I would strongly suggest anyone wishing to purchase this system upgrade it to dual channel ram

      • +11

Ah that's my bad - ours always do have 2 x 8 but this PCPP comparison doesn't by error

    • +1

Possible to get a video card free version? I have a 2080 on a system I want to move sideways.

      • +1

Not at this stage - they were popular but there aren't enough CPUs to go around for GPU-less builds right now

    • hi luke, i'm very new to PC, would you reccomend getting the 3x and liquid cooling?
or buying as is would be good enough. thank you

      • I'm trying to work out what the 3X is but can't?
On the cooling, we're finding that all RTX 3000 series cards are making CPUs work harder particularly at the highest settings, making them hotter. It's more intense among the top tier cards like 3080 and 3070, so paired with a 3060 Ti, liquid cooling would be a recommendation and would keep the chip cooler, but is not a requirement to prevent overheating.

        • sorry, by 3x I meant the graphic card with 3 fan instead of 2 haha, idk why i go with 3x
and what will be my upgrade option if i want to upgrade to a better CPU in the future?
would getting 3070 be a better option than a 3060? i'd probably use it mainly for gaming and editing some videos and pictures. thank you in advance

          • +1

@JtheJab: Ah gotcha, wasn't that hard. The Gaming X Trio has superior cooling plus RGB which we all know adds 10 FPS minimum.
Both X570 and B550 are guaranteed compatible with Ryzen 3000 and 5000 CPUs plus whatever comes next. The base Biostar motherboard in this deal is entry level, so if you're considering a more powerful CPU you may like to consider a higher tier board - any of the upgrade options are good choices.
I think a 3060 Ti is a really good sweet spot for all those purposes tbh.

            • @luketechfast: ahh i see, thank you
btw last question would it be easy to upgrade the power supply later on?

    • @luketechfast A bit of a strange demand, do you have any deals for workaholics who might want a 5950X and 128gb desktop with the capability to later upgrade to a nice GPU as a reward for their hard work?

      • If we could get 5950X I'm sure we could cater, but we can't!

        • Hahahah, thanks! Looking forwards to if it ever becomes available :)

  • -1

I keep hearing Gigabyte PSU's will blow up your rig.

    • +6

      from who lol

    • +6

Not reality at all - we've shipped hundreds!

      • +16

And you never heard from your customers again..

        • -2

Once they have your money they go deaf and hear nothing!

          • @MuddyClear: My friends experience is the opersite so I hope this is your experience and not just crap…

        • +2

          RIP :'-(

    • +2

I got this exact PSU haven't had any problems yet.

    • +1

out of how many people did you hear to have this power supply blow up?

  • +2

Based on other people's reviews of the Lance case, probably best to factor in the upgrade cost of $89 for the case and $109 for the motherboard upgrade to the final price.

    • +1

While the ease of drive upgradeability does leave something to be desired, I think any other harsher criticisms like junk tier I saw are overstated - for a tempered glass, 3 x RGB intake fans, mesh front case, it does a good job.

  • Any deals with 5600X with 3070/3080 soon luke?

    • +2

5600X and 3080 - nopers at this stage.

  • +1

    Nice deal Luke and Techfast.

Waiting on a 5600X and RX-6700XT when supply improves and the 6700XT is released.

  • After gift card I'd be more inclined to go with the Intel/MSI offer linked above with bronze PSU upgrade.

By the time you've upgraded the motherboard and case of this one you might as well take a 3600 MSI deal, also linked above, so the AMD longer-term upgrade path isn't compelling here either (here you do have a B550 motherboard but probably not a great one).

That said, this isn't expensive, just the MSI bonus vouchers makes the other deals better value.

    • What's wrong with the motherboard in this build?

      • +1

Poor quality VRMs and a bit bare when it comes to features (few USB ports, 1 M.2 slot and only 2 DIMM slots). For running a 6 core CPU for gaming without any overclocking it should be totally fine, and the board will suit most users on a budget.

        • I just received the BF/CM deal with the Biostar B550MH board, big warning to everyone considering it: the GPU blocks both PCIe expansion slots, so you will not be able to put in any expansion cards for wifi etc. Huge bummer!

      • As celery juice said it should be fine in it's current setup.

But the main reason to go AMD over the Techfast Intel/MSI deal linked to above is potential future upgrades. And I don't think this is an ideal motherboard (or case) to provide that, so the Intel deal looks better to me.

        • Specifically, buy the cheapest deal here, upgrading only to the 650W gigabyte power supply.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/594691

You'll have a faster system with better supporting components and if you spend the $150 gift card on groceries/things you would have bought anyway then you end up spending no more.

  • Will this run Assassin's Creed: Valhalla at a constant 1080p 60fps?

Is there any way to have the game running on a desktop PC at home and streaming the game to a laptop or Raspberry Pi in a different physical location?

    • I've been playing Black Ops Cold War at 1080 High/Ultra at about 70 frames on this combo without issue so I think it would be fine.
Others might be able to answer your other question as I have no idea!

    • Yes, check out steam in home streaming and the steam link app for raspberry Pi.

    • There's also Nvidia Game Streaming, but that works only to Shield devices. Fortunately, there's nifty little thing called Moonlight, do check it out. For me some games work better through Steam, and some through Moonlight, so YMMV with both

  • Good system to use for MSFS 2020 at Ultra on 1080p?

  • Is this worth upgrading to from 970 and i5-6400, or is this a sidegrade?

    • If what you have is satisfactory now, then I would recommend waiting a few more months until supply becomes more consistent and prices begin to drop, otherwise this is a pretty good upgrade and should age similarly to your 970.

      • and prices begin to drop

this is a decent IF. looks like GPUs will likely go up and demand will likely stay similar even with more products released.

  • +3

Hey Luke, my godson wants his first gaming PC (he's only 12 so his dad's budget is about $1k) but all your budget PC deals are OOS :(
Any chance of putting up another one or getting more stock?
    Cheers!

    • would be interested in a more budget gaming pc as well

    • if you would like to build one by yourself you might get a 10400f + b460m + 1tb nvme ssd (or 500gb nvme+2tb hhd) + 24gb 2666 ddr4 + 550w gold psu (or 750w white) + RTX 2060 super/2070 strickly close to $1000

      • You can not get that within that budget unless you get the GPU used.

        • It is totally possible as the 2070 super + 480gb ssd was $559 here at its lowest www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572620

          • +1

@johangules: That deal isn't going to appear anytime soon due to stock with other GPUs, it being EOL, among other things.

Either way, even if that was that much, you still can not fit in a build with that.

Also, I actually got that deal and basically no one got the SSD.

            • @HaveANiceDay: That was sad though but i Acctually did this one in $1100 (i,ve got a better motherboard and ssd) and i built it for my friend. I knew 2070s at this price is not possible so i just listed it as 2060super/2070. There was one 2060s at $499 2 days ago. This time There are still 2060 at $448/459 and if you brought the ssd to 512gb+1tb and psu to 500w this whole system can even be within $900

              • @johangules: Yeah, I actually misread it before as a 2060 Super/2070 Super haha

Could you show me how it can be 900?

                • +1

                  @HaveANiceDay: sure here it is,
                  i5 10400F $215 @ centrecom
Gigabyte B460M $110 @ ebay ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-S1200-MicroATX-B460M-D2V-DDR4-Motherboard/254812907104 (Your suggestion on the ASRock B460 Phantom is better but inow that we are in budget and this level of motherboard won't affect too much on performance)
Silicon Power A60 Nvme TLC SSD $79 @ Amazon amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07ZHHH3QP (Crucial P2 was $69 but now that they are confirmed to be QLC all which I would mind)
Cooler Master MWE 80Plus 550W $58 @ Amazon amazon.com.au/Cooler-Master-80Plus-Single-Silent/dp/B07C5P7B4N (I prefer the 750w with an extra $30 but this system doesn't need it)
Asus RTX 2060 $448 @ SaveonIT www.saveonit.com.au/product/asus-ph-rtx2060-6g-rtx-2060-6gb-… (There might be the $450 2060super again but it might be a while)
                  Timetec Hynix IC 2x8GB DDR4 2666MHz $83 @ Amazon amazon.com.au/Timetec-2666MHz-PC4-21300-Unbuffered-Non-ECC/dp/B07HFKGQ34 (or single Crucial 16GB 3200MHz for extra $2 while b460 can only run 2666mhz)
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Universal Cooler $31 on Amazon amazon.com.au/Cooler-Master-RR-TX3E-28PK-R1-Universal-TX3/dp/B00B9BF63A (or DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 @ $44 but TX3 is enough for i5)
                  SPEED H2630 Case + Keyboard $28 @ Ebay ebay.com.au/itm/SPEED-H2630-Mid-Tower-PC-Computer-Case-Free-Keyboard-Clearance-Stocks/223412246899 (Lowest was $19 without keyboard)
                  total: $1052
Uh i think the main problem is that there isn't any good price for RTX 20series so there might have to be some sacrifice on CPU (downgrade to 10100F which was $99 at shopping express but pretty much at the same level as 3500x) or just wait for another sale

                  • @johangules: Eh, I'd personally spend more on a case as that case will not be good thermals.

                    • @HaveANiceDay: Haha it might vary among people. My x299 doesn't even have a case. There are normal ones at around $49-59. I don't like to spend much on case as this doesn't affect the performance of the desktop

          • @johangules: I went with the cheapest parts and here: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/HgWGVc

The 2060 Super was around 450 at that time btw

      • +1

Thanks, but I'm not interested in doing the leg work (or paying up front) for his dad haha. Cheers

    • If you'd like to build it on your own, this is a decent build: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/46gX3Z

    • +3

Plenty of requests but there is a real shortage of budget tier components right now. 570, 580 hard to get, 1660 and 1660 Super end of life so unavailable. If we can, we'll post one but it's not looking great atm!

  • +4

Are the orders for boxing day nearly shipped? or have the graphics cards still not arrived?. Can we expect those orders to be arrive by the end of Jan?.

    • +3

Still waiting for my order from black Friday

      • I would need to look into this, can you PM me your order number pls

        • Sent you a message

    • +2

Some Boxing Day orders will start to ship soon but they were advertised as starting to ship from mid Jan.

  • Great value. Sometimes I weep that that I bought a 2080.

  • +1

When will everyone from the November deal get their missing case fans? I see your selling the same case again.

    • They're being dispatched from this week - we're just building an online register portal and emailing the customers to ensure everyone is at the same address and still needs one.

      • -2

we're just building an online register portal and emailing the customers…

What utter nonsense. Give the people what they paid for. Stop (profanity) around!

        • +3

We will. Once we verify they're at the same address, which at least two people haven't been so far. Taking a little precaution in ensuring people get what they pay for, but not surprised you find some flaw in that thought.

          • +1

@luketechfast: Would I be able to come in store to pick up the fan? It's easier for me since the location for pickup is close to me.

      • Expecting to hear something this week re. The missing fans from everyone's computers.

        Cheers!

        • Can you enable PMs? I've emailed affected customers so want to check you got it

    • What case is this for?

  • For someone who wants to upgrade to ryzen9 and 30x card within a year how good is this?

    • You would need to upgrade the motherboard to one of the X570s for a Ryzen 9 and it would need liquid cooling. The 3060 Ti beats a 2080 Super so depending what resolution you want to play at, this will stand you in good stead for 1080P/1440P right now.

  • +1

Can we expect a sub 1000 PC for January?

    • I would say it's possible, but not probable. Depends entirely on CPU and GPU availability.

  • Guys,

Can this drive my ultra-wide Samsung monitor LC49RG90SSEXXY in 5120 x 1440 resolution?

My current poor old laptop cannot go any further than 3440 unfortunately even though the monitor is more than capable to do so.

And if not, would you be able to suggest a variation which could do it?

    Thanks

    • +1

      Yes

      • @stevtom27

Would you be able to let me know where such information could be found for a specific GPU for example?

  • Good deal. I try build something similar but a 3060 puts me $400 more than their price. No decent cheap graphics card in the market really limits pc builds at the moment. (All 1660 supers pretty much sold out, only 1650s avail or 3060 3070s)

    • Yeah it is hard to find!!!

  • +1

Hey Luke, any chance of an entry level pc deal coming soon??

    • Still searching for enough budget-tier components to do a deal, still none around!

  • Hi Luke, is it possible and what would be the price to upgrade the case in this deal to the Matrexx 55 Mesh?

    • Case supplies are low at the moment so we're reserving the Matrexx 55 Mesh to systems that it's bundled in, not as an upgrade. We're offering the M55 V3 3F (glass front) as an upgrade. Otherwise offering stock that's low in quantity as both Bundled and Upgrade items can cause headaches.

  • Found answer…

  • Hi,

I need to get one for myself but I need 32GB RAM. If I modify it, the code still works?

    • +1

Yes, the code reduces the price by a set amount, regardless of upgrades.

    • This is very confusing

On the Checkout page, please check that your order summary (in the top section) and list of components displayed (in the bottom section) match. If they do, please continue with Checkout. If they do not, those upgrades will not be reflected in your final order nor charged for, so will not be included in your system. Please clear your Cart, clear your browser's cache, and configure your system again.

  • Hi Luke

Is there any chance of a repeat 10100 deal similar to the one posted late last year?

    • Still looking for budget tier components in the market!
