    Is this a troll post?

    • +4

Funny. If this were a fruit based device, there'd be nothing but pos votes

      • All praise the holy Fruit!

  • +14

The funny thing is, the next generation of Nvidia GPUs based on Ampere will probably wipe the floor with the GPU in this $7000 device. It literally makes no sense to buy the bleeding edge device of any generation when, at the rate tech progresses, the next will destroy it at a fraction of the cost and then some.

    • +2

Quadro cards use a different driver set and offer additional features (usually involving mathematical precision). This has been mitigated partially by the recent studio driver branch, but the professional use cases are still there, especially with the extra VRAM.

The discount should definitely be deeper though, because you're right that the hardware is very dated given you're going to see mobile products (likely including Quadro mobile) debut in 9 days.

    • When will the next gen of Nvidia GPUs based on Ampere be out?

      • +2

3060 and 3060/3070/3080 mobile are expected this month (appearing on the 12-13th presentation from NVIDIA), with the 3050, 3050 Ti and 3080 Ti not far behind. Unclear if there will be a refresh, or if they'll move straight to a new architecture after that, and also unclear whether it will be later this year or in 2022.

I'd imagine Ampere Quadro mobile will debut with the RTX 3000 mobile series as well.

  • Whats the RRP?????

Isn't OLED on laptops a stupid idea because of burn in?

    • -2

Not really. I've never seen an oled with actual burn in, though a couple suffered from image retention that was fixed by displaying a grey image for a period.

Better question is how noticeable are the effects of burn in prevention? Slight flicker, or perhaps nothing our eyes can comprehend

      • +5

I have seen dozens of burnt in OLEDS, to counter your anecdotal. It's like having a watermark.

        • +2

          Burn in or image retention?

          • @beatsntoons: Burn in, like my post says.

    • I am among the many people using the 48" oled as my primary display on my desktop. I have taken a few precautions to protect myself from burn in such as dark mode, black desktop, no desktop icons, auto hide taskbar, screen turns off after 2min, limit oled light to 50. The monitor is still awesome to use and I'm not too worried about getting burn in. If you are sensible about it, u should be fine. I've only had it for about 2 months so far tho, so I guess I'll have to see how I go

      • is that the LG CX 48"?

How much did you pay for that?

        • too damn much :D

it was about $2550 delivered from JB Hifi during that singles day sale (11/11/20)

I am more than happy with it tho and justify it cuz if I had bought a 35" ultrawide HDR1000 monitor i would have paid significantly more

          • @DanielP2: do they actually sell this in stores or is it a special order? Last I heard, you had to email LG directly to order one.

            • @lostn: I missed out on that whole order direct from LG shitshow cuz it was metro only. They wouldnt ship to regional areas no matter how much i offered to pay for shipping.

JB Hifi have them as an online order only, however they are coming up as temporarily unavailable. Dunno if/when that will change
              https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-cx-48-self-lit-oled-sm…

              • @DanielP2: do you feel it was worth the price? That's more expensive than 55" deals.

                • @lostn: 55" wouldnt work on my desk. The 48" is too big really. If u can make the 55" work for you, then dont get the 48". So for me, not having a choice but to use the smaller size, its totally worth it. No regrets at all (unless i get bad burn-in in the next 2-3 years). The image quality shits over the monitors i could have used instead and was actually cheaper than some of those too.

                  • @DanielP2: I actually wanted even smaller.. 32-40" tops. But if I'm going to buy 48" it shouldn't be more expensive than a 55" OLED deal. But I don't see them discounting this TV because it's short on supply already.

Great CPU and GPU but kind of little expensive
I bought this a couple a days ago and doe it may be pricey the performance was great.
The ram was 32 gb but you know chrome will eat that up it you have a lot of tabs. For games the graphics were amazing and doe the laptop might get warm I’m sure it will last.

Thank you Potato15 for the insights, I'm sold!

What the f………how is this even comprehensible to any gamer to spend this amount of money……
The world must be ending and I thought 2020 was a shit year

And yet, someone bought it and left a review…..wtf

    • Parent bought for kid

    • It's a workstation.
      It's a tax write-off.

    • +1

Quadro cards are professional GPUs for 3D rendering and raytracing at a higher precision level, complete with a different class of drivers and support. This isn't a gaming laptop.

      • Actually your right - but still….dammmnnnnnnnn

  • Buy it on sale and sell It for 2k in 6 months

    • +1

"I just made two grand selling this laptop - stick around and I'll tell you how but before that make sure you hit that like and subscribe button…."

  • +1

Is this going to mean no heater for the whole house, instead of just your room?

  • The design looks like Macbook + Surfacebook.

  • -1

Hahaha. More expensive than my desktop but $2k. And I have two screens

    • I mean people who buy this probably wouldnt be on this website haha

      • Yes well said aren't we all? . Hell I am elated if I can save 50$ on a deal 😂

      • It could be a high yield investment for the right person…!

        • Maybe. You know the equation. High cost means higher yield. I get your point though. If you're a pro gamer and you travel and game for a living, this makes sense. Else, a desktop will excel at this price.

  • +3

Oh sweet only $9.99 for delivery ><

  • I want OLED screen laptops to be you know less the 2G when that day comes I will buy one

  • bahahahahaha… Ahh… Good one OP, thanks for the laugh, a laptop for $7000 that's awesome.

As usual , the real bargain is in the comments!

    • looks like $7299 is the new RRP since that's the price that's been slashed out.

    • This model runs 9th gen CPU and a different version too.

      • i think it's different to the one he originally linked. That one ran OOS and they redirected to the closest deal.

  • i have a lottery ticket. Will check back this saturday to see if I'm ordering this Razer or not.

  • +2

    Interesting.

The review only gave it 4 out of 5 for “value”.

  • My first work bought laptop was around $7,700 and it was just a P3 500 MHz machine, but it did have a 1400x1050 screen. All the laptops I've had since then have been significantly cheaper; but everything IT (especially laptops) were way more expensive back then.

  • how many laptops is this?

  • +1

Needed a couple of laptops for the kids, they're about to start school. Thanks OP
