • Smeg is typically the offered upgrade by builders as a stepup from either Technika or Westinghouse if you're building, and costs a lot more. That's where the premium image comes from.

+1 Bosch Made In Germany (unsure about their products made elsewhere, but very Bosch I’ve owned has performed well, easy to use and lasted well over 12 years and still going). Refrigerator, oven, cooktop, range hood and dishwasher. As appliances should!

    • Do you mean Bosch is cheap and can be found at this price range?

Our dishwasher doesn’t work. Not sure to replace it with a new one or have it fixed by paying someone. No any idea about the repair cost.

      • Yeah you can find the 6 series Bosch that's highly rated for around this price range when on special.

How old - is always the #1 question, then what brand and additional cost to replace vs repair.

        5years+ replace

2 years good brand , look at repair.

I had a $300 Harvey Norman no name dish washer with extended warranty , died 2 years they could not fix or replace for same funds, got a full refund.
replaced with another no name for $350 , it was still running 3 years later and washed well.

moved - place we bought had an Old melee was still running fine , but place was rental and we did kitchen reno ,
replaced with Turkey Bosch (plastic lower bowl) awesome dishwasher and fast on Eco mode and silent.
died less 4 years avg every day usage- dishes are always pre rinsed
Bought a dishlex - noisey, slow so slow on eco mode. still going 4 years later , if Black was our theme I would have bought the Linked

alot of good reviews for Smeg DW's

        • I’ve got an no name dishwasher that came with the house I bought 14 years ago.

          Still going strong…

        • About 5 years old, Miele. I checked its error code. It looks like a pump issue. It was faulty when we moved in, and we have never had a chance to use it :(

      Job ad for a dishwasher

  • SMEG made in Italy?

  • +1

Smeg is overpriced, relatively better looking garbage!

  • 11.3 Litres per wash

    That's amazing for a full-size dishwasher.

Is it just me or does it look narrow in that pic, like if it was 45cm.

  • +1

I've got this. Works perfectly fine. Looks good too if you're after the black look good your appliances. Been using for a year. No major complaints so far..

  • Mid range Italian made appliance would prob be less likely to go the distance, I reckon.
I just picked up a series 6 german made bosch from E&S for $999. $350 cheaper than appliances online et al..

    https://www.eands.com.au/bosch-sms66mw01a-serie-6-white-free…

Pretty excited actually……….I'm definitely getting old.

BTW - I nearly picked up one of the turkish series 4's for under $700 before xmas but didn't when I checked the reviews, which complained of a smell.
Speaking to the bloke at E&S, I found out why…

They've all got a little water in them when shipped after being tested, and they've all sat at the docks too long with covid and gone mouldy!

Poor unsuspecting customers buying mouldy dishwashers. Crazy.

    • That's looks a good price, if you can get one home

    • Oooooh. This might be a go-er for me as our stupid Euromaid is falling apart (like everything else we bought that was Euromaid, its the last item of the 5 or so things we bought at the same time that all started breaking bit by bit)

    • I just bought a SMU66MS02A from E&S I looked at the goodguys, and have bought from there before but their website was difficult to tell which model was which and I dont wan to go in store, and it was free delivery - $1300
