Bought this a little while ago. It's very good….

Yep, really good doorbell. Also no subscription fees and local storage. Also this doorbell can be hardwired and connected to an existing chime if people are worried about battery life. You can move the base station to a top floor of the house if you want a chime upstairs.

      • Very interesting. How many wires does it take for the power or data? Cat5 or ptsn telephone? Thanks

        • +1

Not sure tbh i just used the existing doorbell cabling and it worked lol and connects to my regular doorbell chime. I was looking at Google Hello but was frusted in all the steps you had to do in Australia to get it to work and the cloudy info on voltage stuff, also this has no subscription fees! I have this exact model doorbell i and i wouldnt bother getting the wired one. The wireless model one gives you both wireless and wired options and has the Base Station 2 so you can connect other Eufy products to it. They really need to advertise the fact it does wired as well and i had to look up youtube vids and had to assume what Dual Power meant.

I actually ringed 3 times, once off the regular chime, once off the base station and once off the Eufy app so i never miss the door haha. (i can cut 2 of the later options off but i prefer it)

  • Highly recommended. Their cameras and motion sensors are also very good.

Just an FYI - Anker also has a store on Aliexpress https://anker.aliexpress.com/store/1710553?spm=a2g0o.best.10… - just bought 2 eufy cam 2 pro's for $377, now just a wait until they get here.

    • They don't seem to have any door bells though which is a pain

      • I don't think he bought the pros?

      • Yea I think he meant the normal Eufy Cam 2 and not the pros

    • Good price but it uses EU plug and any issues with region setup in home base? Can it take any homebase or has to be version2?

    • I have ordered the 2c Pro from us the USA when it was on sale for $299 USD but still not shipped as it is currently on back order. I would be interested to see how long shipping takes with Aliexpress as they are famous for slow deliveries.

    • Ali express seems to sell their eufy cameras a lot cheaper, such as these eufy 2c. Am I missing something here?

  • -2

The only downfall is Eufy does not come with a power adapter and needs to be bought separately , Ring includes a power adapter with their packs

    • Power adapter for the home base or doorbell camera?

      • Doorbell is battery operated, right? So you saying that home base comes with no adaptor??

        • +1

Probably means doorbell. It can be hard wired. Chime comes with everything you would need it to connect.

        • I was asking chefdilli.

I bought the doorbell separately as I already had the homebase with other cameras. The homebase came with the power adapter.
The doorbell comes in two versions, one without battery and one with battery. Both can be hardwired and come with hardwire accessories as spal has pointed out.

          • @Caped Baldy: @caped baldy, thank you. I was responding to question from @mazozb. Although, I didn't know that there were two variants, nice to know. Thank you.

    • Doorbell looks to be battery operated?

    • To be more clear this is the optional 16-24V AC Power Adapter for the Doorbell. Its optional as this particular Doorbell is battery powered. The Homebase does include a power adapter.

    bunnings price beat?

    • +1

      Probably,

Could also try SuperCheapAuto + Officeworks.

      • just love bunnings price beat as they have all those tricky rules to try and make identical products not identical, besides bunnings is 10%, OW only 5

        • Luck of the draw… Sometimes I get 10% on the difference, other times I get 10% off the lower price

      • +1

just did OW price beat 5%… have to call their 1300 number as not many stores have stock on hand to price beat in person.

        • Tried this but no luck as DD's website says limited stock. Called DD and they are out of stock but can order at the price and hope for delivery at some point

    • They will not price beat as it is a special order. Tried it and failed. Blacktown store.

      • +1

Beaten by another of their stinking tricky rules.

    • Supercheap auto price matched this for me today.

I had $67 worth of loyalty points and was wondering what to use them on.

Had an Arlo system for a while, the Pro, which was great when new but now performs much worse, almost like they purposefully abandoned a lot of their update, server and software support and applied it to their new models. So I’m in market for a new one or an upgrade. Heard these Anker owned Eufy ones are good, but worried they will also be obsolete in 3 years. Our throw away society is coming into play in this market and I feel like these ‘release every year wireless doorbells’ are going to go the way of phones where you will need to upgrade every couple of years. Truly annoying for such a product.

    • Seeing as these are local, I suspect you would not be as exposes to update obsolescence. If they work well initially, they shouldn't be crippled later by lack of updates. Unless you expect constant feature addition, then I'm afraid you are out of luck in 2021 :-(

    • Agreed, I got the Arlo Pro 2 and Ring Pro 2 doorbell when it first came out when I brought a new house nearly 3 years ago. Haven't noticed it deteriorate yet, but wouldn't mind having just 1 system. I hate paying for the Ring subscription, but the new Arlo video one requires subscription and AC adapter. Might think about migrating everyone over to EUFY

    • I have pro and pro 2 as well but have made change to eufy as I found interface more annoying(had to log in often, more ads etc) when left netgear. I now have floodlight doorbell and one 2c camera. Certainly better video quality than those older arlos and no ads. Also cheaper devices, got 2c camera for $130 and 6 month battery is also better.

When I asked arlo support how to stop ads for paid storage they told me I’d have to pay for storage to get rid of them.

Currently selling old arlo system off.

      • Hmm.. yeah, I did get pestered by them up until a few weeks ago.

      • Wait where are the ads? I don't get any :|

  • +2

Be very careful with digiDirect stock levels and their wait times for stock to arrive. They have a reputation to disappoint customers. I would probably only buy from them if it was listed on their ebay store. This way, it should be in stock, but if there are delays, it is easier to get your money back.

  • How does storage work for this?

    • +2

16GB in built in the Home Base. Not upgradable, but sufficient for upto 30 days recordings, and then overwrites automatically.

      • No usb storage either. You do have the option of connecting it to a NAS.

It isn't continuous recording either just snippets. That said, I'm happy with my unit though there is a delay with the doorbell phone notifications.

      • 16GB is fine, i have been running this door bell for 7 months now and only have it recording for motion and detect for people (so i am not picking up tree leaves). You will get more than 1 month if you do it that way.

  • So this just mounts on the wall? Can people pinch it and take off with it?

    • +2

There's a security key (think like removing a sim tray) that needs to be inserted into the unit to release it from the mounting plate which you would affix onto a wall/doorframe. Plus side of this wireless unit over the wired one is that if someone does steal the wired unit they take the footage with them. The footage on this wireless doorbell is not stored on the doorbell but on the homebase2 unit.

Thanks Champ… almost confident to pull the trigger with this response :)

        • all good, I've been researching for a while. I was looking for something that was easy to install and had no ongoing fees.

Most YouTubers say there's a lag in pulling the feed up to google/alexa devices and lack of integration but those aspects don't bother me too much

      • I use my iPhone sim remover, it works. I was worried about it being pinched. So, I have put gaffer tape on the eufy branding. Hopefully sufficient.

        • ah if sim remover works, then any paperclip would work also (that's what I use to remove sims in all phones i've had)

          • @Mazozb: I'm a bit surprised a SIM card remover works. The actual tool is quite a bit thicker and needs a bit of force.

You'll still get a recording of the thief if it does get pinched in the unlikely event someone wants to steal it.

            • +1

@Caped Baldy: @caped baldy, good point. I am not sure if there is even a way to switch off the camera. All footage will be stored on the home base. One can access from the app.

Re sim removal tool, you are absolutely correct, needs more force than you would normally require if you were to use the correct tool. @Mazob, don't remember, but a pin wouldn't be enough. It would probably bend with force.

      • Wired one is always on and no need to change the battery. Better for if you have home automation like Hass.io

I've been waiting too long for a wired sale …

      • It's great they have this feature for the doorbell. I had the outdoor security cameras from Eufy and anyone can literally go up and unscrew the cameras. No idea why they design that way.

    • Yes

    • Yes they can, but you have them on video

    • +1

Mine got stolen within 2 weeks and I live in a relatively safe neighbourhood. It’s extremely easy to steal (just need to pop it out with a metal pin) and has no built in alarm. The guy who stole it was dressed like a tradie with a mask so the police can’t really do much.

      • Damn. They should put a GPS in these things too lol tho price would go thru the roof I guess if it has cellular

        • +4

or lock it to the homebase/your mobile so can't be used if someone seals it. Surely it can have an identifier number and you register that to yourself.

  • Will this work if the home base is 25m away from the doorbell? I would like to put it on the front gate, assuming I can get wifi connection at the front gate.

    • I'm fairly sure the cameras talk to the homebase through your wifi network as the HB is hardwired via ethernet cable.

So if you can get wifi at your front gate it should work but the connection will probably be spotty. Being on the front gate means it will go off a lot more and use battery and storage. The docs also say to leave it out of direct sunlight. So I'd recommend against this.

      • +1

Ahh fair enough, thanks for the info!

    • Put the home base closer towards front of house? The camera talks to the Homebase and the Homebase to your home network.

      • Yeh it’s 25m with the homemade right at the front

    • +1

I have the EUFY 2C cameras installed around my house. Can't speak for the doorbell, but if its the same unfortunately I've found they rely on the homebase placement as opposed to WiFi which is super annoying. So even though my WiFi reaches outside, I still have to ensure the cameras are within proximity to the homebase.

  • I have massive time lag. It is okay if someone presses the doorbell. But sensor activation has a massive lag. It has updated firmware. Don’t know what is the issue.

    • I also get lag to the mobile app. Otherwise it's fine.

      • +1

Think it's to do with notification server communication. Have you tried turning off wifi on your phone and trying? I find Telstra 4G is much faster sending notifications vs ABB NBN. Might be my router setup though

    • What's a "massive lag"? Like, 1 second or 30 seconds?

      • Couple of minutes. As an example, I would open the door and walk to the mail box a few meters away, check the mail and back. It goes off when I am again entering the house. Doorbell notification is instantaneous. Lag is with the human detection. So, how they market it to say that see what your postie is doing. Postie would be gone before you would get notification. Although, I have not tried anything other than wifi.

        • +1

          Oh, that sounds terrible. Thanks.

        • Mine has a short delay of a few seconds, not minutes. Something wrong with yours or the network.

  • Just bought this on new years day from JB at ~$279 plus ~$40 for extended warranty. Haven't installed at the front door yet but I've set it up and it was pretty easy.

    • Can you use it as a video doorbell? How do you setup with a monitor?

      • Video appears on your mobile. But if you have a Google nest hub, it can olay on that as well. Its compatible with Google and Alexa.

        • It works on google nest hub but you won't use it, there's a massive delay. I'm talking like over 10 seconds.

        • There's also a web portal that allows you to view the video feed but the only way to download files seems to be to the phone via the app which sucks.

          • @Mugsy: My experience with the App has been brilliant so far (Android phone).

      • Only have the 2c camera but don't see it being any different, imo it can't replace an intercomm due to the delay in video and sound feed. Feels like 1-2 seconds delay. If you're happy with that though then it'll be fine.

  • Can these things upload footage to OneDrive?

    • +1

not automatically. Can save to phones and upload that way.

At this stage there is no PC software despite being promised a year ago.

You can however connect to a NAS.

      • Okay thanks

      • +1

Yea I tried looking, seems they decided that all you need is to use the web-based version.

        • Thanks. Didn't know they had this.

Had a look and it's a big let down. Can't view events without a subscription because they're "encrypted". So only live viewing is possible.

I bought this from the last deal posted. I find it pretty responsive, video and sound is clear. I have been running it off the battery and its currently sitting on 83%. This comes with everything you need to mount it, can hardwire into into existing door bell wires if required but goes without saying if you want to mount it in bricks make sure you got the right tools.

  • -1

Any deals for just the door bell without the home base (which I already have)?

  • I have been trying to research these doorbells to understand how they integrate into an existing eufy 4 X camera bundle with homebase. Does anyone know if you can store to an existing homebase, so you have all of your recordings in a single location, as opposed to the doorbell being on a SD card and then your camera's on a homebase?

    • +2

These doorbells operate with Homebase 2 so if you already have one of those (like the one that comes with the unit) then you are good. Recordings will be saved on the Homebase built in SD card. The wired only version of this Doorbell doesn’t use Homebase 2 so it records on its own SD card which is built in into the doorbell itself. That’s not the case with this wireless battery powered version.

      • Does it only work with homebase 2? I've got the Home base 1 for the cameras and would prefer not to have 2 homebases, I've heard the 2 is newer but not better in all aspects.

If i buy JUST the doorbell
        - Can i run it off the homebase 1?
        - Do I lose any functionality by doing the above?

        Thanks ! :)

        • +1

My understanding is that this definitely ONLY works with Homebase 2.

Eufy has a lot of great products but I find the lack of their products all working together frustrating. Some work with Homebase 1 only, others Homebase 2 only, others don’t work with Homebase at all but rely on internal storage etc, some are Homekit compatible others are not even though they use the exact same Homebase. It’s a little dog’s breakfast unfortunately

          • @djz: That is really annoying. I agree completely I really like their products and find the cameras fantastic.

Hopefully my cameras work with the homebase 2, because i dont mind paying the extra $60 for the homebase 2 and using it for everything, but i DONT want to have to run 2 homebases side by side, just seems stupid.

    • +1

Yes, you can buy this door able add on only without base around $199 from most of the retailers, and can add to existing home base.

    • djz has answered your question well. I'll add that you can buy the doorbell separately, that's what I did.

The going sale price is $200 and currently $250 at amazon and $230 from bunnings

  • Managed to price beat at Supercheap Auto for $262.2. Paired it with 10% off gift card and $10 club membership credit most people got it for free/$1.

      • Same here.

        Tried and failed.

    • Thanks, did the same

  • Can anyone comment how well this integrates to HomeKit

EDIT: After googling around THIS model has been given support for Homekit. (specifically 2k Doorbell + Wireless Homebase).
It also mentions the HomeKit support on the product blurb. (Of course a year ago this was contentious as it was not yet supported and advertised)

    • +1

This is INCORRECT. This doorbell does NOT have Homekit support. Eufy had mentioned they were working on it but then late last year announced that they have decided against it. The Homebase does have Homekit support but that only works IF you have a Homekit compatible Eufy security camera (eg Eufy cam 2, pro etc).

So do not expect to ever see Homekit support for this doorbell.

Note: I speak from personal experience having owned this for 7+ months
