        says order date 4/1/21 ?

  • I think for a large portion of the people that received their orders they paid with a mix of points and cash. I canā€™t be assed going back through the post but I think thatā€™s most but certainly not everyone thatā€™s received theirs.

As for an SR order number I believe from what I learned in the JBL Deal it goes LYO Order from Telstra Plus then SR Number when the order is properly placed through Telstraā€™s back end.

As far as the order date on @nepaus order this could be due to the order not being processed in the Telstra system until the 4th.

Again thereā€™s no logic in how Telstra are handling it, and if a lot of peopleā€™s have been cancelled Telstra have certainly dropped the ball on refunding the points + explaining why.

Iā€™ll definitely try a mix of points and cash next error though!

    • I def haven't but i haven't got anything refunded or a cancellation email

    • I was able to put two orders through, one full points (2:39pm) and one points + cash (2:41pm). Unfortunately only received the first "We've got your order" e-mail for both and nothing further. Let's see how we go though!

    • Mmm… Wonder if points can be transferred. Had 4500~ in another account

There is still no communication or update from them so far.

    • Nothing at all for me either, I ordered at 3:58pm Sydney time (30 mins after the deal was posted)

Edit: cancellation email received. Party over.

    Show's really over - I got a cancellation email :(

    Dear Kirby102,

A technical issue meant we recently listed the Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G handset online in our Telstra Plus store for 31,000 points instead of 546,000 points (the recommended retail price for this handset is $ 1649). We know you placed an order for the handset but weā€™ve now cancelled the order.

Weā€™re sorry for the confusion, and weā€™ll refund the 31,000 points per order back to your Telstra Plus balance. The points will appear on your balance within the next 10 business days.

If you wish to order the handset again you can do so at the correct price.

    Regards,
    The Telstra Team

Grats to those who got it :) See y'all at the next pricing error!

    • yep just got the same email! :(

  • Received the cancellation email today. Sad.

  • Cancellation email here too. Oh well congrats to the lucky few

How do they make an error like 31,000 from 546,000. Only similar numbers are the zeros lol

      • They probably use some kind of spreadsheet import system to maintain the information…. so someone messed up a cell in Excel most likely?

      • Your other ghost account you used. Mentioned something about they knew there was an error? You never posted the supposed email you got.

  • Telstra cancellation email just came out.

  • +1

I literally just got the cancellation email. Congrats to those who got it.

  • At least I can be at peace for the weekend

  • Oh well congrats to those who were successful. Cancellation received here also.

  • +1

Same here - thought there would be a small bonus of a few extra points for their stuff up

Pretty poor that its taken over a week to get to this point.

  • Just received an email from Telstra advising of a price mistake. They cancelled my order and stated they would refund the points.

Congrats to anyone who managed to grab one of these. Enjoy!

  • Telstra seem to want to keep some of my points…
Used 31k, refund coming of 13k… GG yet again Telstra.

Looks like the person who updates the store pricing also wrote the cancellation emails ;-)

    • Haha, I used 31,000 points too, but getting a refund of 19,000…

    • Weird mine says 31,000

  • Dear everyone, the game has ended. Congratulations to all who received the handset, and may more bargains come our way.

  • So I contacted live chat and asked for the exact time my order was cancelled - 01/01/2021 3:22PM.

So it's taken them a week to get an email out, not even refund the points. They tell us to reorder for the correct price like the JBL Ear Phones yet the handset isn't even on the store, just like the headphones lol.

It's awesome some people got them, and whilst knowing it was a pricing error, their responses make absolutely 0 sense. Wonder if I can find the same consultant who credited me $149 for the JBL deal to go out and buy some to do the same this time :D

  • Also got the email, oh well one of these days we'll get one of those price errors delivered! Congrats to those that were lucky enough to get it

  • Fun while it lasted, also got the email

  • Hope their mail server gets blocked for spam for sending out so many emails lol

Edit: just did a quick calc. Need 61~ years to earn that many points

    • +3

And people say telstra don't reward loyalty /s

  • +1

I too got the cancellation email just now. But I only got 1 email. I placed 2 separate orders and the email I just got only states that they will refund me the 31,000 points :-(
I also wonder why it takes 10 days to put the points back into the account and it took 2 seconds for the points to be taken from us.

Congrats to those who got the phones. Any of you want to say if you got an email too ?

    • They only send one email for account

    • Mine said ā€œweā€™ll refund the 31,000 points per orderā€. It could be a manual process to refund people, especially with all the variations of points+pay, single orders, multiple orders etc. Donā€™t think 10 days max is unreasonable.

      • Ahh yes, just re-read it and mine says the same "per order" too.

  • +6

I hope they accidentally refund us the 546,000 points by mistake.
Then we can go through this all over again.

  • +4

Thanks all to the idiots that contacted chat. I reckon more orders would've trickled through…

    • -1

Truly f*********** idiots. Oh wait…did they actually contacted Telstra??? #+ā‚¬Ć—#&&#,@^Ɨ,@

  • +1

Now that the game is officially over and they've admitted to the error, I'm surprised there hasn't been anymore comments about lodging a complaint with the ACCC.

  • +2

Once again, congrats to those who received their orders.
Spewing I wasn't one of them but still happy for those who did get them. As the saying goes "You've got to be in it to win it".

  • -4

Hot off the press, my order has been cancelled. Anybody else ? :)

    • -1

      Look above

    • +3

Its not relly hot, more like luke warm as about 50 others have same as above.

      • +1

Itā€™s more like cold, almost a page of others saying theirs was cancelled

  • +1

I wish more people would post their email here, just so we know Tel$tra cancelled..

  • +2

Still in limbo here… Nothing from Telstra.

  • just got cancellation email

  • Canceled also. Same email that others posted above

  • got my email today they cancelled my order lol

  • +1

I gotta cancellation order today saying my purchase points and payment will be refunded however I have got the Note 20 delivered already. Lets wait for 10 biz days to see the refund as well. :D

    • +1

Haha the pitchforks may really come out if you do!

    • +1

This would surely be the peak of Telstra infamy if you also got a refund!

    • It wouldn't surprise me if you get the refund. Telstra one sent me a phone i ordered on a plan and cancelled the order after i recieved the phone. They suspected fraud because I had an old prepaid sim with a different address. Went into my local telstra store and they said telstra had no record of the phone they sent me, so put me on a byo plan and said keep the phone.

      • Will Telstra ask for the Note 20 to be returned?

  • +1

I have a theory about Telstra and their price errors and think it generally holds up unless someone can provide evidence to the contrary.

I think Telstra's default position is that any identified price errors are cancelled, or recalled and refunded. They don't ever intend on honouring any of them.

    However, I think people who received the Alcatel Tablets and Samsung Note 20's got them due to two factors;

*how far along their order had progressed prior to the error being identified (so the time of order)
    *and value of the item.

After doing some research it appears redirecting is only doable on eligible deliveries. This typically will be lower to medium value items. However, (and I have no idea what Telstra's threshold is) items that are sent Airlocked cannot be redirected. I saw a tweet by an Australia Post employee that confirms this fact.

So in this scenario, those who ordered the phone early had time for their order to get to a stage where delivery was beyond Telstra's control. I think the same happened with the tablet, but more orders got through as it was probably posted on Ozbargain closer to the time the error went live and they took too long to correct it/stop it. However, in the case of the JBL headphones, I suspect they weren't high value enough to be sent Airlocked and therefore could be redirected back to Telstra. As for the phone case, I don't believe any got sent out at all, so they must have found that error quickly.

    • Telstra would be a customer of large enough volume and value to AusPost, they'd have much more leeway than retail plebs

  • +2

If Telstra send out the phone, then send out this email to say it was sent in error, can they demand the phone be returned? Whatā€™s the position of the customer?

    • I would think they would just block the IMEI if the customer refused to return.
That way they control who uses the phone. But from the few people who got sent a phone would be no great loss to Telstra

      • Yes OK so Telstra can just block the IMEI Making the Phone useless to connect to a cellular network. Ok to use for wifi though.

        • I doubt they would bother to do anything

    • No they donā€™t. Too much potential for bad press. They wonā€™t miss 10 or so phones.

  • A work colleague whos order was cancelled got onto telstra chat and obtained a $400 credit to his bill for the error. Make sure you push them for all its worth.

    • what have you done

      • I havnt done anything, I got my note 20.

        • +4

you commented, now every ozb will jump into chat and demand a $400 credit.

It was a price error, move on. People with issues that need to contact Telstra will take longer to reach chat because people trying to score a credit.

          • @snvl: You are currently 164 in the queue, we estimate there is a 4 hour wait.. lol

  • +1

curious….are there any that haven't received a cancellation email or a note 20 yet? are you still holding some hope that you will get the latter? (i am….paid with a mix of points and cash and no credit back in the system yet)

    • +2

Yep still haven't received anything but not counting on the phone arriving.

      • sensible approach

    • In the same boat, patiently buying my time
